She chuckled and nodded. “That we can although the Princess Sofia scene will never be the same.” She glanced at him, flicked her eyes down to his zipper, before focusing back on the tv. “I guess Kirk has reverted back to Jacques. Although I guess that means we can't watch Disney’s Cinderella any more.” Abby hadn't put the names together until later but when she did… She had disturbed a few other people in the library with her snickers. She had a feeling that Cliff would much rather go with a space explorer than a mouse but it was his choice. Abby hid her snicker by taking her first bite of food, the smile however was much harder to hide.

The brunette was eating at a normal enough pace, leaned back against the sofa and slightly toward her. She was getting bolder and bolder now, stealing kisses and such whereas before that was mostly him, and he liked being on the receiving end of it all. The movie's intro played and he took a bite, then glanced her way when she suddenly brought up Jacques.

Cliff nearly choked on the kung pao and rice he was chewing by the time she was done explaining that he had inadvertently tainted Cinderella. He'd never put the name and that movie together--to be fair it'd been a while since he'd seen it, and he'd only ever seen it twice while he was a kid--so when she brought it up it was a legitimate surprise. He washed the food down quickly with some water and gave himself a second before he said anything.

"Wow…" he started, coughing lightly. "Well, let's not ruin a perfectly innocent Disney movie. Kirk, in the meantime, isn't all that innocent, and neither is the show or the movies, so we can go with that?"

Abby did her best to keep her laughter controlled but it wasn’t easy. The look on his face was priceless. She liked teasing him, it was like they were kids again except the topic was very much adult like in nature. Her amusement faded somewhat as a different spark was fanned in her at the thought of the names they had come up with. Why was it different with Cliff then it was with all the other guys she had spent time with? She had actually thought about it a lot. She was always friends with Cliff but why had that one night changed everything? As far as she could tell it hadn’t really. It was only by looking back objectively that Abby realized she had been judging every guy she had ever gone out with against Cliff. Were they as fun? Did they make her laugh like he did? Were they as sweet? As intelligent? As athletic? So while she had never admitted it to herself, or even realized it, maybe Cliff’s crush wasn’t as one sided as he had thought. Not that Abby would ever tell him. Nope. No way. No how.

Finishing up her plate of noodles she switched to the rice and deposited quite a portion on her plate. “Have you actually seen some of the things on the web about just how indecent Disney movies actually are? Especially the older ones. It is rather shocking really.” She glanced over at him before turning back to the movie, not that she was really paying attention to it. On the first bite of rice she hummed in happiness. Rice really was a universal staple. It could be made thousands of different ways with millions of different ingredients and it would still taste unique. After taking a few more bites, and savoring the mix of flavors, Abby nodded in agreement. “Kirk it is. Besides, Chris Pine is hot in those movies.” She tossed him an amused filled smirk and a wink before focusing back on her food, expecting that comment to get a rise out of him.

Quote:
"I haven't," he replied while putting down his plate. He was properly stuffed now, having gone through a box of rice and two boxes of entrees practically on his own, and had his eyes mostly on the movie. He'd seen it a few times already but it was a good movie; he liked it, at least, and found the jokes just didn't seem to get old. Neither did the romance side of the story, but he'd never admit that to anyone. "I kinda like looking back at my childhood through rose-tinted glasses, so I don't think I'll ever watch those videos…"

Cliff was still leaning slightly toward her when she made the comment about Chris Pine. He couldn't help the rise of his brow as he turned to look at her, seeing the smirk and the wink and finding himself only slightly amused and more...maybe jealous? For no reason, of course, unless there was a chance he would actually lose her to whoever her celebrity crush actually was, but still. If she hadn't been holding a plate of food he might have actually pushed her down and done something to make her take it back, but no. Instead he huffed and, with his eyes still on the movie, he reached over and gave her a little poke in the side.

"Not cool, Abs. Not cool."

Quote:
Abby laughed, “Rose-tinted glasses? But don't you ever go back and watch a movie or a show and realize something new. Something you didn't catch before?” She had actually seen several films where a joke or a gesture was lost on her when she was younger but now watching through the eyes of a mature lady she caught them. “It's like watching Pixar movies to find all the easter eggs. Granted with a lot of the old stuff Disney re-released them without the more questionable content. Apparently it's bad for their image.”

She was just finishing up her food, more than content and quite full, when Cliff poked her in the side. “Hey.” She swatted at his hand before placing her plate on the coffee table. “You can’t tell me that you don’t watch a movie and think ‘that woman is beautiful’. Chris Pine was hot then and he aged very well, so are a lot of other actors.” She returned the poke with two of her own. If he wanted to get into a poke fight she would bring it. “Besides it's something about that scruffy face of his in that one movie.” She reached over and tugged lightly on his hair while making a face at him.

Quote:
"It's a little different when you have a sensitive body part named after their character, though," he said while turning his head to look at her, smirking a bit from the swat. She had a point; actually, she had a couple. Even right then he was rather appreciative of Kate Hudson, though he'd never really been the sort to outright make a comment on it. And as far as other actors being attractive...well, that was practically part of their job description. It's half the reason people paid money to go see movies with their favorite actors in them. So he had to concede, though he returned her two pokes with a few more of his own and, to keep her from retaliating again when he was done he took hold of her wrist as he retreated, grinning wide.

"Oh?" His grin had turned into a knowing smirk as he playfully tugged her toward him for a kiss to the cheek. Umber eyes looked straight into her deep browns when she tugged at his hair, the smirk softening into a genuine smile as he leaned forward for a proper kiss this time. Gentle, on the lips. The contact sent a shiver down his spine and he leaned in just a little closer to prolong the kiss for a moment before he had to pull back for a breath. "Which movie was that? We should watch it next, see what that something is about."

Quote:
He pulled her closer, the grip on her wrist light and yet she didn’t want to break it. She leaned into the kiss, enjoyed it, wanted to prolong it but allowed him to pull back. They both actually needed the space because Abby did not want this to end up in a make out session, that would mean that they wouldn't get to the surprise. “Some movie about a train.” She sighed and leaned against him. “Its got Denzel Washington in it too.” With a smile she poked him in the side and pointed to the tv, “One movie at a time Scruffy…” She wrinkled her nose as she thought of something. “Hum, I think we need a different name then Scruffy. Futurama is all good but, you aren't a janitor.”

She studied him a moment, her lower lip between her teeth. “Let’s just stick to Muffin.” Abby chuckled and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. She knew that he would want to change it but that just made it all the more amusing. Pet names weren't really her thing anyway.

Quote:
His mouth formed an "o" when she gave the answer; he knew the one, but forgot the title. So instead of bothering to think about it (he'd just look it up later), Cliff let her get close and wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her there, absently pressing a kiss to her temple as his eyes went back to the TV as instructed. "Mm…" he mumbled when he heard the name 'Scruffy.' A part of him was glad she decided to change it up, though 'Muffin' wasn't a huge improvement in his opinion.

"You sure you can stomach calling me 'muffin' in public?" He glanced down at her with a questioning look in his eyes, though he was more asking himself whether he could live it down. Obviously not his first choice in pet names, but it was ultimately her call. Not that that meant he would just let it slide…

"Can't we go with something neutral or generic or something?" he started to ask. "Honey, baby, babe, love, dear, darling…" and his list went on a bit longer. When he was done he blinked, then cleared his throat. Maybe he should try watching less rom-coms and more...sports documentaries or something.

Quote:
“You might be right on that point.” Calling Cliff anything but Cliff in public just felt odd. The occasional jokey names aside there wasn’t anything that she really wanted to call him but Cliff… Her Cliff, and nothing but her Cliff. “It could be worse, I could call you Crumpit.” She smiled up at him before turning back to the tv. “I could always call you Crawl the Warrior King.” Her snicker was covered by her hand, “Or Tinkle King.” They had gotten to the part in the movie where Andy brought that ugly a** dog to his office and the dog peed on the pool table. Overall the whole movie was outrageously funny. Thank god their own relationship wasn’t that bad. They only had to deal with school, parents, friends, and the occasional forces of evil.

“We could, if we can come up with something.” Abby remained quiet all throughout his list of pet names, doing her best not to toss a look at him but failing by the time he finished. “I think we need to start watching different movies. Something with a bit more butch factor.” Her straight face was broken by a snicker that devolved into a full out laugh. She couldn’t help it. Who would have figured that Cliff would be the sweeter of the two of them…. Other than anyone who knew them well.

Once her laughter faded Abby looked over at Cliff and said with a bright smile, “Mine. That's it. Nothing else needed.” She leaned in and kissed him softly, muttering against his lips, “Mine.”

Quote:
The various nicknames she offered at first had him crinkling his nose, as did the scene with the dog peeing on the pool table. Waste of a pool table, if anyone asked him. And then the full on laugh had him making an almost pouty face at her, though he knew she was right. It was like she'd actually read his mind about maybe watching more butch movies. The Bourne series, any of the Die Hard films, Indiana Jones… There were plenty to choose from, both classic and relatively modern.

When the laughing died down he met her eye, her bright smile contagious as she called him hers. He wouldn't disagree, of course, and when she kissed him he lifted a hand to her cheek, smiling when she repeated the word "mine" and absently nodding before he kissed her this time. He never seemed to get tired of having and keeping her so close. He never got tired of her lips or the way she tasted, or how she smelled when he pulled her in close for a hug or stolen kiss, or the feel of her fingers running through his hair, or even something as simple as holding her hand…

The kiss was slow and loving, still passionate but in a more affectionate way. He couldn't help it, really; she brought out his more sensitive side. Though in this case perhaps also a more silly side, since when he pulled away to catch his breath he smiled and said, "That nickname might make people think of the seagulls from Finding Nemo, hon."

Quote:
Abby leaned into him, enjoying the feel of him against her, the taste of him, the smell of him. She hummed in approval as the kiss seemed to keep going on and on at least until he pulled back. It took her a moment to understand what he had said and when it finally connected she chuckled and rested her head against his chest.

“It could be worse.” She smiled against his chest before glancing up and poking him in the side. “I could call you Squishy.” The sound of the movie had her glancing over and asking, “are we actually watching this?”

Quote:
"I actually like that one," Cliff chuckled, not really minding the pokes at this point. "It's adorable but not embarrassing."

When she leaned against him he grinned and kept a hand steady at her waist before he looked up at the TV, her question bringing out a curious expression. "Honestly, we haven't sat down to just watch a movie in a while. Usually we're making out somewhere near the beginning," he answered plainly, the usual brutal honesty he'd always had since he was a kid. "I think right now it's more ambient noise…"

At that, Cliff picked up the remote and hit the back button a few times to get them back to the movie selection screen, idly scrolling through the first few before offering her the remote. "You pick?"

Quote:
“Then Squishy it is.” Abby smiled at him, she knew that she likely would never call him that in public but it amused her that he agreed to it. Pet names really were not her thing. The biggest irony of that particular pet name was that Cliff actually was not squishy, his soccer and their training had really trimmed any excess ‘squish’ from his body which was why he was still watched by the various female masses that showed up at the practices. Him and his team mates were ripped, like a lot of the other sports players.

Abby sat up with mock indignity as he mentioned their makeout sessions. “Hey! I do not start those… But I finish them.” She made a face at him before acting like a haughty child by sniffing and turning her nose up. Her laughter broke the stance and she added, “Well except yesterday, that one I started. Granted I also ‘finished’ it because we had homework but what happened after, you started.” Her brown eyes flicked to his before sliding away in embarrassment. She didn’t regret last night, quite the contrary, but it was still rather new. But her more practical mind reminded her the way Cliff looked when she went to meet up with him after practice.

With that image in her mind she took the remote and switched to tv shows. “How about one or two episodes of Numbers before my surprise? Or would the show be an insult to your math teacher? You think your teacher ever watched it?”

Quote:
"Squishy," he chuckled as he pulled out his phone and looked up her contact information. "You're my Squishy, too, so I'm changing that up in here…" It took him a second before he absently kissed her temple. "To me it means 'mine' so I like it." Not that he'd ever call her that in public either, but that didn't mean he couldn't confuse people who saw that he was getting calls or texts from someone named "Squishy."

The mock indignity was only met with amusement as he sat back and watched, his laughter soon mingling with hers. "I can't help it, and see? You start some of them." Slowly he reached up to pull her back toward him, not at all enjoying the sudden space there was between their bodies, though he gave pause at mention of the start of their antics the previous night. It was hard to forget what he'd started last night and how it ended so…

Well. He was always up for doing that again, but after having realized that they really didn't pay too much attention to the movie part of movie nights, for now he was content to just be with her in this capacity. The snuggling and the joking and the teasing, it was its own form of intimacy and one he loved just as much as anything more physical. He let his hands fall and left her to pick a show, making a face when his math teacher came up. "I'd be surprised if the man owned a television at all," he said flatly, "he's ancient."

Quote:
“Well Dory did say Squishy ‘shall be mine’ so,” She snuggled into him and finished her sentence, “mine. It just sounds better than those damn seagulls.” Abby rolled her eyes and relaxed against him, absently scrolling through shows trying to pick one that would amuse them both. “As for the ‘distractions’ you start most of them by far. One would think you had years to dream of kissing me.” She smirked up at him before kissing him softly. It still surprised her that she had missed all the signs of his infatuation with her. Hell, even her best female friend had said their dating was ‘about damn time’ which had Abby choking on her soda in surprise. Pulling back from the kiss she said with laughter in her voice, “Although I do hope reality is better than a dream.”

Finally her search for shows landed on a gem. A real oldie and not even the crappy remake movie they did in 2010. Full of action, adventure, and the ever popular explosions. “I think even your teacher would know about The A-Team.” As the opening sequence played Abby glanced over at Cliff, “I think everyone knows the A-Team, even a dinosaur like him.”

Quote:
Cliff was content to let his silence speak to his agreement with her "mine" statement--he was hers, all of him, and whatever nickname she decided to use wouldn't change that. Instead he leaned down to plant a kiss to the top of her head as she cuddled into him, the hand at her waist running up and down her side almost on its own. He broke into a grin just as she kissed him, the teasing part of her statement overlooked for the moment. There was a part of him that still sometimes found it hard to believe that they were together now. He still grinned like a total goofball when it came to mind that he could hold her and kiss her now for no other reason than because he could, because he wanted to.

So when she pulled back he pulled her against him and, instead of using words he answered her question simply by kissing her again. "Way better," he eventually said against her lips, just in case she didn't get the message, before he pulled back for the sake of actually watching the movie she decided to pick. Cliff rested his cheek against her head lightly as the movie came on, a small huff coming from him at the word "dinosaur."

"Maybe. I'd still be surprised, though…"
