Skyfall (12) : Giant walls of clouds hover low above Destiny City, as if weighed down by the immense amount of water they are carrying. The air is cool, electric, and ominous, churning more like the ocean than the sky. And then, the clouds seem to collapse under their own weight. Dark masses spill from the sky in great, twisting columns of mist, stretching down towards the streets below. They descend like hands stretching from the heavens, enormous enough to swallow half a city block. Anyone caught within the descending clouds will find themselves surrounded by a frigid mist and powerful winds pushing down upon them. Visibility drops to almost nothing. The clouds spill over you, around you, like a waterfall, tugging at clothes and disrupting all sense of direction. Most people stumble out cold, soaked, and disoriented--and, sometimes, they don't even come out at the same place they went in. More than once, someone has disappeared in the cloud, only to wind up across town. Within minutes, the cloud pillars shrink, twisting like dying tornadoes, and drift back into the sky as though nothing happened at all.

...Certainly wasn't here.

Rain and clouds were hardly worth fearing usually. But this did not feel like any typical summer storm, and Regal felt a sense of foreboding as clouds of such an ominously deep grey sank lower and lower toward the earth. Not every slightly odd natural phenomenon had to be because of something wicked and Chaotic, but the vibes were not good, and he didn't want to be caught unprepared for trouble.

Doubly so, when Regal could feel the gentle pressure of a friendly aura. A Super Senshi, and if his eyes weren't deceiving him, one of quite small stature... Barely more than a child. Probably no older than his Teyla...

All at once, those dark, looming clouds seemed to spill out of the sky, creating a torrent of wind and wave that definitely felt unnatural, way, way beyond the pressure a storm would usually cause. The moment the winds buffeted against him enough to nearly knock him over, Regal knew he was about to do anything to reach that Senshi and make sure he didn't get swept away with... whatever this strange force was.

The rain felt piercing where it slapped against his exposed face, and Regal dove for the... most solid anchor he could find in the form of the scraggly branches of a small tree- tree was gratuitous. It was just a shrub that had yet to be trimmed. But it was the only thing in his vicinity and he could barely even see through the harsh winds now. "Hey!" He screeched on a straggled breath, carried away by turbulent forces. "Kid! Where are you!"

Totoro had been shopping for his mom when things felt... off. He wrinkled his nose as he'd powered up in secret; with hopes to actually escape whatever was going on with the sky.

He felt an aura and saw a squire not far away. He gave a wave as he was about to go near and suddenly the winds picked up and the clouds seemed to open up into an unnatural storm.

Totoro pulled his hood up over his head. Trying to cover his face and make it easier to see trying to move closer to where the energy signature felt stronger. "Here!" He tried to call as he heard the call.

It was hard to move and the storm was very strong. He resulted to something of a crawl he'd seen on TV one of those old army movies he'd seen. Maybe he could get to the other where maybe they'd both have a better chance of being safe.

There were few scenarios that could strike such fear and dread into Regal's soul than those that involved a child. It was usually his own daughter that he had to fret over, and Teyla, particularly now that she'd been awakened, was quite headstrong and independent. If it had been her in this situation and Regal beckoned desperately for her to stay close to him, he almost believed she would've done everything in her ability to avoid him. She could handle it! She didn't need help! Teyla was a great Senshi!

And then Regal's anxiety would've ratcheted up to a billion, and he probably would've cried and begged her and had to chase her through this horrifically dangerous storm...

So it actually came as quite a shock when the young Senshi, dressed as some kind of animal, now that he was close enough for Regal to better identify, was crawling through the wind, answering Regal's calls for him to come closer.

The Squire didn't need more invitation than that- literally just the thought of a young boy being concerned over this bizarre occurence had him bolting forward, slinging one arm around the Senshi's shoulders and helping him into a little crouch pressed up close to the side of a building. "I've got you!" Regal called over the wind. "I've got you, and it's going to be okay! We'll stay together, we'll stay low, and we'll move out of the windstorm, right?"

He'd barely even said as much when some large piece of debris- a tree branch of something, barreled down the sidewalk scarcely more than a few inches away. Regal clung more tightly to the boy's hoodie. "Let's try and move- that way!" He gestured sharply with one hand, keeping the other clenched tightly into the younger's clothes. "And let's be quick!"

Totoro was many of things but he wasn't about to be swept away to Oz. When he was close enough for Regal to grab he nodded, "Yeah, I'm glad you're here. I like watching a storm as much as the next person but usually from inside a building not inside the storm."

"You lead I'll stay close by." He added nodding as he moved with Regal. Working to hopefully get out of the storm though he wasn't sure how difficult it was going to be as he watched storm debris fly close by them. Trying not to squeak when he almost got hit by a hubcap from some old car.

"Watch out for the debris" The chibi said nudging into Regal to try and avoid any other flying objects.

The debris... They were in a usually-busy and populated area of town, and while much of what was flying around was lightweight trash, Regal would be lying if he said that was the only danger. A hubcap whizzed by them. A trashcan. Across the street something smashed a window, and he heard the glass get swept up into the storm. A bicycle that may have been locked up at one point, but definitely wasn't anymore. A thick branch still green and full from the spring rain.

If any of these things actually struck them, Regal didn't know how much farther they'd make it without being swept off their feet. And it happened that, even within the past few days, he'd gathered a newfound confidence for his abilities.

Regal held one hand tightly around the young Senshi's arm. The other clutched his weapon. "My magic will protect us a little, but we should still be careful!" He called through the fierce winds, willing a bit of his magic to spill out of his thurible and coil in little wisps around them. Despite the storm that definitely should have dispelled a bit of smoke almost immediately, Regal's magic hovered dutifully, impervious to something so asinine as a little wind.

And Regal was thankful for that.

"There," Regal said, pointing across the street to a large, dark opening. "Let's head for that parking garage! It'll be safer than any of these alleyways." It would be enclosed enough and easy to wait there and wasn't far away at all.

They just needed to make it across the street.

Regal turned a quick glance back at the Senshi, hurriedly adjusted the boy's hood so that it was pulled down farther over his head, then grabbed his hand and they made a run for it together.

Totoro was watching out and trying to duck the trash and other random bits and bobs. He watched as the wind whipped up a bottle and smashed it into the side of a building.

The chibi was not thrilled about his current predicament, at least he'd run into someone who was willing to help and well. He glanced over to Regal holding onto his hood with his free hand and nodded, "Okay~!"

The magic Regal had sounded useful at least, more so than his own in this situation, he didn't need to use his magic to make them more sensitive to the stuff going on around them. The wind buffering both of them was rough.

The senshi was looking curiously at the smoke that hovered around them and wasn't dispelled by the wind. It was interesting. "Okay!" The chibi nodded when Regal directed them towards a large dark opening. Hoping that Regal was correct the parking garge was going to be safer than any of the alleyways.

Totoro made a noise when his hood was adjusted, somewhere between a 'mom stop and a thanks' sort of grunt. And when Regal started running he follow the knight into the garage.

He glanced at a car that was parked on the road, it seemed like it was rocking pretty violently with the wind but thankfully the wind wasn't strong enough to just pick up the car; that would be worse case Totoro thought to himself. As they entered the parking garage he gave a huge sigh. "Lets not do that again this week." He said.

They were safe... or at least, safe enough. From the shelter of the garage, Regal watched the storm whip about outside- though somehow just looking at it made it seem less severe than what they'd experienced... It had come on quite quickly, so maybe it was starting to dissipate already? Just like that? As soon as they'd found somewhere to take cover? That would be par for the course...

But also not the most important thing right now.

Regal swept down into a crouch, closer to eye level with the hooded boy (and maybe he was just the teeniest, tiniest bit older than his daughter; Regal could tell now, without the wind twisting about in a distracting rage). "Are you hurt? Did anything hit you?" And then, because Senshi or not, it was still odd to see someone so young shopping by themselves, "Were you alone?"

If the storm was dying down, he should probably make sure this young man found his way to safety or his parents, or wherever he was supposed to be. Someone could be looking for him in all that commotion, and if it was Regal who'd been separated from his daughter in such an event (even knowing that she could power up and maybe protect herself), he'd still be beside himself with fear.

He cleared his throat. Worry made his mind work overtime, but what good did it do to show such a thing in front of a child? He was an adult, and they were both safe and alive, and he should pull himself together.

"My name is Regal. If I can help you get somewhere...?"

Totoro was watching the storm from the safety of the garage now and a little perplexed why it seemed so much less intense than it had been but that was fine, he started wringing out the tail of his outfit first.

Pausing when Regal came eye level and asked if he was alone, "Yeah." He answered with a soft shrug, "Luckily maybe, I wasn't with my mom when this happened."

He made a face at the hood being soaked as well and pulled it off his head rubbing out his hair, "I'm Totoro, I was headed home after getting some groceries that mom needed."

He answered and checked his subspace pulling out the bag which thankfully was safe and had some fresh vegetables in it, he was glad she didn't need any meats or other actual cold food with the way this storm was going. "See she works really crazy hours so sometimes I have to do the errands and .... well at this time of day I feel safer sometimes walking as a senshi."

There was another pause, "If the storm goes away I'll be good, but if you want to walk me to the park nearby my house you can -- if it makes you feel better." The chibi paused glancing again outside, "Hopefully it doesn't storm like that again."

"Totoro," the Squire repeated, acknowledging the name with a little nod and wavering smile. "I'm Regal. -Not that it was particularly lucky to be caught in a storm at all, but it was lucky that we were able to find each other and get through it together." He was sure that everything probably would've been fine without him, but it still made him feel better to know that someone had been there for this young man...

Even if it sounded like he didn't much need the help. Maybe he didn't, and Regal was just imposing his own parental fears on a boy who was perfectly capable of handling something like a little storm on his own...

His parents must be fine with it. They'd sent him out, and of course they would know their son much better than Regal did.

Of course he was worried for someone so young to be let loose in a city as dangerous as this one, but from even this limited interaction, Regal thought he seemed like a very reasonable child, whose parents didn't mind entrusting him with tasks to complete alone. He was a Super Senshi, which of course came with its own dangerous, but as much as Regal didn't like to admit it as far as his own daughter was concerned, being a Senshi was a source of protection too...

It would make him feel better to walk together... But it was not his place to impede upon a growing boy's self-sufficiency- and Totoro's little jab of 'if it'll make you feel better' really, ah- cemented Regal's suspicious that he was not a necessary component here.

"Ah... No, it sounds like you can manage without me..." And probably even wanted to. "But if there's anything you need, ever, you can message me, okay? With your Senshi phone. I should see it right away, so if you need help anytime, for anything, please don't be afraid to let me know."

Totoro grinned, "Nice to meet you Regal and thanks for the help in the storm." While it might would've been fine, Totoro didn't mind the help in the moment because it was kind of scary but he didn't dwell too much on it after all that battle with Harold was a bit scarier.

The chibi senshi paused when Regal said no he didn't need to walk with him and gave a nod that yeah he usually had the walk home. After all it usually was quite.

Totoro however, was thinking when Regal said if the chibi senshi ever needed anything he could message the squire, and not to be afraid to let him know. "Maybe - not tonight - but another day we could spar? Help me some with my hand to hand fighting?"

After all he did know he could use some polishing and if he didn't have to get home he'd ask about a spar tonight. There was a grin, "Plus you might could help me figure out my magic some. It occasionally does this thing where it backfires - probably because I'm a chibi but it still sucks. Ya'know?"

Fin, thank you! <3

Regal's answering smile was small, but amused just the same. He was not adept at combat in any way, and his magic? He was hit or miss with using it, as well. It was just fortunate that he was finding situations outside of combat where he could make use of it. That helped him warm up to the idea a little.

But he could muster a few evasive tricks to show someone so young, surely? Totoro seemed plenty responsible (much more than Zero), and Regal felt... reasonably confident that the young man wouldn't launch himself into a fight if he could help it, no matter how many tricks he had up his sleeve. So he gave a little nod with a soft little laugh. "I think we could arrange to work something like that out," Regal agreed.

Maybe he could bring Zero... Surely they had enough in common that it could only be good for her to have someone to talk to about this kind of thing?

Regal was, of course, hesitant for his daughter to power up ever, but... Well, in this case, wouldn't it be for the best?

"I'll do my best to learn what I can do that I can be helpful to you next time. But phew, I'm just happy we're safe now... Maybe you could message me when you get home? I'd just like to know that you're okay. And then we can talk about 'next time.'"
