Quote: Poultrygeist (10) : As Destiny City is a bustling metropolis, it’s not unexpected that there should be some strange animals running the streets. Sometimes it’s a tiger, sometimes a monkey, sometimes a chicken. Sometimes it’s something worse. Strange egg clusters have appeared in Destiny City’s parks and officials aren’t really sure what they are; these eggs have nothing inside of them. Though it’s an anomaly, they are chalking it up to teenaged pranks. However, they have advised to just leave the eggs as they are. Nobody wants to say why, but if you’re out late at night, you’ll find out. In the darkness, whispered between the sounds of the city: a guttural, rasping cluck. The creature stands on stilt-like legs, rooted to the ground with razor-sharp talons. It wears a cloak of long, oily feathers that drag on the ground with a sinister scraping. If you stare into the darkness, piercing red eyes stare back at you. That’s all it takes for a confrontation: a mangled bird, maybe a chicken in another life, comes barreling out at you. It stands easily as tall as a person, but the proportions are all wrong. The smell of sulfur follows it as it lunges, pecking and screaming and scratching as it attempts to chase you away. Maybe, from the nests full of empty eggs. The battles are fierce, but fleeting; it will viciously try to chase you away but the effects are always the same: at some point, the eggs are crushed. As always, there’s nothing inside of them, but with one final wail, the bird will vanish into a plume of foul smoke. Note: If you choose to encounter one of these bird-like creatures, your character will recognize they are not youma. It is impossible to tell if it is a single entity or if there are many. The bird does not seem to understand or care to listen to human words. It will always disappear in a malodorous plume of smoke and leave nothing but a foul odor and a clutch of empty, broken eggs behind. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character. This does not count as the one youma battle per stage for growth. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.

Cheomseongdae was out hunting, looking for trouble to stop. It was her usual goal, really, stopping trouble. She might not be the best Squire out there, and she might not patrol as much as maybe she should, but she still tried. It just got harder as life got busier, and if she and N... Rhys ever did decide to maybe have a kid, she worried it would get worse. But for now, she was going to patrol when she could, and do her best by herself and their City. And when he was ready, she would try to be at her partner's side when he patrolled. Tonight, it was just her. She was turning into one of the parks, a place she associated as a good hunting ground for the Bastards, when she heard a sound that struck irritation into the heart of her. She remembered that sound, and the accompanying smell of sulfur! The last time she had encountered it, she had met Ekstrom for the first time. Tonight, she was alone and she had to deal with the StinkChicken again. Well, CLUCKING ********. She moved to be in a decently open space, ready to fight.

It was the foul scent that first attracted Jörmungandr's attention. Heavy and sulfurous and nasty, it made him consider fleeing--whatever it was attached to seemed like it might be troublesome and unpleasant.
But the sound was equally awful, and it sounded like some kind of monster, and Jörmungandr was simply not able to leave that sort of thing alone. It probably would have been safer to simply avoid it, but that would have made him feel...guilty, perhaps.
If what he'd learned was true, he would one day have to ask for assistance in chasing the poison off his world. That meant that he needed to make friends. And helping take down a monster was an easy way to do that.
so he went chasing the creature down--it didn't have the taint of Chaos, but it was certainly a strange, unpleasant looking beast, and the Cosmos Squire facing off with it likely didn't need his help.
But he would help anyway.
"Voracious Consumption," he said, focusing the spell on the strange birdlike beast, and his magic leapt to hand--easy and familiar, a boon when he'd found it a bit unreliable of late.Quote: Sailor Scout Attack: Voracious Consumption! Jörmungandr speaks the name of his attack, and targets within a ten-foot radius will feel a heavy pressure, as if they are wrapped in the coils of a great serpent; they will then be filled with a sudden voracity, as if something inside them has been scooped out and replaced with a hunger that cannot be filled. This hunger will swell and become all-consuming, until all they can think about is the need to devour, and the weight of the serpent will grow heavier and more claustrophobic, creating a pressure that can result in lasting minor bruises at player discretion. This need lasts for 25 seconds, and Jörmungandr can use this attack three times per battle.

She felt the aura approaching and found herself a touch grateful... The last time she had interacted with one of these damn birds, it had been with the help of another and she really did prefer to do work like this in duos. Animals were far less predictable then people, after all. She glanced towards the stranger in time to see him as he used his ability... And almost did a double take. A tail. He had a TAIL. She had never met a Senshi with a tail. This was going to be something she had to ask about, but later. There was a fight on, after all. She had no idea what the spell did to the damn Bird but she moved forwards, wincing as the bird made a scream... Though not letting the wince prevent her from slamming a fist, hard, into the side of the bird. She tossed a warning to the stranger. "Beware the beak and the claws, they're sharp! Otherwise, it's just that they're loud and SMELL."

It felt good to wade into a fight with backup behind him. It had been years since Jörmungandr was involved in conflicts proper, really, other than the one that had slowly consumed his home--and fighting a monster was...very different.
Easier. It made sense. The creature was a dangerous threat, it needed to be put down, he could do this with no guilt and no fear. There was no familiarity; no ache of knowing that what was before him was his fault and thus his responsibility to clean up, no matter what he had to do in order to do it.
Certainly there was a sense of responsibility about ensuring this creature didn't cause more harm, but that was different. Lighter. Almost nothing, really.
"Understood," he called back to the Squire, moving in quickly to throw his own punch at the creature's side. "Are you familiar with this creature? Have you fought one before?"
If so, he had an invaluable ally against an unusual foe; he always appreciated good luck like that. He was still acclimating himself to what this world had to offer, after all; any assistance he could find, especially in a fight, was more than welcome.

The bird was coming towards her, with it's annoying screech, and she shifted, hating the fact that she was punching what, in part of her brain, was just a Dumb Animal protecting it's (extremely pointless) nest. It was not, and most of her brain knew that, but the eyes saw 'grumpy weird chicken' and it did not help. Still, she struck as true as she could, aiming for the bird's side and wing, in hopes of disabling it some. "Yeah, this is the second time!" She said, her tone distracted as her focus was on not getting pecked to death. "The clucking ******** showed up last year, too, around this time. Nasty little shits." She paused as she moved back from her punch, and gave a slight snort. "Nasty smelling too."

Jörmungandr skipped back a few steps, to give himself space to evaluate. The thing seemed determined and angry, and he suspected that beak and those claws would shred his fuku easily--not exactly a pleasant thought.
"Quite...foul fowl, yes," he said, and he couldn't resist the little grin that accompanied a truly uncalled for pun.
(Sometimes, Jörmungandr got distracted solely by how good it felt to be around people again. Centuries of loneliness had worn at his psyche, and connection was so, so valuable now.)
"Voracious Consumption," he said, again, letting his magic come to hand--hopefully it would distract the creature again. "Do they have any weaknesses? Unusual habits? This thing seems quite sturdy."

She had to control the urge to snort at his comment, because she was more focused on NOT getting hurt, while taking out the damn bird and laughter would be distracting. Instead, she shifted around, watching the bird until she could get a chance to punch the bird in the side again, her fist flying forwards as soon as she could. She would more than happily chat and get to know this (very unique) senshi when the battle was over, but for the moment she did not want to get hurt. Rhys would be upset. "Weaknesses? Unfortunately, none that I know off. Unusual habits... If you count aggressively guarding nests with empty eggs, and puffing into nasty smoke when you've beat them down enough, then sure? Otherwise, hard to say."

Ah, and there it was. Jörmungandr grinned.
"Hold its attention. I'll find the nest." If it was here to guard its eggs, and destroying those eggs would send it away, that was enough of a victory for the evening. Solving the greater problem was probably technically beyond them, if these creatures had appeared for two years in a row, but that was fine.
Sometimes the immediate threat was the only one you could manage.
He scanned around for anything vaguely nest-shaped, until his eyes fell on a little collection of sticks up against a wall--there. He could see the eggs peeking out, and it was a quick matter to dart over and dispatch them, and send the bird disappearing in foul but at least final smoke, as the Squire had said.
"Well. That was quite the little adventure. Are you well? Any damage?"

She blinked a little, surprised, but did her best to keep the bird focused on her, and not him. It was not hard, she had been what caught it's attention in the first place, so she just kept distracting it with more faux attacks than real for the moment. Unfortunately, the damn thing actually managed to land a couple pecks and scratches. To be dealt with after, so N... Rhys would not worry. What she had said, and intended by it, was not quite what he had interpreted but she was pleasantly surprised when it worked. In her mind, she found herself thinking that she and Ekstrom had apparently done things the hard way, which was a pity, but now... Now she could at least count this bird as 'dusted' so to speak. But while those thoughts were occurring, she was dancing back to get away from that nasty, nasty smell. She turned to face her new (and fascinating) companion, giving him a small smile. "Generally. Got a few scratches, but I can take care of that. Are you alright? Did it land anything on you?" She held her wand ready to heal, but would deal with anything for him instead, if needed. "I am Cheomseongdae, of Cosmos, by the way. Never really a good moment for introductions in battles, I fear. Might I ask who you might be? And, perhaps more impertinently but for my curiosity and knowledge, why... Do you have a tail and horns? I have. Never met anyone quite like you. Every Senshi I have ever met looks quite fully... Human, but in fancy outfits."

"A few scratches after a battle with a foe like that is the best you can ask for," Jörmungandr said, and his tone was very much pleased. It felt good to stretch his legs like that, to tangle with a nasty beastie and put it down.
"As for me, I'll be quite fine." Nothing serious, and frankly, a little sting was a reminder that he was alive, and that he had made it off the empty, dark, dead hellscape his planet had become. Perhaps this Knight was a healer; Cosmos's people varied, but it didn't seem all that unlikely. But he would rather keep whatever scratches he'd acquired; they wouldn't scar, nothing that serious, but it was still a memory.
"Ah, yes. Sailor Jörmungandr, at your service. and the reason I have horns, and a tail, and scales," he tapped one of the visible patches on his bared shoulders, "is because I am not of your world. I was born....oh, twelve hundred years ago and change? On the asteroid Jörmungandr, which is now tainted by Chaos. I'd imagine most Senshi you've met are perfectly human, since they're Senshi born in this era, not mine, and you all seem to be born on Earth now." He huffed. "A bad sign for the state of the universe, I must say."

"True enough... And as you like!" She said, regarding his declining of the healing. It was not a big deal, after all, she just preferred not to make her poor lover worry. He was going through enough with the adjustments post purification. It was not as big a deal if he was there, she felt, because he knew what had happened, but when she was off on her own? Well, he was a worrier, he had always been a worrier, and he was protective to boot. "I just like to heal up anything, as I have someone at home who worries... But I want to heal others first. He does understand for... A lot of reasons." She lifted the wand and focused through it, letting the starry looking sparkles glitter over her body. Over the next fifteen seconds, all of her small injuries healed up and she lowered the wand again. She had listened to his answer as she worked, and then her full attention was back on him, her bright blue eyes wide with fascination. "I had no idea any of the Senshi from... Well. Before. Were still alive! That is. That is interesting. And... Hmmm." She had almost commented on it being sad, on the fact that most of those he might have known were likely to be dead. But it felt tactless to bring up something that could be a personal tragedy for all she knew. Just having the few memories from her past life made that clear to her. She did not know enough about that past, but what she had gained at Chauvet's Gala had convinced her that it was probably not good after that. "But oh that IS fascinating to me. I am familiar with your asteroid in a purely scientific way... I had no idea it ever hosted life. Though at this point, I suppose that should not surprise me, given all the things that did." She brushed a lock of her hair from her face, expression thoughtful as she considered her words... She had not actually really THOUGHT about that, in many ways, before because she encountered these people but... Connecting the two pieces needed the right trigger, really. "Hmmm. I know we Knights can restore our wonders. Do Senshi have the ability to fight the taint of Chaos off, to rebuild their worlds? And... Can we knights help at all?"

"Ah, good. Someone worth returning to is an excellent reason to fight." Not that it was something Jörmungandr had ever had; friends, certainly, and dalliances and trysts of many a kind across the universe, but never someone of the type she spoke of. A devoted partner.
It had never been something he looked for, but it gave others strength and stability.
"There are a few of us, as I understand," he said. "All seeming to have a similar story--our worlds were contaminated by Chaos, and we alone remain." He stated it as if it was a simple fact. and some days,. it was. The knife of all that grief cut less as time went on, though it never truly faded away. It felt more like...a simple fact, a weight he would carry for the rest of however long his life might be.
"I'm told that the Chaos infections can be defeated, and that some of us have managed it. Always with help, naturally, so there is indeed something you can do. Though I doubt I'll be charging into that fight any time soon; I'm not eager to throw myself against an ancient force of destruction without my full Eternal power at my command."

"Mmm? He's more the reason I fight to stay together than the fight itself. That... Is more for the rest of the world, and also a bit of '******** You' to the nega agent that went for me before I woke." She shrugged a bit, but smiled. "Still, that bit of happiness makes it all worthwhile in the end, for me." She was certainly not one to assume everyone wanted that one on one kind of relationship. She knew her brother all too well, after all. She then refocused on his words, her lips going into a straight line, eyes serious as he explained. Her expression showed... Very little. Perhaps sympathy, perhaps a sense of some sort of compassion or understanding. But only hints, nothing clear. When he finished, her fingers tapped on the wand she still gripped, and she gave a soft sigh. "I am sorry. To be alone for a few years is... Hell. I can not imagine how much more of a hell it is for as long as you had to endure." And when he spoke about helping, she gave a suddenly fierce, and determined, smile. "Then when you are ready, I will aid you. I do not know how much I can do, but what I can do I will. You, and your home, deserve that." She paused, then wrinkled her nose. "I do envy you senshi and your phones. It feels odd to send messages with a ring, but... It will do as needs be done."

Jörmungandr nodded, thoughtfully. The perspectives seemed similar to him, but broader motivation was still good. And regardless of where it came from, Cheomseongdae clearly had quite a lot of heart.
That, he thought, mattered more. You could have all the reason to fight in the world behind you, but nothing could make you pick up your weapon. Not in this day and age, he gathered.
"It was...difficult. I find I have to adjust to being around people again." He flashed her a grin that was just on the right side of feral. "But I'm making due."
It was all he could do, really. The only other option was not going forward, and that was intolerable.
"I am always glad to have a healer present in a battle," he said, encouragingly. "I am sure you will be able to do plenty. And Knight rings are so delightfully flexible--I found I sometimes envied them, once upon a time. But such is; we see the flaws of our own tools and the benefits of others'."
A brief nod. "I hope we meet again before then, Cheomseongdae. Ideally under better circumstances."
