" Don't you think we have too much flowers in the garden already?" His back facing Act, his tone low.
"...I'm sorry?" Actinolite asked, confused. He had just been thinking about how they probably hadn't gathered enough energy to meet Sara's quota even if they put their energy gathered together because he had a hard time gathering energy when he was patrolling with his partner. It made him feel guilty.
And then Sara had said something about flowers in an unusually low tone. He looked around and noticed them. The wildflowers were everywhere. Since when had so many popped up in Destiny City, especially since it was summer now and no longer spring? They should have been far past their prime. "You mean these flowers? Are they bothering you?"
" ...yes", he says, as if much deliberation choose to say that instead of something snappier. " I thought we agreed you'd take care of the garden. What happened? "
Ginyami suddenly felt taken aback. Why was Sara...behaving like this? His whole demeanor seemed alien to Ginyami. His shoulders hunched in on themselves as if he wanted to cower all of a sudden.
"I...I said I would, but...I didn't plant these flowers," he assured his partner. "I would never do that to you when I know how much you despise them. They...they just popped up on their own! They're wildflowers, after all."
"are you serious?". The words came out before he could stop them. " Didn't you grow up knowing all these stuff? How can the wildflowers be left alone long enough to grow that much?"
Ginyami's gaze turned distressed. "I-I don't know! They might be...magic or something. Lots of things are magic here in Destiny City, my love! But it's okay, I'll take care of them, alright? Don't worry, I'll clear them all out by morning."
Glares at Ginyami before turning away with an irritated huff. " Forget it"
"S-Tetra? W-wait! Where are you going?" Actinolite looked around and checked for energy signatures to make sure it was safe before powering down. Then he hurried after Tetra.
"Are you...angry with me? Is there something I can do to make it up to you? You must be so tired from our patrol. I can make you dinner if you'd like. What do you feel like having?"
Powered down but stopped with an exasperated sigh, not looking at Ginyami. " I said forget it!" He hissed turning back to Ginyami. " I can barely stand being here right now what could possibly make you think I even want to have dinner?!"
"I...well I thought if you ate, you might feel a little better," Ginyami said meekly, drawing back slightly at Sara's outburst. "Couldn't it be that maybe you're feeling angry because you're hungry and tired...?" He tried to think of something else as he picked up an emerald star charm from the kitchen table and put it away for safekeeping. "What about a bath? Would you like me to draw you a nice, hot bath...?"
Was slightly heaving at this point, trying so hard to remember how to breathe. s**t. Why was he like this? Why did everything piss him off right now? It was like his anger yelled even louder than the guilt in his chest. " Don't" he gritted his teeth, looking away. " Dont. Be. ********. Nice to me .. right now". He quelled the urge to open the front door and instead sat at the edge of the sofa, holding his head in a position as if he was having a headache.
Ginyami blinked rapidly at Sara's use of profanity. He had never known Sara to use profanity before. Something must have been seriously wrong.
But something must have been seriously wrong with him, too. He was feeling so anxious and distressed that he couldn't think logically about how to resolve the situation. He didn't feel like himself at all. Where had all his confidence gone?
"Do you...want me to leave you alone...?"
Takes in a sharp breath and takes a bit of a moment before answer . " ........ no .."
Confused and curious, Ginyami said, "I'll be right back," before turning to back outside and examine the wildflowers that had grown in his garden. They were everywhere and their blooms were more vibrant and more aromatic than any wildflowers he'd ever known. Unnaturally so. Frowning, he leaned down to sniff one and noticed he felt stranger still; more anxious and perhaps even paranoid. Whatever was going on, it seemed highly probable it had something to do with the flowers.
Going back indoors, he told Sara, "I think it's the flowers. They're having some strange effect on us. We're...not behaving like ourselves. It doesn't feel right."
In the midst of all this, Sara refused to look at Ginyami. He heard his fiancee - of course. But it was buzzed out with an uncomfortable - unfamiliar irritation that made him see black and white. Had this been all repressed for so long? Suddenly he was dissatisfied with everything. His house, his parents, his job, his life, his - . His gaze drifted to Ginyami for a moment whom went out the garden, kneeling on dirt and near the patch of flowers. His back turned towards Sara, the other was unable to see the tiniest falter of gentleness that returned to his expression.
No. Not him. Never him.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he let out an annoyed tsk feeling something under his seat, taking it out to find some green star charm. What the hell, this wasn't what he needed right now. He set it aside with a force carefulness in the drawer next to the sofa he sat - barely able to shut it gently. Doing his best to take deep breaths while Ginyami came back and explained.
His brows furrowed and his fists clenched as he looked at the ground from where he sat. With great difficulty, he tried to really see Ginyami. So focused on himself, he had only now realised Ginyami hasn't been acting as usual either. " That.... makes sense.." he says tensely, too ashamed too look at Ginyami - yet the lingering effects of the flowers still buzzed irritation in his head. " .... I . I'm going. To... stop.. saying .. things.. right now. I .. don't .. like what.. wants to .. come .. out of my mouth.." he does his best to explain, sounded gruff still but in an almost defeated way - finalized and decisive. " It .. will go away soon. And when it does we can.." Sara didn't even finish that sentence.
As much as he wanted to scream, wanted Ginyami to yell back - get a reaction, as if it satisfied some story in his head that he wasn't even thinking clearly on - he was NOT going to harm the other more than he already had. Zipped. Nada. No more. Not today. Not until he fully cleared his head.
