SEIZE THE DAY Live, Laugh, and Love Draining during daylight hours! Don't be limited by the light of the moon! Join our one day workshop to learn the advantages and trade tips on passing as civilians while powered up! Refreshments and wardrobe will be provided.
All ranks and flavors of the Negaverse invited!
See you in Conference Room C at 2300!
The conference room was a mid-sized one, and three of the walls were fully occupies by what appeared to be clothing racks and large plastic storage bins. The fourth was where the promised refreshments were laid out, which was mainly friend chicken and picnic salads, along with some well meaning vegetable trays for the vegans. Water bottles and cans of soda lined the rest of the table, with a few, more pricey energy drinks mixed in because Brassite knew some people in the castle couldn't be properly sociable without one in hand. As a last minute finishing touch, she'd decided to add a vase full of the most wonderful wildflowers she'd ever seen.
Whatever nerves Brassite had setting this place up were completely annihilated by the way just looking at them cheered right her up and floated her on over any anxiety. This was going to be great!
"C'mon in and feel free to start checking stuff out, trying things on, taking bits off," she greeted as folks began showing up. "We'll get to chatting in a bit!"
The captain gestured widely to the food, a circle of metal chairs, and finally, the clothing racks and storage boxes. Closer inspection would show a wide variety of clothes pieces and accessories to pick through, from sunglasses to jackets, even a few feather boas. The few uniting factors were that everything was fairly light weight, and they could fit into someone's subspace. Most were also items meant to be a little on the looser side as well.
Several full body standing mirrors peppered the room, and crammed into one corner was a small vanity, complete with some small, simple cosmetics. This was clearly an invitation to play dress-up on the clock.

This ORP is for anyone in the Negaverse who wants to learn and talk about adjusting their uniforms to be civ passing and take advantage of daylight hours. Feel free to have your characters mingle and try stuff on right away ~ Brassite will initiate her lecture the group discussion on July 16th (next Thursday) 17th ~ and the orp will get a soft close on July 30th.
Youma are welcome as well, in fact, enabling them to pass in the city is one of Brassite's special interests, so you can choose to just handwave Brassite picking them up earlier to visit the city under her supervision.
Extra Prompt: Flower Power (15)
Destiny City has erupted with colorful wildflowers, both beautiful to look at and surprisingly fragrant. The aroma is incredibly alluring, and it's difficult not to be tempted to get a closer whiff. As expected, it smells even more amazing up close, and immediately after inhaling the aroma, colors seem brighter. Lights appear softer. The world takes on a warm, dreamlike quality where everything feels just a little more magical. Some describe glowing trails of light, shifting colors, or patterns that seem to move when they aren't looking directly at them. Others find themselves unusually cheerful, creative, or sociable. Unfortunately, not every experience is pleasant. What begins as a pleasant daydream can quickly become overwhelming, and the same flowers that inspire wonder in one person may leave another feeling confused, anxious, or trapped in an unpleasant hallucination. The effects always fade with time, maybe a few minutes, maybe a few hours, but no one seems quite sure why these flowers have such unusual properties. If you're the type to stop and smell the roses--be careful.
The posting had come through while he'd been working on some of his crystals again, which meant he had to guard them as he checked his tablet; otherwise, they'd end up in Voce's nest again. It was good to see Brassite hosting a little workshop, and given the fact that he was in a lull on things while he considered his options, he tucked the crystals away and locked the drawer as he gave Voce a stern look.
It wasn't a surprise that his youma decided to follow; the bird seemed to like Brassite, at least more than some of the others on his team. Perhaps it was due to the gifts that were exchanged, or the fact that his frequent trade of crystals for tasks had satisfied the youma enough to lower the number of times they might peck or clack their beak at someone.
Entering the conference room, he noticed the flowers and avoided them after what he'd seen the last time he'd encountered them. The options for food look alright enough, though he would eat later with Liam instead of now.
"It looks like you have quite the variety of disguises here, Brassite," he said with a smile. It gave a lot of options, and he did want to see where they went with this. He had his own methods and setup, perhaps with a bit of an extra advantage, but this wasn't his classroom.
Taking a seat, he watched as Voce hopped into the room and looked around before flying up to land on one of the clothing racks.
"Hello Brassite!" That warped voice came out with a chipper tone as the youma looked down from their temporary perch. Only giving Chalcanthite a quick glance before tilting their head and looking over anything that shimmered or sparkled.
Mara saw the note posted just about everywhere she went. At first she ignored it, more focused on her own research, but as her hunt waned and no actual results were appearing Mara decided it was time to stop for the day. It also happened to coincide just about at the time that the flyer stated. She contemplated it once more and after glancing down at her own uniform, made the decision to attend. Worst that could happen was waste time. At best she would meet others who could not only assist in her research but could also help her with her dilemma on how to pass as 'normal' since her outfit and hair were just not 'civilian' enough. And it was too damn hot out to wear a long coat.
After a polite knock on the door, the corrupt senshi strode into the room, taking in everything. There was indeed refreshments, and costumes galore. She hesitated just for a moment before pasting on a professional, if detached, smile and politely took one of the set up chairs with a murmured greeting. She was the first corrupt at the little gathering, and stood out like a sore thumb.... but at least she wasn't the only one with long hair. Like her, the general had braided their hair as well. She absently wondered if they needed to braid it each time as well or if they were lucky enough that it wasn't necessary.
The dark haired woman was tempted to ask, and maybe enquire if they knew any other styles to tame the nonsense that showed up each time she powered up, when the youma that had been exploring spoke up. "Oh," She let out a soft surprised gasp and grinned, a true smile this time. "Aren't you pretty."
((In her defense she doesn't want to make an a** of herself and tends to keep rather ridged personal standards so she might be relatively quiet for a bit >.<' ))

When BERTRAM’s new friend had brought him news of a party, the youma had been excited. The secrets of the Dark Kingdom had tantalized him for longer than he could remember and when she’d revealed that the party was in the CASTLE it became all but impossible to contain himself.
He’d bounced and twirled his way through the Hall of Shadows, reveling in the glee of finally meeting no resistance as his curious beak poked into its depths, before happily sliding the rest of the way on his belly. The sight of the fabled, long-awaited Dark Kingdom drew a soft, awestruck bray from the youma as he took in the overwhelming vista, eagerly running from place to place to better view each magnificent sight before turning his attention to the castle itself. Though it was not covered in stones and fish as it had been in his imagination, it was still magnificent and carried the infinite promise of...whatever mysteries waited within. He couldn’t exactly fathom what they were, but he knew that there was something mysterious hiding inside.
BERTRAM followed Brassite through the castle, reluctantly resisting the urge to run rampant through its halls. He could explore later.
Explore! EXPLORE! Explore!
But now he had to be calm and quiet and “behave himself.”
It didn’t sound nearly as fun as the alternatives, but he was in the CASTLE.
And there was FOOD.
He waddled over to the table and happily snapped up a few pieces of the crunchy meat, but it didn’t take long before the strange flowers caught his interest. The smell didn’t seem tasty, but it was enough to tempt him to go eyeball deep into the blossoms. As the room transformed around him the penguin looked around, eagerly awaiting the arrival of his new friends.
Actinolite, still being relatively new to the Negaverse organization, wasn't really sure what to expect when he entered Conference Room C at the appointed time. Like with Almadel's invitation, a large part of what had motivated him to attend was curiosity. And also like with Almadel's invitation, he couldn't really picture himself going without first asking his partner if he wanted to go with him. Actinolite always found he enjoyed everything better or at least found them more tolerable when Tetrataenite was experiencing the same thing by his side.
When he arrived, the wildflowers were a nice touch, he thought, but he also realized immediately that his fiancé might not have appreciated them the same way he did and sort of tried to shield them from Tetra's view. At least he could somewhat try to protect him from the bright colors he so disliked. If luck was with them, maybe Tetra would even get so distracted by the workshop, he'd forget the flowers were even there.
"Good evening," Actinolite greeted the young woman with the vividly-colored hair who encouraged them to come in. He dipped his head to her with a cheerful smile before entering as she bid them do, his hands tucked into his pockets as he strolled into the room.
The metrosexual man enjoyed making himself look good as much as the next, but he didn't know if he necessarily needed to change his look to blend in with civlians. His Negaverse uniform was more or less a fancy business suit. Tetrataenite, though...could have probably used some help. Actinolite grinned at him.
"How about trying on these?" he teased, picking up a pair of heart-framed sunglasses soon followed by a feather boa.
"Hey boss! Hey sweetie." Brassite cooed the latter at Voce, then bounced on her toes. Seeing Chalcanthite stop by, the girl couldn't help preening a bit, even if the was something like a parental visit. She'd never really gotten one of those before, and it made her already good mood brighten even further.
"Yeah, I've been going to all sorts of thrift stores for the past few months. Don't worry about the team budget though, I got hella sales."
After more people trickled in, she decided to introduce the topic at hand.
"Alright folks! Feel free to snack and try things as we talk, but let's get talkin'!"
Wheeling out a large whiteboard from behind a clothes rack, the room would see that several thing were already written on it. There were three categories listed:
PLANNING ➤ MINDSET ➤ ACTION
And over it all, the single, declaration:
THE DAY BELONGS TO US
"So I'm gonna start us out with what this," she tapped that statement with a marker. "means! To put it plain, it means that with the right planning and mindset, we can do our draining work in public, in the middle of the day, without getting interrupted by White Moon busybodies."
Voice clear and carrying, accent curling up words at the edges, Brassite talked and looked around the room. "Want to keep normal sleep hours? We can do that. Want to avoid fights without having to run away all the time? We can do that. Want to piss White Mooners off because they can't do anything about it? We can do that.
"Because magic," she spread her hands out, "is secret. So all we have to do, is not look magical. And that starts with," a tap on that first category, "...planning! Really take a look at what your uniform involves, and what you can do to make it blend in to either make you look like a civilian, or like something a civilian might expect to see around the city. Some of us have it easier," she gestured to first herself, then to Actinolite. "But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be prepared to help our coworkers out. I keep a few things in my space to help other negafolk out, just in case!
"Now, some need to think it out," she gestured to Mara. "Especially our senshi! But it can be done." Walking closer to the corrupt, Brassite first pointed to the pretty but a bit too eye-catching pieces of the uniform. "Take this dress for example. It was a really good base, right? It just needs a bit of pruning to blend, not too much mind you? I'm sure most of you know that if we take off too much uniform, we power down. So it's best to figure it out in some place private and safe, like here in the castle."
She peered more closely at the fuku, "Some of the bits and bobs can probably just be taken off, others might need scissors. It's a good idea of senshi to keep a pair of scissors in their space most of the time anyway, just in case of emergency haircuts." She straightened and gave the senshi a wink. "The other thing they gotta watch for is the mystical void holes, they got. But that's nothing a hat or scarf can't fix!"
Straightening, she turned to BERTRAM, "Of course, for our youma friends, they've got extra challenges, but they still got work to do, and we can help them. Tony? C'mon buddy..." At the call, a pile of coats shifted and slid off a youma with the general size and look of a Tibetan Mastiff, so long as you didn't look to closely at his face. "Now Tony Tippytoes here, he just needs a little active help to pass as a pet. From her space she pulled out a large collar and leash. "Folks who see Tony out on a little walk, love to come up an pet him. And they feel safe doing so, seeing he's on a leash, knowing his human is right there.
"Now folks like BERTRAM here? May seem like they couldn't possibly blend in, right? But that's just where some creativity come in and," from her subspace, Brassite pulled, and pulled, and pulled out a huge mass of thin fabric. A flag? No, as it basically covered her like a sheet ghost, the smiling cartoon image of a penguin with a hockey stick cheerfully faced the room. It was a hockey jersey, exactly the right size for a ten foot tall penguin monster.

Anybody can still join! Feel free to have your character join in on the talk, with any questions or suggestions they may have.
Worry about the whole concept of how Negaverse operate aside - Sara was always open to getting to know more negaverse peers. Even if the last one he met he was fairly sure wasn't very happy with him. But if its a workshop that didn't involve draining people randomly and fighting - that should be okay right? Especially if Actinolite came with him - the other did have this unique calming effect on Sara that only Acti could do. And weirdly something about air in the workshop that did something - Sara thinks.
Alongside Actinolite's greeting to the host, Sara bowed down slightly in respect - feeling a little shy still. Time like this he felt like he was more of Actinolite's bodyguard than partner. Given his negaverse uniform resembled some military-esque attire. Civilians often assumed he was cosplaying as some knight/guard, or … just walk the other direction and avoid eyecontact.
Meanwhile Actionlite's outfit was so blend-....able with civilians that just sticking to him might've dulled Sara's intimidating posture into more like some.. guard dog - perhaps. Even if he knew full well Actinolite did not need saving.
When the other held up heart shaped glasses and feather boas, Sara laughed a bit. If allowed, he would attempt to take the glasses and put it on. " It might… work in making me a little more approachable"
Smiling at Tetra's laugh, he chuckled himself when the other lieutenant actually took the sunglasses from him and tried them on. "That's true," he agreed with a grin. "They look cute on you."
The narrow-eyed Actinolite immediately decided he liked the cheery Captain Brassite's bright attitude and professional, well-thought-out presentation of what she intended to talk about. He turned to her as she began to speak to the room as a group, regarding her with his full attention. Well, almost full. He was partially also watching Tetra out the corner of his eye, wondering how he would take in and respond to the captain's ideas. Actinolite, for his part, thought Brassite's words and concepts could have been very helpful to them both indeed.
He chuckled softly at the part about pissing off White Mooners because they couldn't do anything about it. Oh, yes, he liked the thought of that very much. It was nice to know he wasn't the only one who might have enjoyed the notion of it. And he appreciated Brassite's very can-do attitude because he, too, liked to think that anything was possible with enough resources, will, and brains. She seemed like quite an intelligent woman and the more she spoke, the more he found himself intrigued by what she had to say.
What was more was that she seemed very thoughtful, considerate, and kind - very much like Tetrataenite. He bet they would get along if he could introduce them to each other. Perhaps later if time permitted. In the meantime, he watched and listened as Brassite demonstrated the potential of disguises with a corrupted senshi.
It was nice to hear even what perhaps should have been basic knowledge brought up in her comments like how they would power down if they took too much off. New agents like Acti and Tetra might not have been aware of that or other basic things, so he was grateful for the pointers. It seemed like a very beginner-friendly workshop and he was glad they had come.
Scissors, he noted mentally, trying to keep up and commit Brassite's tips to mind. I didn't even think about the idea that corrupt senshi might be able to cut their hair and not have to power down. I suppose it probably just grows back the next time they power up. What about Tetra, though...? He has such a lot, I guess we might have to experiment to see exactly how much can come off of him before he powers down...
The penguin-looking youma was certainly a surprise, both because it was there attending the workshop with the rest of them and because the captain still seemed to think there was something she could do for it. Actinolite wondered how sentient it was and watched, trying to figure it out. At least until the other youma - Tony...Tippytoes? - made himself known and briefly distracted the lieutenant. Interesting.
When Brassite pulled out the jersey for...'BERTRAM'...Actinolite had to laugh and turned away partly to conceal it, his shoulder shaking with silent amusement. After a second, though, he turned back and applauded Brassite.
"Very creative," he called out with a broad grin, genuinely impressed. "Are you with public relations or something, Captain? Is there such a department within the Negaverse?"
He gave a light smile at Actinolite stating he was cute, though needing to place the glasses to rest on his head instead. It was rather dark, and his attention was caught by the whiteboard and the workshop host commanding attention in a rather friendly way. Attentively he did his best to listen, not wanting to miss anything they said. Tetra was intrigued by the attitude she displayed while presenting. It was the type where you could sense their genuine interest in sharing what they knew. He hadn't laughed at the jest about whitemoon senshi, instead feeling a twisting knot in his chest. Though choosing to sound quiet instead even when Actinolite chuckled a bit next to him.
At the way they gestured to Acti regarding looking like a civilian, Tetra's eyes widened a bit and nodded a few times - shyly expressing agreement. Thats what he was just thinking earlier!
At the demonstration of using scissors he instinctively checked his pockets - relieved the pockets were generous enough.
At the mention of leashes, it earned a nod from him. But.. Tony Tippytoes.. what an adorable name, Tetra couldn't help but give the smallest smile at that. When Actinolite begun barely concealing his laughter, Tetra clapped alongside him, at the mention of them being creative Tetra nodded in silent agreement.
He wonders if given how covered his clothing is - would cutting it to any good? He hated showing too much skin.. but the other given options weren't that great either. A collar-? No one sane would pet him. A cloth might be good but that would really only work in Halloween. Still - he knew there were going to be much more to learn from this workshop and so he glanced around, trying to peek if someone else had a suggestion or a question.
As more people trickled into the room, he noticed the corrupt and the sparkle in Voce's eyes as they stared at the woman's chest hole. He knew that look and preemptively walked over towards her and his youma to make sure the bird didn't get any ideas just because she didn't know Voce yet.
"Yes, Voce is pretty, but I would be a bit careful otherwise." Giving a warning glance to his youma before focusing on his captain. The points were all good so far, taking into account the variation in uniform that seemed to come out of nowhere in his mind. Though he did have some vague feeling that personal preference could sometimes sneak into things over time, much as his uniform had musical notes and band themes.
The mention of scissors and haircutting had him internally cringing; the last thing he'd ever do was cut his natural hair that much, but he'd seen his sister do it while powered up so she wouldn't trip. There were good enough reasons for it, considering that fact alone.
It was amusing to see the large penguin youma in a hockey jersey, given how teams had mascots; it could be explained away as such. At least as long as someone else wasn't powered up and looking too closely at the youma. Chalcanthite pulled his outer coat off, sending it and all the attached bits and bobs away. It was an easier base to work with anyway, and while he had a few ideas he ran with normally, here he was more than happy to see how this went as Brassite went on.
Voce, for better or worse, bobbed up and down while staying on their perch. The senshi who had entered had a lot of shiny parts on their uniform, but instead Voce's focus was on the little hole in her chest and forehead, at least until Chalcathite purposely put himself in their line of sight.
Seeing how the much larger youma got some sort of shirt, Voce fluffed their feathers up and hopped down and closer towards Brassite. Given the fact they could fly, Chalcanthite had never exactly told Voce to hide, only to fly higher or out of the way if someone particularly troublesome was approaching.
"Disguise for me too?" Tilting their head as they looked at Brassite and now the other avian youma, Voce clacked their beak and let out an odd caw, one that sounded more like a recorded bird call than an actual one.
Mara had started to drift towards the pretty little youma before the General who was in the room stepped closer, giving a not so veiled warning. How much was for her or the bird she wasn't entirely sure, either way it did have the dark haired woman pausing in her actions and keeping a respectful distance from the bird. But that did mean that she was now standing there at a bit of a loss, since she was a bit too self conscious to start digging through the costumes and clothing. Luckily that was all quickly turned into a moot point as a penguin walked in, along with a few more people. All went about their business like the penguin was normal... which it was, or at least as normal as the bird with sparkly stones on it.
And then the presentation started, out came the white board and the buzz words but as Mara listened to the redheaded captain she realized the woman was right. There was no reason not to go hunting in the day outside of her work hours, that is... except her outfit. But the captain even had ideas for that. She had never thought of taking scissors to her uniform, she wasn't even sure any of the more decorative pieces could even come off, but it was worth a shot. Mara nearly laughed out loud at the emergency haircuts comment, instead she just grinned and nodded in appreciation. Sometimes it was hard to explain just how big of a pain in the a** the long hair was, especially when she was use to her normal bob. She hadn't taken a blade to it yet but that was only because she didn't want to damage her normal hair. There would be hell to pay if cutting off her stupidly long hair ******** with her normal style.
It was the jersey for the penguins, and the appearance of yet another youma, that had Mara drifting over towards the stack of clothes. If the penguin could pull off hiding in plain sight, if a bit ridiculously looking, then maybe she could do the same. She pulled out a golden silk scarf and simply wound it around her shoulders to hide the hole in her chest. "I don't suppose there is a simple dress or skirt in your stash is there?" She asked curiously to their host.

Captain Brassite Shooting Actinolite with a finger gun, "That's the Infiltration branch's business. I'm still young and beautiful, so I've yet to commit, but blending is exactly the sorta skill you'd wanna carry over there.
Seeing the considering look on the lieutenant next to him, Brassite took in his uniform, and felt it was a good example of her next point. Shitting another finger gun at Tetrataenite, she went on, "Sometimes the answer isn't in taking away, it's in covering over. Ain't nothing you're wearing that a good sized windbreaker can't solve. Or any coat, but those are nice and lightweight, fit in a subspace like they're nothing at all."
There were a few that would probably fit hanging up on the racks, though some of the patterns were maybe a little too exciting to be considered suitable for blending.
The senshi, Mara, seemed to be in a similar mindset, and Brassiter nodded approvingly, "We got plenty, and I think a couple babydolls with that high waist?" Turning her head to the rest of the room, she added, "Certain cuts of clothes can do most of the work for you."
Turning she went to a box of very small accessories and clothes, and as she dug through it, the lesson continued. "The other side of the heavy lifting is your mindset. When you've gotten int he habit of being like, not part of regular civilian things when you're powered up, it can work against trying to blend in." She set aside several tiny hats and kept on.
"So you gotta rewire your brain back into belonging with regular folks when you're like this. Most've you seem on the newer side, so I think you'll have an easier time of like, blending these two parts of being who you are together. But if not, just remember, you belong in this city. You belong in the sunlight just as much as you do in the moonlight, it's all up to you! There's no reason to hide and scurry and skulk about."
Finally she pulled out a bow made of many thin, iridescent ribbons and held it up to Voce's perch.
Withdrawing his beak from the flowers, BERTRAM sneezed, watching with great interest as the others entered, particularly drawn in by the beautiful feather boa that fluttered enticingly with the motions of an unfamiliar agent (Actinolite). His beak briefly reached for the fluffy adornment before bright purple eyes landed on one that could be his own. Snatching the vibrant pink feathers the youma began gleefully twirling in place, reveling in the glow that accompanied its movement before Brassite claimed his limited attention span with yet another source of excitement for this already exhilarating day.
Joyful hops brought him to the agent’s side and into the garment that bore an image that marked it as his own, wriggling his round body and flippers into the contours of the fabric. A triumphant bray burst forth with his head as it erupted through the hole followed by the appearance of the tips of his upper appendages. After performing something resembling a happy jig, BERTRAM offered a playful nudge, turning his focus to preening his friend’s hair.

Completely unphased by the huge beak playing with her hair, Brassite finished doing her internal fistpump at the youma's joy, and cleared her throat to start the last stretch of her presentation. "And the last part is the actions we take when we're out and about, all powered up and workin' to meet our quota. 'Cause as fun as it is to dress up and tease a few of our formal enemies, the point it to get that energy. So to start: you gotta be even more careful about when and where you power-up. The wrong folks connecting your identity is always a concern and the chances of that go up the more people are around."
She gave BERTRAM a pat as if he was also in danger of this. He wasn't but, he looked so cute in his new jersey. "Next thing is draining energy. Since some of you are newer, you still probably have to touch people to drain. That won't always be a problem, but until you can do it from a foot or two away, you're gonna need to be observing folks, figuring out whatever little stumble or context will let you come into contact without looking like a huge creep. Packed busses, rails, and lines are definitely your friends here!"
Turning, she gave the large, possibly napping Tony Tippytoes a pat, "And last: it's better to hold back a little. Make sure folks don't pass out around you. Kids, the elderly, folks that are clearly sick, be real careful how much energy you pull, or you might end up pulling an ambulance right up to you as well. Not to mention a ton of folks taking video," Brassite added with a small grimace. "As fun as it would be to become some sort of viral Angel of Death-tiny City."
Gesturing to the room at large, the girl finished, "And that's all I got for you this time. You want some personal advice, I'll be here for the next few hours. All this stuff was either thrifted or donated, it's meant to be taken and kept if anything catches your eye. So don't forget, the day is yours, but only if you choose to take it!"
