Walking home, Winters felt a sense of pride. A sense of almost exhilaration that she had proven her cousins wrong. She could handle herself. Sure maybe not all the time. But tonight? Tonight she had been a boss.

Rainbow lights began to flicker and she paused, stopping for a few minutes to just watch the fireflies as they seemed to dance in the heavy summer air.

Taking a deep breath, Winters began walking again and had to look twice as something on the ground seemed to shine in the light of the fireflies and…oh Hell yeah! It was an Emerald Star Charm, she happily slipped it into subspace and continued walking, feeling as though she could honestly take on the world today if she had to.

…Hopefully she wouldn’t have to but. She could. If it were necessary.

She made it a few more blocks when something else stopped her. Suddenly, and without warning an envelope appeared in front of her, arriving in a shower of smoke and stars and Winters nearly stumbled backwards in surprise, but took hold of the envelope and frowned slightly.

This was. New. What could it possibly be? Was she being invited to some magic school? Really, she wouldn't put it past the city at this point, and when she turned the letter over, the wax seal absolutely caught her eye because of how beautiful it was.

Like someone had wasted gemstones in wax but…she wasn’t complaining, and the seal came of and also went into subspace for safe keeping. Huh. She was starting to act like a crow or something. Hoarding shiny things. It was something she had done as a kid but…clearly she hadn’t yet grown out of the habit.

Oh well.

Opening the envelope, she pulled out the crisp piece of paper and stared at it, having to read and reread several times before it made any sense at all.

Dear Friend, blah blah blah, violence, blah blah blah, museum, blah blah blah. Rules whatever. She had a pen in subspace and she pulled it out, signing her name after thinking it over for all of ten seconds. It was most likely a joke but. A Space Museum could be cool.

Snorting, she stashed the letter and the pen back in subspace and chuckled. Okay so that was funny. A magical prank. Really, it only helped to improve her mood. Hijinks, being slapped on the head by a melted ice pop? She was doing great. Mads was so wrong. She should go outside. She should go patrol. She could handle herself.

And moving forward, she would. Even if she got hurt, there was no way she would ever go to her cousin’s place. No way she would complain. No way she’d do anything that made anyone have any sort of doubt.

She was magical for a reason. Clearly she was meant to be this way and that was all.

The world could deal with it.
