2026 Star Festival Prompt
The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn't be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it's incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it's just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there's something undeniably magical about it.

Sailor Sova was staring above again. Honestly, his aunt - who Remarque helped save and he found even if Elpis wasn't blood the lie WORKED and he was proud - was working tonight or.. With his grandfather. They usually stuck together because his magic tended to suck, it turned out, helping him learn Senshi basics, and tonight... Sova was on his own for a rare solo outing now. Mostly because he was bored to death alone. He never saw anyone often. His awakening hadn't even done a lot, some eternal put him through some mirror and off he went.

So Sova didn't know anyone. He didn't mind! Really!....Maybe a bit, but he didn't have to deal with his sister needling pat4rolling so he told himself he was fine, and began walking again, jaw set, back straight as he moved, listening, and alert. He'd probably drain a little energy and go home, but first... A patrol. And then he sensed something and stopped, turning to look, frowning.

Actinolite was out on a walk in the park with a sapphire star charm dangling from his pocket, given to him by someone handing them out in the city. There weren't too many people out to collect energy from that evening, but he was mostly out for the atmosphere of the night and to watch the meteor shower while lost in his thoughts. He wondered if his fiancé was watching the meteor shower too wherever he was at that moment. It would have been nice to watch it with him, and maybe they could another time, but just then, they were both occupied with their own duties.

Then the lieutenant felt an energy signature and stopped, glancing up. It was a chaos signature, but it wasn't the chaos he was used to; not Negaverse chaos. This was something else. When he looked up, he noticed a figure in what looked like a sailor fuku of sorts, but its main color was black instead of white. That was peculiar. They weren't a corrupt senshi, were they? No...they didn't have the tell-tale hole and cracks at their forehead and chest that Actinolite had come to learn corrupt senshis had. Nor was their hair especially long. But then...what were they?

"Good evening," he greeted with a amicable smile, though he clasped his hands behind his back and kept a polite distance. His demeanor was cautious. "I'm Lieutenant Actinolite. Am I correct in my assumption that you're a sailor scout of some kind? Your energy signature isn't like any I've sensed before."

Sova turned. He wasn't stiff in terror. He was curious and expected to make a good impression for his court. He visually analyzed Actinolite, and then offered a thin, stiff smile. Polite, almost warm, but the kind from one who struggled with opening up.

"Good evening Lieutenant. Yes -- I'm Sailor Sova, of the Dark Mirror Court. It's a lovely evening. Did you want help with anything tonight?" He asked. He wasn't unkind, just... Stiff, assessing. Yes, this was analkly, he noted. That didn't make him know how to handle this. Hus twin was the social chameleon. She got along with everyone, it seemed. And if not, she was willing to say it.

She wasn't powered. He was.

The Dark Mirror Court. Now that Sova had mentioned it, Actinolite thought he had heard about their court and faction before. The other type of chaos energy made sense all of a sudden. From what he'd been told, the Dark Mirror Court and the Negaverse had some kind of loose alliance or at least a truce or peace treaty of sorts in place. They weren't at odds with each other, in any case, which allowed the lieutenant to relax very slightly. Sova seemed polite enough, but Actinolite knew better than most that that didn't necessarily mean someone didn't mean you ill will - or that they were a good person.

"Yes, it is a lovely evening, isn't it?" he agreed warmly, looking around at their surroundings and up at the cascading meteors above once more. "Help? I suppose that depends." With an amused smile, he neared the Dark Mirror Senshi even more. "What might you presume to be able to help me with? Gathering energy, perhaps...?"

"Safety in numbers. Patrolling. Extra eyes can be useful. My magic may be of some use, that sort of thing. I highly doubt anyone is terribly combative save anyone wont to violence tonight however. I guess... Company?"

Sova sounded like he was unsure. Not judgmental so much as... Not used to offering his presence or to socializing on hisa own well. He was stiff, he was awkward....

"I mean, I can do something." He was.. Such a little nerd.

Actinolite chuckled softly. "Safety against who or what? There's nothing much you Dark Mirror Senshi have to worry about, is there, since you have something of an understanding with the Negaverse? I suppose some White Moon Senshi could always try to attack you, though...and I suppose I wouldn't be opposed to a bit of company at the moment.."

The lieutenant didn't seem to mind Sova's uncertainty. In fact, he seemed to find it endearing somewhat. It reminded him of his fiancé. "What is your sphere if you don't mind me asking, Sova?" he inquired as he fell into step beside the sailor scout.

Sailor Sova nodded. Stiff but trying. Polite.

"The White Moon is who I'm wary of. I met one once but I ended up helping save her. She's with us now. My aunt now, actually." Sova puffed with pride too. She was afraid of corrupts, but Elpis was fine and happy with the Dark Mirror and Sova was proud he brought someone to the right side. "I know you can't predict what the White Moon does." He stepped closer with a stiff effort at grace.

"My sphere is alignment." He explained calmly. "I think like planetary alignments or... Something."

"'With us'?" Actinolite repeated, confused. "You saved a White Moon Senshi and...she's your aunt?" He raised a brow. "Did you know that when you saved her or she became your aunt afterward?"

He nodded at the answer to his question about the senshi's sphere. "Curious. Would you mind me asking what your magic consists of?"

"She's terrified of corrupt senshi." Sova explained. "No she wasn't my aunt when I met her. She began White Moon. Told the old b*****d grandfather of mine she was his from an affair. What we DID learn was... He's one to have those in his day." Sova shuddered. "But she's quite happy now. No issues, even drains properly. I'm a little jealous."

Because Elpis wasn't unkind, and she felt safe, but... He also knew she could be defensive of her own court. And she was hurt by the White Moon, because... "Did you know the White Moon aren't even organized enough to protect one another?" Sova scoffed.

"As for my magic...." Sova coughed. "I...I mean...." He turned red.

"I boost others." He huffed. "It's useless on myself." And it was HUMILIATING.

"So she was your aunt, you just didn't know it?" the lieutenant asked, trying to make sense of the story. "But if she's not White Moon anymore...she's Dark Mirror? Because you saved her?"

He looked curiously at Sova when he remarked on the White Moon not being organized enough to protect one another. "So I've heard. But is the Dark Mirror court any better? I hear they're extremely few."

Raising his brows at Sova, Actinolite nodded in acknowledgment. "You sound like a good teammate to have," he said.

"No... Just a lie to give her civilian identity. "Sova motioned. "She's my aunt now in every e3way that matters though. And if the old man wants to be unrepentant that's on him." Sova hated his grandfather. The man always seemed to have his fingers in too many pies.. "And we're...More relaxed, I know that. Elpis takes me places. Apparently the corrupt was an order senshi she used to train who went..."

Sova wrinkled his nose.

"Feral. Not your people's fault to my knowledge but it left a bit of anxiety in her case." A hand wave. "I find it ironic the whole White Moon claims to be fighting for what they see as some good and yet... They won't protect their own."

And then he sneered.

"It's pathetic."

Actinolite blinked. He didn't expect to get so much information about the dark mirror senshi's family. He wasn't quite sure he was following everything the senshi was saying, but he tried. "'My people'," he repeated softly to himself, chuckling it was funny to him for some reason to think of the Negaverse as 'his people'.

"Yes, you're right, of course. They lack organization, discipline, and all manner of other things that makes a team work. They're too isolated and focused on themselves to think too much about helping one another. Or perhaps they're just bad at networking and communicating. I couldn't say." He shrugged. "In any case, I imagine that's why the Negaverse has most of the world in its grasp save for this one city. So I agree. It is pathetic."

Actinolite smiled at Sova before looking up at the sky, trying to get a read on the time by the position of the moon. "My goodness...it seems to be getting quite late, doesn't it?"

"It is!" Sova agreed. He just.. Didn't.. Get Order. Then he nodded, inclining his head and slowly offered an arm in habit of manners. No insult, simply.... Well... Sova being Sova. And trying.

"It is. Shall I walk you home?" He offered.

Actinolite had to chuckle at that. "No offense, but how old are you? I'm betting I'm older than you. I could walk you home if you like, but I also wonder whether or not you'd have a problem with me finding out where you live."

"Early twenties." Sova said honestly, chuckling. "No my father was born in Italy like my grandsire-- and I use THAT because it's the most polite I can be about a man I swear is how my uncle ended up in prison so fast for child abuse nobody was expecting a thing." Sova sighed. Poor Ace. "I don't mind you knowing where I live. My sister might be a menace if we power down and finds us." An eye roll. "She's... Fine just...."

Phanes was anarchy in human form sometimes. He would not lie.

The Lieutenant smiled. "I'm twenty-six, so I think that still makes me older. I appreciate you offering to walk me, but I'm sure I'll be fine. If you want me to walk you home, on the other hand, lead the way and I'll follow. No need for your sister to make a fuss if neither of us powers down in the others' presence. I'll leave before then."

"I would appreciate that." Sova nodded, a small smile on his face. "Let's hope my sister's in bed and not awake, eh?" Sova laughed, and turned, starting for home. He wasn't trying to be rude, simply... pragmatic.

"Heheh...yes, let's hope," he agreed as he started to follow the senshi. "I'd hate to have to try to explain myself."
