I posted this to my journal, but thought I'd copy it here, too.
Lewis and Brett just left for Illinois. His sister Lorretta isn't expected to live through the night. She's had 5 blood transfusions in the last 24 hours. She keeps hemhorraging, and they don't know why. She's 23, with a 6 year old daughter. Single mom. Her mom said for them to wait to see what the doctors say in the morning, but the doctors tonight say she may not see morning. They're testing her bone marrow as we speak, looking for cancer. Daniel's her only full sibling, and could help if she needs marrow, but can't be found. Cops said even if they find him, there's a warrant for him, so he couldn't go to Illinois anyway. I'm alone with the kids, got the pastor's answering machine. They don't know, of course. It's a 9 hour drive, if they go straight through. They worked all day, so that's going to be rough at best.

cambrylyd Oh wow.. That's terrible. That family sure has its share of sad times. I already told debbie this - karma. I dont know what they did collectively, but its a b***h ....

Thanks Badger.
Lewis called this morning. Lorretta made it through the night, and had a hysterectomy yesterday. They had her walking today. It was touch and go that first night, though. She technically bled to death five times, according to the doctor, and she's having trouble producing blood now, but she's otherwise stable. They're on their way home now.

Um ok we need to also say a prayer for a family i know who have just lost their Mum. I went to the funeral yesterday, she wasnt that old at 42 and left a husband and 2 kids.
It so sucks.
