No Topics in this forum... ^ ^ I think I will contribute. I know some about the otherkin but I have met few if any that remember anything from a previous life. Do you think full memories from another life could make you more of a reincarnate than an otherkin? What other criteria might make apparent otherkin not?

Otherkin are people who believe they arn't entirely human. So reincarnation(sp) is part of Otherkin and usualy part of the awakening. Some can know more or less about previous lives.

very well, but I have a friend who is a dragon, and she doesnt consiter herself otherkin. ^ ^ she hates the term, in fact. Hypothetical: If you have a soul who lived on an elven/draconian/otherkin planet, yet were human, and is incarnated here, are you otherkin?

How do we know there are seperate plants for each race though? And yes you are still otherkin, there are 'starchildren' or whatever they are called, I forgot sweatdrop . And they too are otherkin. Though if you were human being reincarnated in a human body techniquely speaking no you wouldn't be otherkin.

I know that, but I'd rather not be a deluge of self-righteousness, comdemning all the wrong people... plus I'm not sure how much I am allowed to say. at the risk of sounding self important and melodramatic, some stuff about people and places wouldn't be good in the wrong hands... sweatdrop

*shrug* If we can't speak our mind here, than the purpose of the guild is lost.
Anyway, one can despise the term "otherkin" if they wish; it's just used by some as an umbrella term for all the people we've described. For example, when asked, I would call myself an Angelic, not an Otherkin, though I do recognize the term.
What makes an otherkin is hard to say; for the most part, Otherkin are mostly human acting not so differently that humans (there's the Sanguine Vamp difference, but that's kind of the exception). The person must often find out for themselves whether they are or not, and it can sometimes be a difficult process. For that reason there are many support groups online, especially for the Vampiric types (true ones, none of that goth wanna-be stuff).
I can understand how someone might not like the term Otherkin because it somewhat excludes the group from the rest of humanity. I mean, we are human, after all...we shouldn't be put in the "other" category simply because we carry traits of other beings (astral wings, animal tendencies, a thirst for psi or blood).
So I suppose I could go either way, really...or maybe this is simply my exhaustion talking...I didn't sleep so well last night between my slight insomnia and my dreams.

I never understood when I tried to before. sweatdrop My brain works funny. Of course I think my best friend is otherkin. She burst into random fits of demonic/werewolvic/vapiric states...weird...

"stubborn as a mule" doesnt mean I'm calling you a burro. ^ ^() In my experience (Read: respect my opinion as you respect me, good or bad ^ ^) otherkin usually can hide their distinctive traits quite well. But they may just let down their gaurd with you.

If you staight what you believe and someone says you are wrong then you didn't start it. Go ahead and if I find it being bad in anyway I could just erase it.
