Would she be awake?
It had been a few days since he'd last seen her and a small bubble of excitement was pooling in the pit of his stomach as he made his way towards Shi's home.
The image of her beautiful, maskless face was present every single time he closed his eyes and Nika itched to be near her again. The last time he'd been here, Chae and he hadn't really seen eye to eye.
He paused outside the front door and rubbed the back of his neck, wondering if she would let him in so late. The moon had replaced the sun's place in the sky hours ago.
A mischevious grin found its way onto his face and Nika made his way towards the window he knew would lead him into Shi's room. At least now, he didn't have to worry about being turned away by her chosen. The window creaked in protest and Nika winced, shooting a worried glance down the path that led to his own home.
He did NOT want Gee to catch him sneaking into Shi's bedroom. Grown man or not, he would never hear the end of it from her.
After a few moments of tension, the worried crease in Nika's brow dissapeared and he finally pushed himself through the open window. His landing inside wasn't as he'd graceful or dignified as he hoped it would be and he crashed to the floor.

There was a growl at the door followed by a quick pattering of feet. Then a scrape at the door.
Chae snatched up her gun, running to the source of the noise. In truth, it was only because it was so deadly quiet in this house these days that she had heard anything at all.
And because she had been worried enough to have stayed nearby in case Shi had woken up and ...
Needed her
...asked for something. To eat, perhaps. Or to drink.
Holding the door firmly, she shoved it open even as she felt Odessa at her back.
Opened it to...
a rather sheepish looking Nika and a startled but chuckling Shiva.
Loweing her gun she sighed. "The door wasn't romantic enough for you, Romeo?"

Nika scrambled to his feet, cheeks flaming from embarrassment. His mind raced to come up with a satisfactory explanation.
The sound of crickets chirping outside wafted through the open window.
"It was late," he sighed and fought to keep a large grin from presenting itself on his face, "I'm sorry... I... uh... didn't want to wake you."
He cleared his throat and snuck a glance at Shi, "I didn't think the window was that far away from the floor."

She just stared at them and shook her head. "How are you feeling, Shiva? Did you need anything?" That sounded neutral enough, she thought.
Shi opened her mouth, looked from the woman to the Rade at her legs and lowered her eyes. "Nothing, thank you." she said. "Im sorry for the trouble."
"It was no trouble." she said. "I'll leave you two be, then." she said.

Nika watched the short exchange between Chosen and Masque with a frown. So, they hadn't spoken with each other yet. All of his efforts that night hadn't been acknowledged. Yet. Briefly, he wondered how long she'd been awake.
"Bye, Chae," he waved half-heartedly at the tired looking woman and then turned to Shi after the door clicked shut behind her.
"How do you feel?" he asked tentatively.

She smiled at him tentatively. "I slept an awfully long time. I gather I needed it."
Patting the bed she pulled her legs back. "So why DID you choose the window?" she chuckled.

"My sleeping beauty," he chuckled and flopped down onto the bed beside her.
Then, he shrugged and a smirk played across his face, "I wanted to see you and since it is late, I didn't want to take the chance that Chae would make me go home. Doesn't look like I should have been worried."

She blushed a bit, lowering her head a bit.
"Silly." she murmurred. "But no, I don't think Chae'd refuse you entry here. Of course, if you were a bit tippled and singing songs..." she snickered at the image, but then sobered.
If he were Cern, that might not have been far from the truth.
"Have you been allright?" she asked, looking up.

"Aw, Shi," Nika chuckled and took a moment to adore her blush, "How can you say that's silly? I've missed you. Even if its only been a few days."
"I'm not one for alcohol," he grinned at her and reached out, twirling a strand of her lovely ebony hair around his finger, "wine is the only exception."
"I've been fine," he nodded, "I'm more concerned about you."

She grinned. "If you had seen your face as you splayed on the floor, silly is the only word to describe it."
She stopped for a moment, mouth widening in a perfect O shape. "Im...talking." she said softly.

"I try," he grinned back at her, delighted by the site of her nose, her teeth and (especially) her lips.
"Isn't it an amazing feeling?" Nika whispered cautiously, as though he was afraid he might jinx everything they held dear.

She felt her face gingerly, as if afraid she'd meet the coldness of the foreign masque. When instead she felt flesh, she gave a small gasp.
"Sei..." she said in recollection. "He removed it? It worked? Am I still sleeping?"
She stared at him. "You're really here?"

Nika chuckled and wrapped an arm around Shi's shoulders.
"Yes, yes, no and yes."
For a moment, he wondered why he was still whispering and couldn't come up with any satisfactory reason.

She wasnt able to answer at first, overcome with emotion and awe. She almost could not believe it, despite what had been said. It was off! She was free finally!
Bursting into tears seemed entirely warranted at this point, except she was sure Nika would panic.
She laughed, a little hysterically at the thought. "I don't quite know what I should do right now." there was a mischievious glint in her eye as she stared at him. "I could push you off the bed, since you looked so cute on the floor."
She pulled him close and planted her lips on his. "Or I could kiss you." she finished in a mutter.

The mishievious twinkle in her eye caught him off gaurd and fearing that he would indeed end up back on the floor, Nika had inched away subtly.
Then, Nika's reply and train of thought were thrown of track when she pressed her lips to his. It was something he'd been longing to do ever since her mask had been removed, but he'd been unsure of himself. Now, however, his confidence soared to meet his heart.
"I quite like your decision," he murmered and gently wrapped his arms around her.
