Da Rules: 1) Remain respectful towards fellow members. Obviously, small fights and arguments will occur, but please do not extensively insult or attack the opposing member. 2) If your conversation with someone goes past two pages and no one else really joins in, please switch the PMs or IMs so that the board doesn't get too monopolized. 3) There's no specific topic for debate. We welcome debate topics about paganism, etc. more than others, but you can talk about anything you want. 4) Trolling, flaming, or otherwise breaking the Gaian ToS is not permitted in this guild. 5) Literacy, please. We're not asking for perfect grammar and spelling, but please spell/grammar check and remove the worst and most glaring errors in your posts. This is a place for intelligent conversation- please act intelligent. 6) Do not create duplicate topics without permission. If you are going to cover an entirely new aspect of something, then it is not a repeat topic. But two threads that are just about Tarot or whatever are not needed at this point. Also, do not create an entire thread for something that belongs in the Main Chat room thread. Such topics will be deleted without warning. 7) Banishment rule: Inactivity for three months equals a warning. After we clear out the member list this month, we'll do one member run a month per every 3 months. [Four a year.] So, the next one would be June. Anyone with 1-0 posts during that three month period will be sent a warning PM. 8] If your thread has no activity for at least 2 weeks [3 if in ED], it will be deleted. Some threads may be given longer, at least two mods will usually discuss which threads to delete or which ones may have life given back to them [if we think people might be interested in it again if one of us says it's on the chopping block]. 9] No polls that are not in some way, a valid addition to the thread. Polls for the sake of polls are meant in the spam areas, not the main discussion areas. 10] Threatening people, in a way that multiple people [this must include a mod] see it as a threat, will result in a warning and/or instant banning. The length of this ban will be decided upon by the leaders. 11) No spam. You can use just emoticons in the main chat room, but please keep the other threads for discussion purposes.
Exepmtions to Banishment on three month basis: Parents or spouses who allow them little to no time online. We expect them to stop by at least twice a month. If this is not possible, at least twice during the three month period. No posts during a 5-6 month period equals warning PM. Let us know if this is your situation. Explain it. If we feel you are trying to take advantage of us, chances are, we won't give you the exemption.
*Three Strikes Rule We are now following a spin on the "three strikes you're out" rule. From now on, if you are reported or a mod catches you doing something against the rules [we do have new ones, so watch for them here and the "first post" thread], you will receive a posted and PMed reprimand. You get three of those. Then you get a three day ban. After this first ban, you get 2 strikes, followed by a 5 day ban. 2 more strikes, a week long ban. Do it again and you are permanently banned. Exceptions may be made under extenuating circumstances. A mod will discuss with you the terms of your ban in the PM sent out by the guild automaticall after we switch you to "ban" status.
This includes, but is not limited to: Posting thread in the wrong forum Trolling/Flaming Overly offenensive behavior without an attempt to make it right Not listening to your warnings
If you break any of the rules, you will be warned, whether you read them or not. As a member of this guild, it is YOUR job to keep up with the Triquetra and updates on the rules.
Mod Rules These are posted here for all to see. These are the rules that apply to mods and mods only. These are here so that if a member feels a mod is breaking a mod rule, they might bring it up. Please PM a different mod if you see one breaking any of these rules or the general member rules.
Mod rule #1- If assigned a task by the captain or vice captain, please accomplish it ASAP. If it has deadline attached to it, finish it before the deadline. Not doing so results in a warning. Two warnings means demotion. It'll take a lot of hard work to get back up to mod status if you've been demoted.
Mod rule #2- All mods must log in and actively take part in the guild a minimum of once a week. Unless they have taken a leave of absence and have announced such. A leave can not last more than 1 month without all fellow mods agreeing to it. No more than 2 leaves of absence a year, unless approved by all other mods.

FAQ:
Questions from [BAVI]/Answers by Yue Halliwell: What's the difference between a Grimoire and a Book of Shadows? Are different things supposed to go in each one or are they simply interchangable names for the same thing? I ask because I can't seem to find any differing definitions online and yet I've been told in the past there is a distinct difference. As much things in witchcraft, some definitions depend on each person. Some people say the word "Warlock" is the "witch" for men, and some say it means "bad witch".
So, about Grimoires and BOSs, I'd say that even though they the same thing (a book with info about the occult) there's a little difference:
A Grimoire tends to be a book from someone else, used for consult. It would be like "other person's Book of Shadows", a public text. The best known Grimoire around the world is the "Clavicles of Solomon". The term GRIMOIRE (again, depending on who uses it) can mean "DARK Book of Shadows".
A Book of Shadows is something more personal, a journal of the practicant person. It can contain spells, chantings, poems, dreams, experiences, tables of correspondences, info on magical creatures, etc. Anything you'd want to. That's the slight difference about the 2 terms. A BOS is something you do write and create on your own, and a Grimoire tends to be a public old book you can consult.
(you'll come across rules that the Book of Shadows has to be 100% handwritten, that it has to be made by yourself, that the ink should be blessed, etc.---> crap. The important thing is that YOU like it and YOU find your own way to do it. Some people keep their book of shadows in their computers. Sometimes you'll find an interesting article in the net and you are perfectly free to print it and put it in your BOS.)
Are moon phases really important in spells/rituals? Can a spell that calls to be done under a certain phase be worked just as well out of it? On that note, why are governing hours important? A lot of books I've seen have had them listed but I've never heard of spells/rituals that require their use. About the moon, A BIG BIG BIG YES. And a slight no:
The thing about moon phases do have a BIG importance in spells (more, for example, than the hours of the day). Full moon days are CLEARLY more powerfull that any other day of the year (except from sabbaths). The thing is that with crescent moon, you'll ATTRACT stuff. And with decrescent moon, you'll REPEL stuff.
For example, if you want to do a spell to get money, if you do it during crescent moon you'll ATTRACT MONEY TO YOU. But, if you do it during decrescent moon, YOU'LL REPEL THE LACK OF MONEY from you.
It's not like OOOOOOOH THE BIG DIFFERENCE but it's not the same thing. Still, if you need to cast an important healing spell, or a cure for sadness spell, or anything urgent, you can s**t on the moon phases and any other condition and still do it.
Cause THE REALLY IMPORTANT THING IS YOUR WILL. Everything else (days, magic tools, magic words, etc) are FOCUSING DEVICES. Yes, of course, a spell is more likely to come around better if planned specially, having the correct supplies and tools, having it designed by you, proper moon phase, etc. But all those things can eventually lack. Your will, NEVER.
[BAVI]'s Final Response: I've come up with my own little system since the initial post, because I've found out that Grimoire is supposed to be derived from Grammaire (Grammar). Grammar essentially means 'way of doing' and is most assosiated with language (proper language structure, proper grammar=proper way of putting words together to make intelligable sentences, etc) which makes sense because a Grimoire is a book and contains writting concerning the "proper way of doing magic", at least according to the author, I would think. So in this way of thinking, I've personally come to associate a Grimoire as being a book compiled of ways of doing things (magic, energy workings, correspondences, etc etc) that have been proven to work by/for the author, and a Book of Shadows (it's meaning being that of 'diary' or 'journal' of one's experiences and such, to me) is a diary/journal perhaps only dealing with one's occult/spiritual (etc etc, so many etcs XP) learnings, experiences (more etcs). It doesn't mean it's right, but it makes sense to me, especially considering what people are told what should go into one's BOS (correspondences, sabbats, ect) and my anylization of the word Grimoire. Also, I should add that since it seems to me that many different things work for different people (associations may be different for people, especially (from my point of veiw) in the way of colors) which is why I included the "that have been proven to work by/for the author" in the Grimoire part.
