It could very well be just that. It's hard to say for sure. For the longest time, many have regarded the thought of Otherkin to simply be people with some kind of mental illness, or roleplayers who've finally lost it, or even just people with wild imaginations and no grip on reality. Whether that is accurate or not, I'm really in no position to say since I've not the education in psychology nor have I done the proper psychological testing on Otherkin to prove or to disprove anything. That's not to say that the whole Otherkin thing is connected with (sometimes undiagnosed)Mental Illnesses, because that may not at all be the case.

As for the dragons thing.. Well, they're believed to hail from other dimensions and other worlds. As to how they ended up in this world? Well, it's hard to say. A psychic once told me that all of those mythological creatures once lived on Atlantis before it "sank"(for lack of a better word)...But she seemed like a bit of a nutball anyway. >.<

With regards to the whole "How do you know you're Otherkin" deal..Well, I'd say that it's almost like being transgendered in that your body just doesn't feel right to you. You feel as though you're supposed to be something else.

There was a book written by Doreen Virtue about something that..well..I guess falls under the title of Otherkin. The book is called "Earth Angels; a pocket guide for Incarnated Angels, Elementals, Starpeople, Walk-Ins and Wizards".

I know what you're thinking; the book says Wizards on it, it's gotta be some stupid Harry Potter thing. That's not the case. This refers to people who were apparently really strong magick users or something in their past lives. *shrugs* It's been awhile since I read the book. It's a pretty good read though, even if you don't believe all of what's written in it.

Easy question, Everyone has an energy signal that is generated by how their soul is put together and the signal tells people what and who you are, so a cats energy signal will be differant then a humans and with this knowlegde you can see how otherkin know they are otherkin.

Oh yeah every human is otherkin becuase being human is a combination of differant kins with a physical body.

^ ^ Not to argue with you, mein Guildfuhrer, but I believe there is no current scientific, or objective proof. I think I know people with subjective proof in spades... but, unfortunately, those dont help from a researching or scientific perspective.

I think that The FLCL Guy is Zero. I've pieced it together based on the fact that Zero was supposed to be an Angel according to what LoBo had said in another post and The FLCL Guy has stated many times over that he was an Angelic. *shrugs* I could be wrong.
