Its because they have this odd thought in there head that Kikyo is evil because she put inuyasha under that sleeping spell, and Kagome keeps giving the wrong impressions about the situation when she doesnt even understand it herself.

because their are real asses.People tend to hate things they dont understand.Kikyou is a very complicated charecter,who takes time to understand her actions.But every thing she does,ends up helping the inu-gang later on!If Kikyo haters actually took the time to understand Kikyou a bit more,I bet they wouldnt hate her as much.They just label Kikyou,and dont even look into her actions.Their basicly one sided

Yes, I think most people hate her because of the first impression of her shooting Inuyasha and Kagome helped making it worst.

I think most people hate Kikyou because she did alot of stuff that seemed... bad to Inuyasha's group.
Here's a few things that some people hated:
1) Shooting Inuyasha with her arrow
2) Seeming cold and cruel(sense she's calm and quiet)
3) Making the Inuyasha group dream terrifying dreams(unless that part of the plot was actually Naraku's doing)
4) Stealing the Jewel from Kagome
5) Inuyasha still having feelings for her(you know how jelous those Inuyasha fangirls can get).

Yes, somehow people always think calm and quiet people are cold and cruel, why that is not the case. Kikyo have to be like that because she was raise to not show emotion. Why won't they understand?

Yes, one of the most obvious truth there is. She helps the people who are injured in war. How can she be evil. P.S: And since she is not alive any longer, she did not take anything when she help destroying demons from the villagers.

yea! Like on Kikyo's Lonly Journey,she could have taken that old man's jewel shard,but she didnt kill him to get it(like Inuyasha) instead he gave it to her,without any blood shed. And she went out of her way to go to the mountain to place his re-mains so he could be saved.How sweet is that?Not to mention he tried to jack her for money which she doesnt have because she doesnt CHARGE! That still shows how thoughtful she is,I would charge to make some type of money.But Kikyo relizes that this time period is a
troublesome period,filled with violance and war.Why charge poor villages or poo-er villages who cant afford to supply themselves with medicen?Thats why Kikyo doesnt charge.Thats how sweet she is.How can she be evil?
