Does it count if I'm entering my second year of university?
I just love university. I find the classes a lot easier than in high school, despite all the horror stories I was told by my teachers and parents. The best thing is that you can completely choose your own courses, so you're never stuck in a class that you have no use for. I get an excellent feeling from knowing that I'm finally taking classes that will lead me into my future career.
I found that I have more free time in university as well. Most of the homework is just reading textbooks, rather than writing lengthy reports or answering annoying questions. You usually have plenty of time to complete large written assignments (though I procrastinate and wind up finishing them the day they're due >_<). I'm attending a small university with small class sizes so speaking with Professors is absolutely no problem, and I always know I can turn to them if I have any pressing questions.
I also like the sort of anonymity I have among the students. No one here knows my old history, and what embarassing things I did or said however many years ago. No one can pick me out of a crowd or bring attention to me. I feel so much more comfortable about myself when I'm in a room of complete strangers. It may sound strange or almost lonely when I say that, but I'm not the kind of person who likes to be the centre of anything, and I'd rather make one close friend than a dozen vague acquaintances.
I'm double-majoring in Psychology and Family Studies, with a focus on child learning. You said you were going to major in Psychology too, didn't you, Mina? Is this going to be your first year of college or your second (please forgive me for forgetting if you already told me sweatdrop )? Are you in residence?

Uh-oh... I swear that Meri had... oh no! gonk
I came in here last night and Meri had posted. I was going to quote her and reply to her, but all of the pictures on my screen were red Xs... when I went to hit the quote button I must have hit the delete button instead. sweatdrop It was late and I was flitting back and forth between windows so I guess that's why I didn't notice that her post had disappeared. I ended up just going to bed. >_<
I'm so sorry, Meri. Hopefully you had your post saved or you remember what you said. Maybe I shouldn't be going to university if I'm not smart enough to hit the right button. redface

Raiva I'm going into second year too and I can't wait. I'm rooming with someone I actually like this year. Doing a Honors in Psyc, Major in Crim and Double Minor in French and Spanish. Less then a week left *does a happy dance* That sounds like a massive course load! My parents told me that my Double Major would be a lot of work, but it sounds as though you're doing twice as much as anyone else per year. Did you already know what your Honors, Major, and Double Minors were going to be in first year? I supposed if I had known what mine would be I could have alleviated some of the weight from my later years, but I took my first year as a sort of experimental session and took classes from many different areas. I'm doing some quick math in my head and I don't know how you're going to fit all that into four or even five years. Maybe I'm missing something, and you get some course overlap like I do in my Psychology and Family Studies Majors. Or maybe you're allowed to take more than five courses per year. Unfortunately we have a five course per year limit at my university. My brain will explode if I keep thinking so hard about something so confusing after five hours of sleep, so I'll end this here. xd

I'm a freshman, majoring in Psych, Kir ^_^
I'm also taking Japanese, Japanese Literature in the West, and Poly Science 211. Our classes start tomorrow and I'm really excited, for once whee
It's so nice to be able to choose my own courses. The only downside to this is, of course, the book fees. I had to buy nearly $400.00 of books this week confused

Just started my second semester... Same dorm building, same hall... two doors down and across the hall from my old room. Confusing? Hell yeah. Especially since my new phone number is EXACTLY THE SAME, except the last two digits are switched. eek gonk

That would be so confusing, Veet! I'm having trouble with my new number, as well. All of my previous phone numbers have involved repeating digits, but this one has all non-repeating and non-consecutive numbers. Also, I'm living 6 hours away from my home town, yet the first three digits are exactly like the ones from North Bay. It feels weird.

I'm going in 2006, but my big brother went this year. He goes to NC State. For some reason, he changed his major from engineering (which he woulda been excellent at, being as he's so good at math and science) to English and literature.

(My boyfriend was originally a computer major, and he's now english) I was originally a psychology major, and I switched into english, focusing on literature.

My English professor from last year tried to convince me to major in English. sweatdrop With all the shitty group work I'm doing in Psychology right now I almost regret not doing what she said. English is so much fun, and I'm really interested in it, but the essays freak me out. I always did fine on them, but the stress behind them drives me nuts.
