Also, I've heard a great deal of people saying that there making the second season and that F.B. wasn't exactly over. Is this true? I do not know 'cuz other people say no.

Volume 14 comes out around mid August.
There is not going to be another series. It wasnt over in comparision to the manga as it only covered 8 volumes but it is the end of the anime. The anime was nothing more than a way to get more fans into the series while Takaya was recovering from her op. However, it was only used as a teaser for the manga, to know about the series after volume 8 you have to read the manga. Another reason there will never be a second series is Akito being assumed Male in the anime when she is infact female. With that huge plot flaw it has prevent anything more from being done on the anime even if they wanted to. The main reason that there will never be another season even if they wanted one would be the loss of money it would cause. Japan hated the anime as it was too childish and happy for such a dark series.

I hate it when people say they can't make a second season because they mistaked Akito's gender. That's more the reason to make another series! To prove that he's actually a girl! Obviously xD

Kuroi2 I hate it when people say they can't make a second season because they mistaked Akito's gender. That's more the reason to make another series! To prove that he's actually a girl! Obviously xD Not when they have shots of Akito with his robe open, in the manga they don't have that. They cast Akito as specifically being male, they would have to redo the whole anime for Akito to be a woman. rolleyes Why don't you go argue about it with Takaya and the director, they were the ones who said it as a reason. There are more reasons than that though. Mainly being Japan hated the childish anime, and that it was never going to be anything more than a teaser for the manga. The anime was only created becasue of Takaya's op, it was nothing more than propaganda for the manga.

Well I say that the anime was not good. I thought it was sub-pear at the most. Furuba is a very dark series and it should not be potrayed in such a happy and gleeful way. furuba is a manga version of a soap opera basically. but i love it. it is the best manga by far i have ever read. it is the king or queen of all manga. anyone who liked the anime should shut up and read the manga and stop crying about a second season that will never be scream . Furuba was just a 26 episode anime like neon geneises evangelion and cowboy bebop. furuba the manga is king. but furuba the anime is a peasent. get over it stressed

Actually, I disagree. I thought the anime was great and I don't see how Japan could hate it for it's supposed childishness, confused and I have friends in Japan who say that the majority liked anime Furuba. Also, not to be offensive, you guys make it sound like it's as dark like neon genesis evangelion and to be honest, it really isn't that dark at all. Deeply sad and moving almost to tears, but not so dark it can't be portrayed as a happy show. The manga is cheerful for a lot of chapters. In conclusion, I LOVE the stinkin anime so stop bashing it please god! talk2hand Umm, yeah sweatdrop

The manga is as dark as Eva though, if not more. sweatdrop In a series where people are tortured, cursed, attacked, abused as children, fall off cliffs, get stabbed, get killed, comit suicide, get threatened, blackmailed, have one night stands, have mental problems and almost starve, how can it not be called dark?
When the anime was created a lot of the more darker scenes were cut out for happier scenes as those would attract new fans more. The anime covered eight volumes which were out at the time it started development, but by the time it was aired a lot more had come out and so the series had become more dark and current fans were enjoying it. Hence Japans dislike for it. Remember it was made to draw in new fans to the manga, not to please current ones. While new fans loved it, then loved the manga more, current fans disliked it and instantly prefered the manga.
Violet is right, to make it simple the manga is like a drama/soap opera, not a happy comedy. People who've only read the english version are likely to still think of it as a happy, cheerful series but those who follow the Japanese version would have seen the dark side fo Fururba. It's actually only growing happy at last now we've got just three more chapters to go. whee This is why many didn't like the fact that the anime cut out so many of the dark parts that they'd come to enjoy. However, as the anime was released before the manga came out it proved to be more popular in western countries, hence why it is more popular here than in Japan.
Refering back to the other popularity reason the director mentioned in his interview. The company who produced FB discovered Shojo's (girls) animes weren't as popular in Japan as Shounen (guys anime) anime. Fruits Basket fitted with this and infact recieved low ratings. This was also brought up in Takaya's interview when asked if there would be another season of the anime. This also fits to explain the popluarity in western areas, shoujo and shounen are about equaly popular in the US, Uk etc and so genre problems like this didn't apply to the series here.
Overall, it was just timing that proved to be Fruits Basket's downfall. Had a short story been created before the manga came out then it would have been more popluar but as the teaser was released after the manga was already running it didn't work as well. None of this is suposed or assumed, this is from the interviews that took place last year to clear up confusion over a second series. 3nodding
We're not bashing. Expressing a negative opinion about something is not bashing. Bashing something is purposely flaming a subject with no reasoning behind it in order to annoy and or create arguements. sweatdrop
