As custodian of the Mule accounts, I've decided we need some more cohesive management in this guild, and for this purpose i need help figureing out a council system.
Should we have the council be role-play, or non roleplay?
should only moderators be on the council?
how can we set up a thread that only the council can veiw/ post in? is that even possible?
anyway, i'd like some input on this, and any way we go, i'd like to get a description of ventinari's round office, or whatever it was called.. the one with the frieze of dancing rats, i think...

I'd say that the coucil should not be roleplay, so as to not create any confusion. People in the counsel need not be crew themselves, as they will most likely given the mules' passwords, and such will have the abiloity to do crew stuff as needed.
As for who would be on the counsel, we could do this in a number of ways. A. You pick a few members you think would be good for the posistion or B. democratic voting or some such.
(There are other ways, those are just a couple.)
Also, I'd like to request to be on the council though I'm not active in the guild often. Reasoning probably obvious. neutral

friends@gaia was disabled cause of the massive chainletters... if i want to send anything to the guild i have to do it by hand, like i did with the hogswatch ball. xp

Here's my idea. Make the council up of those who already have some kind of power in the guild, rp leaders etc, with Pocky holding ultimate power. Then have a suggestions thread for non council members to give ideas if they have any. If there's anyone who doesn't run a thread or something and for some reason deserves to be on the council, or someone comes along at a later date, then they can join to by joint agreement of the council.
Also I'd like to suggest a single storyline for the rp's to follow. I think it would help with cohesion and getting people to post consitently. Just a general thing that would effect the whole of Ankh Morepork.
For instance, Vetinari's poisoning in feet of clay. The Watch would obviously be consumed in investigating it, the assasin and thieves guilds would be worrying about who was going to replace him and vying for power etc. UU might be worried about the new ruler expecting them to pay taxes, perhaps looking for a magical cure.
Something that would efect the whole city. But not something from a book, something original. Also you could have weekly articles in the times about whatever has been happening to let non council members follow the important events that don't appear in their threads.
This would obviously be a joint venture by those in control of the rp threads, and it would be good if it was possible for a closed forum but if not we could do it via pm's so the participants don't know what's going to happen.

i'll need someone who's a little better at Rp than i am for this, but i thought i'd use Ventinari's journal to help people keep tabs on happenings in the guild, as well as my ankh-morpork times. you know, give multiple veiws, maybe make it more interesting.

urgh, i have a suggestion, seeing as in the books tha council was all the leaders of the major guilds(i.e. thread starters/leaders), and the archchancellor, maybe we could keep it as that? i agree with most of the other suggestions, but we need to figure out who should be head of which guilds, because people go on vacation, or get banned from the internet stressed (the naughty people), so we need to decide who's in charge of what as well
and could anyone spare some gold for a large palace and a feast?(tee hee) blaugh

arrow We should have one person in charge of updating Ventinari's journal with updates on what's happening in each guild/RP and the Overall RP
arrow we should have one person in charge of the point system Shisio created to help encourage the RP'ing
arrow we still have to figure out how to make leader talk private, so no plot developments etc get leaked to non-council members. the easiest way would be to create yet another gaia guild just for the council, but i think that's a little extreme, especially because people seem to have enough trouble remembering to post here.

I suggested a different xp system which I think would work better, with characters gaining personalised abilities based on individual characters which they can purchase with xp they earn from posting, where they get a certain amount of xp everytime they post in that character. If someone else wants to run it though go nuts, I've never been one for administration, though I'll do it for just the watch rp.
