She had always enjoyed singing to herself. In fact it's something she had done since she was a child. In the morning she'd get out of bed and start to sing about the things around her.*
"The hall way is dark to the bathroom but I'm not scared, oh no I'm not scared. The hall way to the bathroom is dark but it's morning now and I'm not scared, oh no I'm not scared." And that's how Cat, or better known as Catzi, would start her day. Many thought it was something she'd grown out of, but through the years that thought had been proven wrong. The only difference was that now she only sang when she was sure she was alone, so she wouldn't bother others. Point in fact she had begun to take walks in the woods near her house for just that reason, not to bother others with her unrelenting singing.
Her home had been too full of people for a while now to sing in. To many people to hear her for her to feel comfortable. So she wondered the woods singing to herself, letting her thoughts and voice carry themselves off into the distance unheard. Or at least that's what it had been like so far. Now stepping into a small tight grouping of trees she wasn't so sure. If truth be told she was sure she had heard a twinge break, and intake of breath.
But silence held within the trees around her as she stood still listening intently, nothing stirred and off in the distance she heard a bird cry. Maybe that had been all it was . . .
a far off bird. Yeah she could relax now, she could let go and sing in peace again. Smiling slightly she nodded to herself as she ducked under a branch and began to sing again.
"I still remember the world, From the eyes of a child, Slowly those feelings, Were clouded by what I know now. Where has my heart gone? An uneven trade for the real world, Oh I, I want to go back to, Believing in everything and knowing nothing at all . . ."Turning a familiar corner she found the clearing she had been looking for, a meadow where her adopted daughter had once played as a child.
"I still remember the sun, Always warm up my back, Somehow it seems colder now. Where has my heart gone? Trapped in the eyes of a stranger, I want to go back, To believe in everything."Sitting down on a log she lifted her head up to the sun, watching the clouds pass by her with a wistful smile. Turning her head slightly she looked into the forest and nearly feel off her perch. Two striking blue eyes met hers, two eyes with slits for pupils and a small face framing them. But as quickly as she had seen them they vanished and she was left wondering.
Looking into the woods she wondered if the eyes and their seemily shy owner had been attracted to her by her singing. Taking a gamble she again lifted her voice hoping the little one would again return.
"Iesu, Rex admirabilis et triumphator nobilis, dulcedo ineffabilis, totus desiderabilis."Her voice high and eternal (though still slightly rusty) sang the next line of the song, flinging the words deep into the forest around her do to it's high, though thankfully not painful, pitch. The eyes again returned. She stopped singing and locking eyes with the hiding creature she spoke softly.
"Please come out, I give my oath I wont harm you unless you harm me."
The eyes blinked and narrowed slightly as an almost sweet child like voice met her ears. "Why should I trust the oath of a human, you don't have to keep you're word."
That comment, those eyes, the face that held them set like jewels in the cold semi dark of the wood, it stirred something within Cat. A memory she couldn't place, but she knew she needed him to come closer to her, he needed her some how. Searching her brain she tired to figure out how to get him closer. But how do you the convince someone to trust you when you haven't had time to earn their trust . . .
desperationCocking her head a little to the side she looked at the deep blue eyes quizzically. "Well let's put this logically. There are a few points here that make me think that you can come out so I can at least talk to you while seeing you." Pausing for a moment to collect her self she felt strongly inclined to turn her body to face him, but didn't for fear he would run.
"One you're obviously secure enough in your ability to fight me because you've been following me for a little bit now, two you must be following me for a reason, most likely because you need something from me, and three I'm most willing to give what you need if you would only tell me what it is. And to put aside all that, I give you my oath, so you see . . . ." she paused for a moment and looked steadily into the dark patch that surround the eyes hoping he would understand that she meant to get his name.
"Kitto" the voice said softly
"Kitto" she said the name breathily, trying to remember exactly where it came from, it seemed so familiar. "that my oath, though valid, doesn't mean much since either why you look at things, it seems simply unlikely that I could harm you. After all if I could or wanted to I would have already, no?"
Blue eyes blinked for a few moments and tentatively, slowly, a body and face emerged to match those eyes. Pearliest skin, a diminutive body, and his curly black shoulder length hair met Cat's gaze and quickened her heart. She knew him . . . he was a character from one of her favorite books, he was a fantasy character, he shouldn't be real . . .

((* Most of Cat's characterzations are base on me in real life (as I see me) and yes as I child I really did sing like that, all the time. My parents talk about it all the time when talking about me as a kid lol.))
