I have a similar topic in my own guild but it mainly relates to vampires.

I've heard from several places about people tracking down and harming otherkin for one reason or another. My request to you is:

Do you know of any groups that target vampires/otherkin?

Have you had any experiences with these hunters?

Know anybody that's a hunter?

You can also discuss the general hostility towards otherkin amongst the unawakened.

I don't recall ever meeting any "hunters" online, or at all, that I'm aware of. Though, I do remember the first time I had heard about them from this one "informatibe" website with partially inaccurate information about Otherkin. To be honest, when I had first heard of them, I laughed. It almost seemed like a really stupid joke of sorts, or like one of those Chain letters you find in your e-mail inbox every now and again where you read it and go "You've got to be kidding me..".

It wasn't long after that that I was speaking with my only HLV contact at the time, he told me what he could about vampirism and I eagerly listened and asked questions. Anyway, I told him about this ridiculous thing I had read about on the internet, about these "hunters", or "slayers". It only took about a second after I inputted the message and I could tell that the conversation's mood had suddenly shifted. He told me that they were real. I asked how it was possible, as HLVs are clearly not like the Hollywood portrayal of Vampires(at the time, I didn't know much about Therianthropes or Otherkin.) and they weren't malevolent or anything. He said something along the lines of those people think that HLVs are evil and they..well..resort to..for lack of a better word..Vigilanteism to rid the world of what they perceive to be "evil" or threatening.

I guess the anti-Otherkin hostility among the unawakened is like homophobia among closet cases. *shrugs* I guess it's just people who can't come to terms with who they are and have tried to repress it and they just blindly hate those who haven't, and who have the courage to face and accept who they really are and to face the music, so to speak. I guess it's almost an envy thing..in a strange sort of way..

On a semi-related note: Is it even possible to repress your true nature, if you will, even if your true nature is a vampiric one? If it was possible to repress such a thing, do you think that it would ever be possibly to undo the fact that it was repressed?

Closet cases is right. Christianity ruined the world for Otherkin. I mean serously look at history. Before it became big the only time an Otherkin would be killed for being so was if they killed people because of it.

On a semi-related note: Is it even possible to repress your true nature, if you will, even if your true nature is a vampiric one? If it was possible to repress such a thing, do you think that it would ever be possibly to undo the fact that it was repressed?

You can attempt to repress it but it eventually always comes back out. That being the case, I don't think you'd ever have to work on undoing the repression.

I was a hunter....kinda but I hunted demons and such.
I know/knew a few hunters of vampires and some quit after they started to hang out with vampires and others increased their eforts.

I've heard of vampire hunter extremists down in the south. They are usually very strict Southren Baptist Christians who believe in the Hollywood Style vampires. I'm sure based on the skeptism that otherkin recieve in general, that any such groups would have a hard time actually completing their goals, seeing as the police force would step in and they'd be sent to a mental institution.
