No anime can really be better than another. Sure, one anime can have more elements than another and can be better at effectuating said elements, but it's all opinion-based 3nodding
As for good animes and mangas, check out:
-full metal alchemist
-naruto
-DN Angel
-Prince of Tennis
-Bleach
- Yami no matsuei (descendants of darkness)
- Hellsing
- Kamikaze kaitou jeanne
-full moon wo sagashite
- fushigi yugi
- furuba (fruits basket)
- peacemaker kurogane

gonk I couldn't pick in the polls crying but oh well, I decided that Samurai X got my vote.. it was damn sad so I couldn't help it.
But man, I love a few of those animes you put in the poll, like Descendents of Darkness and Naruto and Samurai Champloo.. (yes it's spelt with a 'C' and not a 'S')
But i have many favorite animes so I really don't feel like naming them right now.

Hmm I like a lot of anime, like Fma, Naruto,Fushigi yuugi,D.N.Angel,Saiyuki,Samurai champloo, fruits basket, Escaflowne,InuYasha, and anything by Hayao Miyazaki

out of all these options i only like Naruto, but there are better ones other than that, like BLEACH currently im watching that and that is my favourite right now.
