I have to admit, I was mildly horrified.

Yesterday, I went on a tour of the big city and we stopped at a whole bunch of places for food. It was a food lovers tour. Well, one of them was an Asian Marketplace. I went into the supermarket, and I went looking for the bathroom. A map took me to the meat section, where I was mildly horrified. Specifically toward the pigs feet, with skin, and the whole fish. I felt as though I would throw up, and I ran out of the section to the candy eisle. Now, who wouldn't? But I was pleased to find that they had a vegetarian section as well.

wow, a few years ago i went to a fish market, and there was a man cutting the hearts out of live fish and throwing the still writhing fish into a bloody bucket of water. i was absolutely disgusted by this cruelty. i've heard of people eating eels live, and, i dont know if it's true, but my frend told me about people who eat the brains of monkeyes...while the monkeys are alive. to me, this sort of thing is sick, but actually, what is the difference between eating a cow toungue or rocky mountain oysters, or a steak? or chicken McNuggets? i dont know where i'm going with this. i guess, it just depends on the culture u come from. par example, the masai tribe who live in kenya/tanzania drink a mixture of blood and milk, and this is thier staple. at first i was grossed out by this but everyone eats blood whenever they eat meat. i'm a veg*n, btw. i do it for the animals in big farms.

Ugh, that sounds disgusting. I remember going to a big fresh foods market in Budapest and the meat section was more than just a little bit too gory for my taste. All that blood and the smell...yuck...

I'm not a vegan, but I do frequent two vegan restaurants in my area. And I do get overwhelmed by the corpses hanging as window display..even though my meal probably ends up being composed of them. But just wanted to let some you vegans know that if you go to a Thai restaurant...(I find that Asian cuisine offers a lot of Vegetarian and Vegan options...and vegans that I know do love Thai and Indian). Please be aware that even though your Coconut-Vegetable curry or Fried tofu seems vegan...perhaps a splash of Fish sauce could have been used in the sauce or dipping sauce since its such a common condiment. Oh by the way...Koreans have live sea animals on some of their restaurant menus. They take small live octupus and dip in a sauce and I guess stuff them in their mouth....um, I wonder if you're supposed to chew it or just swallow it whole. Crazy.

Even though I'm a vegetarian, I think it's important to remember that the natural world is full of such horrors. For instance, if you were to come apon a hungry, although cute, large predatory beast, that animal would no doubt eat you alive writhing in pain without a thought to it.

More importantly, concern should be directed to the unnatural behaviors our species subscibes to: controlling animal populations for consumption, didling with their genetics to produce a "better" cow and over-riding the natural flow of nature. Also, over fishing the planet to the point where many wild species are likely to go extint and causing a gross negative impact on our oceans and rivers, the blood of the earth.

Sure eating meat is gross to many people and I respect, and almost share, that opinion. But it doesn't hold a candle to the gross misconduct we inflict on the natural order of things as well as the earth itself. How do we know the earth doesn't feel pain? But I expect all the creatures who are impacted by our irresponsible ways feel the pains of lost habitats, and food supplies, and more.

Let's not forget that our misconduct affects our own species as well: High rates of Cancer, and the development gross obesity and laziness as commonplace within our species, just to name a few.

Yucky. Me and my mom went to a Asian market where they had a bunch of dead animals. They had spicy chicken feet and a lot of other gross stuff. It made me sick.

Quote:
The soup menudo is a traditional Mexican dish, made with beef stomach in a clear broth or occasionally with a red chile base (this variation is called menudo colorado). It is traditionally served on special occasions or with family. Usually, lime, chopped onions, and chopped cilantro are added, as well as crushed oregano and crushed red chili peppers. Boiled tripe has a tough chewy texture very similar to calamari, but with a completely unique flavor and smell.

I'm a big meat eater, but for the most part I prefer the straight meat, not all the body parts. Blekh. I was sixteen before I could even eat drumsticks at KFC, and in my twenties before I could eat anything else with bones. I can't stand seeing anything's head or feet or whatnot.
