From a non religons stand point, yes. the origens of reiligon are from the human race needing something to look forward to after death, to die dignified.Or to help make control of the people in the first code of caws.

I'm not sure exactly what you guys are talking about, but I wanna add my 10 cents too rofl
Religion, is man-made. I do believe that it is a tool created for various purposed. It boosts morale when you can claim that your God will help you win a battle. And throughout history, Religious propaganda has been used to fuel the tides.
As you said, it gives people hope, because as humans, we need to believe in "something". None of us wanna die alone. So we make up all these grand ideas about heaven and paradise.
It serves to control people. There is no such thing as a sin. The bible says that there is no sin greater than another, all sins are equally punishable in the eyes of God. Has anyone ever bothered to read the bible properly? The 10 commandments was not the only laws that governed the Isrealites. There were hundreds of laws, preventing them from doing just about anything.
The main culprit, in modern times, is the Roman Catholic Church. Maybe I'll say more about it in the future, but maybe we have some Catholics in the Guild.....
Anyway, by now you've noticed that I'm not much of a fan of religion. Religion is supposed to bring balance to a chaotic world, yet, it brings even more chaos with it.
I'm spiritual. I used to be a Christian. A Baptist, to be exact. But only because my parents were. I still believe in some form of higher power, or greater being. But I do not believe that he/she is a god with a bad temper. I have seen many things, travelled to different parrallel universes, commicated with the dead and even with spirits and demons. I know what lies beyond, I don't need the church to tell me right from wrong. I believe there is nothing more usefull, than first-hand experience.....
