The Cleric

Sitting alone and weeping,
Is a cleric that has been shunned.
The cleric has long been thinking,
Of the terrible deed he has done.

A friend that once truly was cherished,
By the clerics blade now has perished.
This is the terrible deed he has done,
For this the cleric is shunned.

Abandoned by his order,
For abandoning his code.
He is ashamed for crossing a border
Set by his chosen road.

He fears the life of damnation,
That he knows is of his own creation,
Created of the deed he has done,
The deed for which he is shunned.

It was a crime of ignorance,
He thought it a just kill,
But his friend was completely innocent,
And was overcome by a wicked spell.

Driven by another,
To do malicious deeds,
The cleric saw no other
Way to stop these horrible things.

Unknown to him there was a way
To save his loyal friend,
The cleric had only to say
A phrase by which the spell would end.

Throwing aside all intelligence,
For just brute strength and might.
There was no other solution of relevance,
No hope, within his sight.

In one moment- he held his breath,
He lifted his blade for the ending swing,
And death,
To his friend he did bring.

Though he has committed just this one sin,
Afraid that his morals had run thin,
The cleric prepares,
To end a life he knew would begin.

He raises his knife,
Lest,
He cause more pain and more strife,
He plunges it deep in his chest…

The cleric has ended his life
