I guess I'm really just annoyed at the coldness with which the whole soul-feeding is regarded. Nobody brings it up unless it's crucial to the plot. Most notably the episode last night, just dropping souls into the girl, and nobody seems to care or be at all distressed by the fact that that girl is staying alive by absorbing other girls.
Honestly that soul eating thing is one of the biggest defences to Kikyou Bashers (not that I'm saying your one) for the few who can get past the one post of "I HATE HER SHE SHOULD DIE...AGIAN!" I personally think (and this is just my opinion) that she has earned the right to roam the world. What I really want to know, is why Kikyou, a priestess who dedicated her life for good would go to hell? She keeps saying she'sll drag who ever to the pits of hell with her,...but why hell? Is it because now she is corrupt with reveneg? I don't understand. gonk
Are you saying she deserves to stop other sould from moving on to the next life/be reborn because she was good when she was alive? Shes not the real Kikyou, she was never alive.
Even if she was, what right would she have to walk on Earth. She isn't helping anyone, shes hurting people and creating more conflict. Other people shouldn't be screwed over because of her own selfish desires.
Everyone has the right to walk the earth. It's only if they do so at the expense of others that it comes into question.
For example, somebody walks around as a result of being reanimated as a mummified body seeking happiness. No problem as long as they obide by the same moral codes a living human would be subjected to.
Person comes back from the dead and maintains life by absorbing the souls of newly dead girls, then we have a potential conflict.
It's not the fact that she's going around after her death that's a moral issue. It's the fact that she's doing so at the expense of various other dead girls.

I hate when Kagome haters say that. It is KAGOME who is telling Inuyasha that she doesn't care who he chooses. She is trying to lighten his burdan of having to choose. "Kikyou" however, is not. You can't blame Kagome for getting mad, and she only left because of Kikyou ONCE...

Actually, it wouldn't be right to call the soul "Kikyou" It's not that the soul IS either of them. Kagome having the same soul as Kikyou does not make her have the same personality in any way. It would be more accurate to say that the soul in Kagome possess what Kikyou once was and what Kagome is now. Their hearts aren't the same, and never were.

Kikyou... Is not a bad character, she's just misunderstood sometimes. Every action she makes is an action towards her goal, getting revenge on Naraku. That's why she eats souls. She wants to survive because she wants to kill Naraku, sure people may think, 'but that's so cruel eating souls like that!' but really... She has a purpose.
Sure she doesn't have a soul of her own, but I love her. She cares for the sick, loves to be around children and in Saturday nights episode she helped a woman just like her, even though that woman kind of wanted to die. She's not evil, a b***h, stupid, she's a priestess who's quit witted, strong and kind of unpredictable at times.
So yeah... How could you hate a character who has done so much? Accually... I really don't want an answer to that.

But are any of these demons that are devouring people for self preservation taking steps to stopping Naraku? Or are they just helping themselves?
I'm not equating her with demons, but there are some measures that should not be resorted to.

I see her as nothing more than a selfish pitty obsessed twit. I think she complains to much, hates to easily, and is nothing like the graceful and kind real Kikyou (Kikyou, Kagome...same thing. The Kikyou of the past and Kagome...shes unlike either of them)

Her whole existance is hurting more than its helping. Just the fact that she chooses not to rest is bad enough, but she chooses to live at the expence of others. The souls she collects deserve the chance to fly on and be reborn, not keep a useless creature alive. She keeps Inuyasha lingering on his past for her own sake, forcing him to keep on looking at the past instead of moving on.
((I could go a this more, but I am sure its no crap you people haven't heard before)
As for the comment about the complaining, wwatch the series. Every time she talks to anyone, its always negitive, and often about herself.
Kikyou "lovers" can keep on worrshipping their fake Meiko, but I am still totally lost as to why she even has fans..
A real Kikyou fan loves Kagome XD Just my opinion anyway, but think if it this way: If Kagome ever got her memories back, she could become more like Kikyou (yes, the real one..the one we only saw for 4 minutes in one episode!!!!!JOY TO ALL!!!!)
I hate Kagome. I love Kikyo. I will never ever ever love Kagome. I don't consider Kikyo a fake miko. There was only four minutes of your "real" Kikyo. So this "fake" Kikyo seems real to me. Kikyo is a pretty, nice, caring, and a wonderful woman. I'm sure Kagome has some good points.... But all I see is an annoying, skanky, and stupid wench. Kagome is nothing like Kikyo and if InuYasha chooses that b***h Kagome, his loss.

Granted, she comes off as bitchy. She gets abusive at times with the sit commands.
Mainly, Kikyo is still dead and lost forever. The Kikyo we have now is hollow, her emotions barely able to occasionally splash out of the well of emptyness that is her inner being.
But, this is all digression. WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT WHO INU HOOKS UP WITH?!
That seems to be the deciding factor in who you like or don't like.

First of all, she helps a lot of people. You said it yourself, she is good to the children, and taught some of them medical tricks to heal. Evil, isn't it? She also helped that old man on the mountain by taking part of him to the shrine. And, I do believe that in all but their last sentance together, she said nothing of herself. She lied about her true personality so he could live in ignorant bliss. Gosh, that witch, I tell ya.
Nextly, the Kikyo Inuyasha knew before her death was shown throughout the entire series. She was in bits and pieces of many episodes, and almost an entire episode in the first season. The Kikyo after death isn't much different... she is just sad. She is hurt, and doesn't have anyone to confide in. Do you honestly expect her to be as peppy as Kagome, or as serene as she was before?
Take your own advice, and watch the series. Also, it is pointless to hate a character. It is pointless to hate anything.

She doesn't EAT SOULS TO EVERYONE WHO SAYS THAT! She will give the souls back when she peacefully goes back to the otherworld. She DOES LOVE INUYASHA! Even Kagome admitted it. Kikyo can love whoever she wants.
