A small boy stooped in the corner of the large room, painting on a piece of dirty canvas paper that he had found somewhere. He was roughly nine in age, and quite thin haing a picky apetite and love for running about, but above all, he adored art.
His looks were typical of a young boy, shaggy blonde hair and a dirty face, which was at the moment dusted with charcoal from is art. He had been listening into the converstaions for a little while and now decided to speak up. "Goofy is a cow... how else would you explain his girlfriend being a cow?"

The boy looked up confused, dropping his pad and charcoal pencils to climb atop the television, looking down at the picture. "Then why is Pluto still a doggie huh?"

It seemed that they had done this simply to confuse the children, as entertaining as it was, it lead to false beliefs that one part of a species could evole far differently than another, like Pluto and Goofy, who owned the lesser. It was quite a contraversial concept for mere children to be arguing over.

So, having done that, the boy hopped down from the TV, cocking his head up while he stared at the noir haired boy. "Who are you anyways?"

He nodded, a bit more than an adult would. "Nice to meet you Ciel o' Course.. I'm Dane." The boy then continued across the room, grabbing his picture and returning under the swinging Ciel, holding the canvas high up so he could see. "It's a butterfly, see? Momma told me they's represent freedom.."

The poor thing didn't really understand what he was talking about, all he knew is that they were pretty and hard to catch, so maybe that's what she meant by it.

The boys eyes danced with fear at the sound of the word 'death'. He too knew far too much about that, and was opposed to ever hearing it again, and the mention of dragons made matters worse. Dane took a few steps back as he spoke, whimpering to himself as the scene drew on, until he just couldn't take it anymore, and did what any little kid would do, he burst out into tears, falling to the floor, vocalizing his pain.

But just before he did, a larger girl walked up behind him, patting his head as he cried, rubbing her soft fingers behind his ears. She was a lot taller than him, and a lot cleaner in respect. About 13 in age, actually still twelve, her hair fell lightly across her shoulders, the same shade as his, a he was her little brother, and she, his guardian. "What's the big deal huh? Where do you get off making him cry like that?" She picked him up, hiking him onto her hi, letting him cry against her shoulder as he had done in the past.

Her breath caught in her throat, as did her words, but she was determined to protect her little brother, after all they had been through, a kid her own age was nothing. "No.. he knows the world is a bad place.. but I at least want him to see that not all people are bad, and that some stand for peace in this war filled world!"

Her voice echoed through the room, her mind torn with the thoughts of her own parents. She was a new kid here, so her pain was still there, though the ones who stayed longer tended to forget their pasts. Dane ceased his crying but remained burried in her arms. "Not all of us have the ability to forget... I just want him to be happy..."

She gently sat Dane down, telling him to go play with the other kids, which he gladly obliged, taking his picture along with him, only after he was out of sight did she speak. "You listen ya little brat!" She took a few steps foreward, standing as close to him as she felt appropriate, then she glared up at him, only a couple inches shorter, but it was still something. "You may have had a hard life, but you have no -idea- what we've been through together. You were probobly just as pampered as a child weren't you? You grew up in Joahnn is that right? Well, we didn't have the privaledge. We grew up under Kasch's reign. We saw the dragons, and it wasn't his who brought us here, it was Imre and his merciless dragon!"

She remembered it vividly, the dragon that filled the sky with smoke, sheilding the sun from their eyes, then burning down countless people in his wake, the length of his body crushing many buildings as he flew by with incredible speed.

She huffed, turning and following close behind him. It was true that girls were reluctant, though now she was fed up with this conversation, and instead interested in who he was. She hadn't talked to someone from Joahnn before, and saw this a good a time as ever. "Hey, you! Wait up a second!"
