Ho, freedom. She had finally managed to get Surandor to look after the twins. For once. Perhaps that was the good in having the foals' sire be one of her best friends. Although, whether or not Randor was her best friend was an inward debate she had had going ever since the twins had come, and she had always doubted his loyalty to her and Shakil. And in truth, she didn't quite trust him completely.
Kaderac stepped forward toward the water hole, eager for a moment's peace and quiet. She wanted to put more space between herself and the twins, so that they wouldn't think they could find her again by creating chaos back with Surandor in the yurt.

Goldeneye stepped warily into the warm sand, grimacing as a small beetle made it's way over his hoof. He quickly trotted away from the place, his one eye looking about wildly.
Goldeneye felt as if his eye was finally not a burden; at least now he had one less eye to get sand in. As a youngster, he had been teased horribly by other horses because of his missing eye, and was going to be sent to a literal glue factory before he was rescued by his current owner.
He pranced in the sand a bit, his eye widening as he saw many more icky, crawling beetles emerging from the depths of the sand.
"Time to leave," he said to himself quietly, quickly turning the other direction.

She saw, from far off so that he was like a tiny figurine that would fit nicely atop a cake, a black stalion trotting this way and that. She cocked her head curiously. Was he dancing? She couldn't see what he really was like, he was so far off, but she seemed to see faint light splotches when she squinted.
She watched as he turned and made his way in her direction. She hesitated, stopping for a moment, before swinging to trot out toward him. Curious.

Goldeneye trotted blindly backwards as he saw even more bugs come up from under the sand. He was so frightened that the white of his one eye showed clearly, and he grimaced and turned.
As he turned, he spotted a mare directly behind him and screamed.
"Oh my, oh my..." he said, gasping for breath. He blinked and looked to the ground. "You scared me there, deeply sorry..."

"What the-" She flinched and shied away at his scream, shaking her head. She could see how scared he was, though, and decided against yelling at him. She shook her head again. "Sorry. You kinda scared me too, with your screamin'" She stopped a moment to catch her breath, staring at him curiously. "What were you so scared of? I'd never trot backwards like what you did unless I was totally freaked out."

Goldeneye refused to look at her straight on, since one of his eyes was gone it might frighten her. Instead, he looked at her from his good side, and didn't make eye contact.
"Well, f-first I saw a b-beetle, then there were m-m-more," he stuttered slightly, nervously. "And with you there all of a sudden... I'm sorry, I'm Goldeneye."
He shook his head a little, and said something else. "I'm sorry about that, I'm considered a little squeamish, a little eccentric, by most."
(( He's based off of Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow personality-wise, but color-wise, Ichabod's horse, Gunpowder. ))

"Beatles?" She said curiously, looking downward. Sure enough, scores of little bugs were writhing about in and out of the sand. It was enough to draw a shudder, but they were only bugs, after all. "Oh." She looked up at him again, wondering why he was staring at her from the side. "I'm Kaderac. Why... are you called Goldeneye?"

He nodded. "Beetles scare me." He laughed a little and picked up his right foreleg to shake off a persistant black beetle that was intent on climbing up his leg.
He looked at her straight on now, both his good eye and his missing eye visible. "The left eye is the reason. There is no eye there."
He shuddered a little at more beetles, but was relieved as they sunk back into the sand.

"Oh, I see. I'm sorry." Had she met this horse back in Europe, she would have probably fainted. As it was, she had seen so much here already that something as trivial as a missing eye hardly bothered her anymore. Already, she could feel herself warming up to this strange horse, and appearance didn't much matter in the friends that she made.

Goldeneye shrugged. "It's no big deal, I've gotten used to it. The depth perception is a little off, but at least I can see."
He trotted over to a bucket of cool water that his owner had put out and drank deeply, his soft nose getting wet. "You thirsty?" he asked the mare.

"But you can't see both sides, then. That's gotta be hard. What if you were racing?" She followed him over to the bucket of water. "Not really, but I wouldn't mind some water."

He laughed a bit at the mention of racing. "Naw, no racing for me. Pureply a pleasure and breeding horse." He backed away from the water bucket to allow the mare to get closer. Then he added, "Besides, I'm considered too shy and squeamish to race."

"Thanks." She dipped her muzzle into the bucket. "Well, I don't think I'm fast enough to race anyway. I think Shakil is the only one of the three of us who's good enough for racing. Me and Surandor, we got our own problems. Maybe that's why we're here. See, I was born with this weird fear of humans."

Goldeneye stared at the mare and blinked his one eye. "Magi, Zable, and Lesley are almost the exact same way," he said quietly. "But Ufo, Jack, Diablerie and I wouldn't be able to survive without them, even if we were all born here and the other three weren't."
