OH HI WELCOME TO SCIENCE IS NOT YOUR ENEMY. If you claim to be something (a panther) from this world, you cannot also have wings or be a color I have never seen an animal be.
Let's also talk about the "otherkin is only animals noob!!!1" Now this is a common belief, maybe even amongst you guys. But sadly it's called THERIANTHROPY. Being not-quite-natural myself, or even feasibly existent in this world, I don't usually rush into any guild that says OTHERKIN HERE because I'll get that warm response. But a vampire? OH HI WELCOME TO OUR OTHERKIN COMMUNITY biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin SO YOU DRINK BLOOD RIGHT.
Also, phantom limbs. Yeah. It might also be called hallucination. Or you know, a really bad acid trip. Listen, don't say OFMGH IM A DRAGON I FELT WINGZ N TAILS. Hey, guess what! Chances are you're just as equally a bird, or a bat. ENJOY YOUR WORLD BEING SHATTERED! Also the people that just talk and talk about them like "yeah i hate it when my tail gets stuck in a chair lols. ^_____________^" No I don't feel that because my spirit does not make a mental or physical impact on me. I think that pain in your back is not your wings but in fact a problem with your shoulderblades dude get that checked out seriously happened to my aunt turned out to be cancer.
I can't prove I'm a Kitsune, nor will I honestly rush to. But this is my rant. I feel lots better now. It's only fair to let you guys vent here as well.
Oh yeah. Don't confuse furries with otherkin either. heart

I find it laughable that you're trying to attach any form of science to the concept of otherkin.
To you, someone's claim may be batshit crazy but to someone else your claim is just the same.
Ever hear of phantom limb syndrome? It happens when someone is an amputee yet they can still feel their old limb and it hurts. That's what most people describe their phantom limbs such as wings and tails as being like.
You can't say who's bullshitting and who isn't; this is the Internet, afterall.

I don't try to add a strict science to it, I try to add one based around seeing so many otherkin communities and research. Which is hard, because everyone has radically different ideas.

If one were to believe in the whole concept of the Otherworld, I suppose you could end up with wings. But those that do usually don't mention the fact because it comes with a bad response. Hell, usually they don't even consider that their animal soul, but a relatively interesting past life that occasionally gives them a phantom limb feeling.
I agree with the whole "You can't sit on a tail if it's NOT THERE! >.<" I've ranted at people for that before. However something becoming sore or cramped "especially in wings" could be from emotion of atmosphere. It is a metaphysical thing, so it reacts more to energy around oneself. So unhappy, excess of energy = cramped astral limbs.
Does anyone consider that? No. Too much thought process involved. -.-
Anywho, that's all I really have to say. I do want to say that your rant was awesome and I got a kick out of it. ^.^ I've screamed most of it at the computer on some forum or another before trying to calm down and post nicely. domokun

This is quite an insult to any otherkin. The first part is ok yeah i dont like it to be used as a dating service but i did find my boyfriend over the internet and we have been living together for a year happily mind you so i cant say anything about internet dating unless you dont intend to make it physical. Some of this rant is just funny the blood drinking actualy made me giggle.
sorry to hear about your aunt but phantom limbs can hurt i know i have a tail i cant sit for to long regardless of the chair or it starts to hurt me. Oh and i dont do any form of drugs. Im also compleatly healthy atleast thats what my doctor tells me. I have also considered its my posture since i dotn have the best but it dosnt make sence as to why that area would be effected.
but it never does get caught or anything and its not like i can sit on it its probably just having something to close to my back that it would be cramping if it was really there or something i cant really explain it very well since i just figured out i was otherkin not to long ago. Im not even sure of what i am -.-
but to say you are a kitsune and critisize people that say they are a cat with wings is rediculouse this thread alone damages your credibility and had you posted this in an actual otherkin guild you would have most likely been kicked out.
This is my short rant: as far as your soul not making a mental impact on you maby you should get intouch with it. Or perhaps its dead.

I agree with you partly, some people treat it like it's the best damn thing they'll experience. Really, it's nothing amazing; to me anyway. I still have to put my pants on one leg at a time. I tried two legs at a time once, and fell over.
And there are misconceptions that float around.
But about the phantom limbs, Johnny has a point. To me, the feeling of wings is like 'recorded stimuli'. It's a sensation that been with me for a long time.
But you're entitled to your opinion.

I kind of agree here...one of the things I was taught in both Psychology, Parasychology and my particular branch of wicca is that your soul, bidy and mind are not three totally seperate aspects on yourself they effect (sp? dont remember which is which) each other, like tension headaches or stress causing an ulcer, it goes deeper and has more to it than these examples, but I fugured I should give two examples validated by science. Also all I have ever been taught points to the need to have your three souls (psyche, ka, soma) how do I put this more syncronized and on the same level. Healing one can oft heal the other and all that jazz. I kid you nit the second ritual I ever learned was one requesting that all three souls be straight within me. I also am guilty of blinking twice when someone starts bitchin about the claws on their feet digging into their nine elemental tails and causing them pain. There is a magic to science and vice versa, but who are you to define reality for any one? If you can believe me when I say I am undine, or water/sea-fey can you not do so if I tell ya my daddy was a demon and like as a result I have four tails, am a pink panther, and have really cool fangs? As for animals not coming in color, ummm I could probably breed a blue or purple cat or panther given the time to selectivel breed those with more purple or blue tint to their fur, or quicker yet given the knowledge and technology needed to do so. My point is magic and science rarely disprove each other because both are founded on personal beliefs that you have proven to yourself or/and others. And if science could do it, why not God/Goddess or magic?

I believe an otherkin to be anyone Who believes that they have a form other then there current form. I find it annoying how people seem to jump onto the band wagon of forms or come up with there own forms. How they always seem to be aesthetic and don't go into some of the more
unpleasent aspects of there form. LIKE OMG YOU ******** DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW DRAGONS MATE LAY EGGS ETC?????
That doesn't even go into cultural aspect of species etc and the variances there. I mean YOU DON"T PICK A FORM YOU ARE THAT FORM... form is independent of desire thought etc. Just because I think dragons are pretty and I change my form to a dragon... and hell I could CREATE those limbs and feel them if I ******** wanted to. I KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MY FORM DURRRRRRRRR ITS NOT THAT HARD I can make others feel it see it interact with it it doesn't change the form my soul was born with. It doesn't change the culture my soul grew up in. It doesn't change ANYTHING but what other people percieve
Its not like what alot of people portray it to be and then interspecies breeding crosses etc... there is a limit to how that works and not all of the forms are pleasent. The turn out for such things can be REALLY odd and as far as I know about spirits... alot of people are cross breeds or different variations of currrent forms alot of times small variances small crossings between similar species if at all.
I've seen some very Wierd crosses in the realms and alot of wierd forms...
I do understand alot of things about feeling the wings. If I passed my hands through them or my soul interacted with the wings people could feel them.
Its Kinda fun to abuse the privledges of people sencing there spirit and being able to mess with people through that.
I do know alot of people latch onto a form a traditional form or sometimes even create a form. I want to slap them... sometimes because they're constructions lack in detail and actuality of form or specifics. I mean THE WINGS ARE STIFF AND DON"T MOVE WHAT HAPPENED TO ACTUAL STRUCTURE?
What happened to muscles and detail... I mean if your going to pirate a form at least do it PROPERLY

I'm personally annoyed with those threads that have appeared in the main forums that get shot down and then tossed into ChatterBox because it's "spam" to everyone else. sweatdrop
Sadly it seems the only place to discuss anything is on personal forums... or like in the guilds. Closed off to everyone else except those invited.
Actually, even then, one of the guilds I was in I am told got hacked. The guild leader's avatar got stripped down, and they started going through and changing all the titles of the threads and the content inside, deleting posts, etc.
It is disappointing when you do talk to someone and... it gets hard to even believe them. I don't know if someone has thought the same of me though, just even considering the fact that I believe I'm a dragon. Although... I don't think I've had another therian/otherkin actually voice anything to me... sweatdrop
