Andrew McMahon and Jack's Mannequin

Andrew McMahon (born September 3, 1982) is a Maverick recording singer/songwriter under the pseudonym Jack's Mannequin.
He is also the vocalist, pianist and main songwriter for the Geffen/Drive-Thru Records band Something Corporate.

Hes the ethereal voice, songwriting powerhouse and full-contact keyboardist behind Something Corporate, the piano-rock quintet praised by one critic for its combination of intelligent lyrics, infectious melodies and killer piano.
Now Andrew McMahon is taking something of a spring break from the band with which hes practically lived for the last four years in order to offer up an angst-flavored side project.
In the guise of Jacks Mannequin comes Everything in Transit, a highly personal theme album by McMahon and collaborators, due for a July 2005 release on Maverick Records.
Its clear that, like his longtime band, McMahons latest venture defies an easy pigeonhole

And what does Andrew McMahon hope to accomplish with Jacks Mannequin and Everything in Transit?
A chance to vocalize a difficult period in his life, and to broaden his musical landscape.
He also looks to bring fresh energy back to Something Corporate and to draw greater attention to the band.
Given the musical density of this side project and his rise as a talented and iconoclastic performer, theres no doubt Andrew McMahon will be a magnet for audience attention no matter the musical platform.

On May 26, 2005 (a good two months before the release of Jack's Mannequin's debut album Everything in Transit), a major setback forced McMahon to cancel all of his upcoming concerts.
After a medical examination in connection with a relentless case of laryngitis, McMahon was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Since the illness was diagnosed in its early stages, McMahon's doctors had high hopes for a full recovery.

Over the following couple of months, McMahon received various types of treatment, all the while updating his blog, to keep his fans informed on the progress of his condition.
August 23, 2005 marked a very significant date for him for two reasons: Firstly, it was the day his album Everything in Transit was released, debuting at #37 of the Billboard 200 with over 22,000 copies scanned within its first week.
Secondly, it was the day he received a stem cell transplant, with his sister Katie McMahon serving as the donor.
