This thread will explain how the Vehicle Points System works. Vehicle points are calcuated from base values (the values a car would have stock) and upgrade values (the values that the various upgrades possess).

The upgrade values are very easy to understand. Simply look at the list of parts, and to the right of every part you will see a point value -- this is the number of points that part will add to that attribute.

Base values are also simple, but much harder to find. If you would like to estimate the point values of a car, in considering whether or not to purchase it, I suggest using the instructions in the following post, as well as these resources for car specifications:

http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/
http://autos.msn.com/
http://www.supercars.net/
http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/
http://www.engine-power.com/
http://www.internetautoguide.com/car-specifications/index.html
http://www.maximum-cars.com/
http://importcarspecs.com/index.php

If all of the above fail (highly unlikely), try putting "*name of car* specs" into google, or "*name of car* *attribute*" if you're looking for something specific....for example, "ferrari enzo horsepower."

Vehicle Points

The moderators of the RP will be in charge of calculating your car's stats, but if you'd like, you can read this to find out how it's all done. Your car starts out with a point value for a few figures, based on stock specs. This is done like so:

Horsepower Points
0-49hp = 1pt
50-99hp = 2pts
100-149hp = 3pts
150-199hp = 4pts
200-249hp = 5pts
etc.

Torque Points
0-49lb.ft = 1pt
50-99lb.ft = 2pts
100-149lb.ft = 3pts
150-199lb.ft = 4pts
200-249lb.ft = 5pts
etc.

Weight Points
4000+lbs. = 1pt
3500-4000lbs. = 2pts
3000-3500lbs. = 3pts
2500-3000lbs. = 4pts
2000-2500lbs. = 5pts
1500-2000lbs. = 6pts
0-1500lbs. = 7pts

Your car will also be given a point value based on drivetrain.

Drivetrain Points
FWD = 1pt
RWD = 2pts
AWD = 3pts

Acceleration Points
Your car's acceleration points will be determined by the sum of all four figures. Horsepower+Torque+Weight+Drivetrain.

So, for example, a 276hp, 289lb.ft, 3395lbs. AWD BNR34 Skyline GT-R will have an acceleration value of 18pts, while a 122hp, 105-lb.ft, 2138lbs. RWD AE86 Corolla Sprinter Trueno will have an acceleration value of 13pts.

Top Speed Points
Your car's top speed points will simply be identical to your horsepower value, so that same BNR34 will have a top speed value of 6pts, and the Trueno will have a top speed value of 3pts.

Cornering Points
Your car's cornering points will be determined by the sum of your weight value and drivetrain value. So, the Skyline would have a cornering value of 6pts, and the Trueno would have 7pts.

Problems and Upgrading
Now, if you get a used car, like your first beater, you will lose one point from each category that has a problem. So, if your suspension is tired and worn, you will lose one cornering point. If your engine is strained and in need of a rebuild, you will lose 1 acceleration point and 1 top speed point.

However, don't feel bad, as you can restore and upgrade your car and add points to it. We will be opening up a tuning shop, with prices and point-values listed.

Motorcycle Points

If you would like to ride a motorcycle instead of driving a car, the points will be calculated like so:

Horsepower Points
0-49hp = 3pt
50-99hp = 6pts
100-149hp = 9pts
150-199hp = 12pts
200-249hp = 15pts
etc.

Torque Points
0-49lb.ft = 3pt
50-99lb.ft = 6pts
100-149lb.ft = 9pts
150-199lb.ft = 12pts
200-249lb.ft = 15pts
etc.

Weight Points
600+lbs. = 3pts
500-600lbs. = 6pts
400-500lbs. = 9pts
300-400lbs. = 12pts
0-300lbs. = 15pts

Acceleration Points
Your bike's acceleration points will be determined by the sum of all three figures. Horsepower+Torque+Weight.

So, for example, a 114hp, 71lb.ft, 490lbs. Aprilia RSV Mille will have an acceleration value of 24pts, while a 90hp, 72lb.ft, 565lbs. BMW R1100S will have an acceleration value of 18pts.

Top Speed Points
Your bike's top speed points will simply be identical to your horsepower value, so that same RSV Mille will have a top speed value of 9pts, and the R1100S will have a top speed value of 6pts.

Cornering Points
Your bike's cornering points will simply be identical to your weight value, so the RSV Mille would have a cornering value of 9pts, and the R1100S would have 6pts.

Problems and Upgrading
Now, if you get a used bike, you will lose three points from each category that has a problem. So, if your suspension is tired and worn, you will lose three cornering points. If your engine is strained and in need of a rebuild, you will lose 3 acceleration points and 3 top speed points.

However, don't feel bad, as you can restore and mildly upgrade your bike and add points to it.
