What do you think is the meaning of being punk? To me, punk means doing what you like without caring what other people think. Punk means being yourself, expressing your opinions, and going against authority. The against authority part is especially true when said authority is restricting the rights of other people. Of course, punk is essentially about doing what you feel you should do. There is much more, but I really can't do anything but rant for long periods of time. Maybe cause there's really no thread about this then the mods will sticky it, or at least get an idea for a sticky. So discuss.

actually punk is a style of music, that was a break away from the late sixties early seventies stadium rock that contained 20 minute, guitar and drum solos. It went back to the three minute song.

it progressd into wich was a style of rick and roll that was also fuled by the first wave of ska and skinhead reggea, the reggea played between sets at punk shows in england brought about the second wave of ska that we know and love as two tone.

hardcore was a much faster style of punk inspired by Oi!. usually played by outcasted suberbanites or innercity youth looking for a newer agressive sound to refelct the way the decay of American , well, life had turned theirs to s**t. All youths and musical culture movemnts of the 20th century had somehting to with rebellion against the views of a previous more conservitive generation.

some inspier hate
other hope
some speak out against political injustice
some parental
some totalitarian authority
some discuss sex and the troubles of growing
some songs are about drugs of choice
others about the choice not to do drugs

you're trying to define a music and culteral movement by the few bands you listen too

punk is technically a socity

some are hardcore
some are into what is called 77
some are into Oi!
it also branches out
you can;t really define a person by teh style of music they listen to

i'm an a*****e who loves to offend and drink and smoke, but i love youth of today and gorilla biscutis. What you;re actually asking is a stright up openended queastion with about a million answers. my advice stop trying to define punk as an image and start listening to it. Become your own person, stop living by some kind of mysterious code you'll neve ******** figure out.

punk isn't what you want it to be, punk is a style of music.
A bands belifes and ideals have nothing to do with the genra of music they happent o fall under.

Punk is energy. Progressive energy.

everyone and their PBR, sure it's good an all. but a few mickey's will do the trick just as well.
