This probably isn't going to be a very in depth discussion, but I was just wonderinig,
Is there any certain age in which the "awakening" occurs?
I'm curious in what happens during the "awakening" also, does it happen during a person's dreams or does their memories of past life/lives just hit them all at once?

Awakening most generally occurs between 13 and 18. That is by no means a definite rule. Awakening can occur at any time.
Most often dreams are associated with it. I never got anything I perceived as past-life memories with my vampiric awakening but I'm sure it's not uncommon at all.

I don't know if there's any specific age, but I do have to agree with Jonathan here, since almost all awakenings I've heard about take place during the adolescent years. This could be because it is usually a time of soul-searching for an individual, making it easier for that part of yourself to be revealed. However, this is just one of my random theories, and could be totally false.

To add to your theory: I think the "awakening" is more plausible to happen during the adolescent years because teenagers start to have more emotions, more jumps in those emotions, mood swings, and many gain more stressful lives. These new conditions make the "awaking" easier to happen because the mind is already having to accept new changes, it's not hard to believe there's some connection.

Most studies have found that it occurs during puberty, but it isn't just set to that time period of life and can happen at anytime.

Awkening can occure whenever... it can be triggered of cource. It can be enduced. It may occure naturally. I consider awakening most specifically to be either a breaking of binds or a meshing of perception between past and current selves depending.
Such a meshing can be caused by breaking binds...
It can come sporadically or all at once. I don't believe age matters... alot of times I think it is based on situations. I think its more likely to happen in younger individuals due to the lack of habituation and well the fitting aspect and fitting with society is key. If a person accept the current mode they'll be less likely to be open to outside modes.

I was exhibiting therianthropic traits when I was in kindergarten...I think the realization came together for me no later than age 8 or 9. I definitely know the first entry in the diary I started when I was 10 years old blatantly mentions it.

I think, trying to count back in the years of middle and high school...
From 13 to 15 was my first awakening... somewhere in there I went "oh... I believe I'm a dragon...!! gonk " 19 was my "second" awakening, occurring in high school.
I think before I was 13 though was when I had my one dream of being a dragon... so...
I don't know how to look at that to be honest. To me it's like time really doesn't... seem so "fixed" and to travel at a steady pace or something as I perceive it. sweatdrop
