Hey, it's been a while since we had a new topic in the guild.
I just thought I'd pose the question: Do your characters have theme songs? I know mine do, whole lists of them.
So, if the mood strikes you, share the titles of some of your characters' theme songs, and discuss.

Me next! That is, if I can find my list of songs sometime in the next decade...
Here we go.
Vitae: Vincent (Starry, Starry Night), Josh Groban Canto Alla Vita, Josh Groban Puirt a Beul, Sileas To the Top, Bleach (the band, not the anime) Without Condition, Ginny Owens Go Home, Girl!, Gaelic Storm Beautiful Disaster, Kelly Clarkson
The first three all have something to do with his name or original character development (Canto gave me his first name and the group Sileas gave me his last name). The last song is a clinging remnant from his relationship with Nor.
Nathan: Bring on the Men, from Jekyll & Hyde I Am What I Am, from La Cage aux Folles The Colors of My Life, from Barnum The Storm, Blackmore's Night Writing on the Wall, Blackmore's Night Alone and Above, InPulse I Wish I had an Angel, Nightwish The Creation of Man from The Scarlet Pimpernel Born to be a Bachelor, Gaelic Storm The Rhodora, Ralph Waldo Emerson (I don't remember who set it to music) The Boy Who Picked up His Feet to Fly, Joshua Shank Dire Ton, (It's a song in French, so I might not even have the title correct.) Smile! No One Cares How You Feel, The Gothic Archies
The Storm is considered one of his theme songs because I once wrote a challenge scene of Nathan belly-dancing to that song. xd Dire Ton is a song about a narcissistic rose or somesuch that the Chamber Choir sang a few years ago at my school. It breaks my heart every time I hear it, and makes a fitting song for the ending of my story. And I don't have Marching Inland listed as a theme song, even though the final verse sounds exactly like Nathan's singing it. ninja I should put that song on putfile for you all to hear sometime.
Yinda: You've Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two, from Oliver! The Cadgwith Anthem, Bounding Main If You Were Mine, Fernando Ortega Sort a Couple a' Bob, Gaelic Storm Pay Me, You Owe Me, Bounding Main
Yinda's songs are mostly about thieves and thieving, or involve money. 3nodding If You Were Mine sounds more like something her uncle Iven would have sung while trying to find her when she was a child.
I used to have theme songs for the main character of my old story, but I don't feel like posting them because Raven is very much dead. xp

erikakaiser Janus' theme would either be something along the lines of a song by The Elders -- Keepin' the Faith, Someday Soon -- or, like, the Sinatra song My Way. My Way fits Janus to a T. rofl

I haven't heard of any of Vitae's themesongs. ;.; It's times like this I wish I still had Limewire. And for Nathan, don't forget that song that's set to Raph's weapon demonstration. xp

Sometimes I think a song fits certian characters well, but I can't think of any theme songs for my characters at the moment... I had a list once, though.

One of my characters' theme songs would be probably be "From a Distance," by Bette Midler.
Nathan strikes me as a "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" (Meatloaf) type of guy. If you don't know it, look up the lyrics or listen to it NOW. It's the song on my MySpace. xd

Ho dear, time to TRY and find one of my old lists... or just remember as many as I can. @_@
Seishak Rydal: The Eucharist by Flesh Field, Master (Hard Mix) by Razed in Black, Puritania by Dimmu Borgir, God of This World by Seraphim Shock
Lyshev Kirrith: Only by Ra and Papercut by Linkin Park
Kail Rydal: Waiting to Leave by The Cruxshadows, Gutter Glitter by Switchblade Symphony, Prostitute by Neurotic Fish
Kirsla Rydal: Pretty Toy by Velvet Acid Christ and The Bondage Song by London After Midnight
Sar Kashida: Last Beat of Your Heart by Mission U.K., Raising Hell by Zeromancer
Kristopher Mason: Perfect Life by Seraphim Shock, Gun in Hand by Stutterfly
The whole damn Rydal family: Happily Ever After by Seraphim Shock
Seishak and Lyshev love song: Beloved by VNV Nation
Seishak and (?) both to Lyshev: I Regret (VNV Nation remix) by De/Vision
This is in no way a complete list, and is very much liable to have songs added at any time. 3nodding

Now, I have a question that I thought better suited in a separate post from my songs. razz
Yes, lyrics can play a major part in choosing songs for characters, but exactly how big a role does the actual music play in it? If you look at my list, I've chosen certain remixes over others and even the originals, just because it suits that particular character better.
For example, I'll point out my choice of using the Hard Mix of Master by RiB. It's much angrier and has a more raw feel to it than the original, accentuating Seishak's original concept of being the incarnation of my anger. Though his temper has toned down quite a bit (largely due to Lyshev's introduction), the remix is still a more accurate reflection of his personality than the original.

Personally, I think music is sometimes more important in that than lyrics. The lyrics to Wild Child remind me of Iris, even though it doesn't match her personality well. At all. In fact, that song would match Kasume better. But it reminds me of her, not him.
Any theme I pick for a character nowadays is picked because I listened to it and was reminded of the character, regardless sometimes of what the song is actually about.

When I first heard The Eucharist, it didn't hit me as a Seishak song until I actually listened to the lyrics... and I realized what it was really about. If you look the lyrics to this song up, please keep in mind that although they're not particularly explicit right up front, they're VERY explicit once you think about what's actually being said. And anyone with a mildly perverted mindset can see what it's about - definitely NOT religion!

Time to find music! Okay, I'll use VGmusicbecause they have tons of remixed midis. Okay, Peter's Theme song just happens to be the "lost track" from Breath of Fire. Jacob's Theme song. If you don't know what this is, erika will stabitty you. (( Frog's theme from ChronoTrigger)) Charlosi's Theme song. This should also be pretty familiar. It's the battle moosic from FFX. Peter's Theme music. This might not be that familiar. It's the boss music from FFX!:Chains of Promethia. It's rather appropriately titled "Turmoil," and I think it reflects his crazy mind rather well.
