~Main Overview~

The Underground is divided into 13 kingdoms the most powerful of which is the Labyrinth. All the other kingdoms border the Labyrinth in one form or another. Several centuries ago one of the rulers of these 13 kingdoms, the Tea Cup Queen Mizumi, led a campaign against the Labyrinth. The Underground was divided between those who took Jareth's side and those who allied themselves with the queen. After several gruesome battles, the alliances between some of the kingdoms siding with the queen faltered and they changed sides. After this shift in the tide, the queen and her supporters were defeated. Mizumi herself was banished to the wasteland of the Underground known as the Badlands and sealed away. The remaining 12 kingdoms drew up a truce between themselves and a relative, albeit wavery peace was obtained.

The Labyrinth

1. How to Travel the Labyrinth

As it stands, it is divided into two subforums titled: "Inner Underground" and "Outer Underground". ALL challengers must all start in the Outer Underground, namely in the Aboveground thread. Once Jareth or one of his servants takes you to the Labyrinth you will have the notorious 13 hours to try and complete your journey. Though you can pick any order in which you slip through the Labyrinth you MUST post in all 4 required threads before moving onto the Inner Underground. These are:

1) The Aboveground
2) The Labyrinth
3) The Fiery Forest
4) The Bog of Eternal Stench

Once in the Inner Underground you must post in:

1) Outskirts/Junkyard
2) Goblin City
3) The Castle

Out of all the threads, the castle is the only one which MUST be the very last you post in. Any exceptions are handled personally only by Jareth or Skyling, since they are the only ones with legitimate power to mess with the Labyrinth. If, however, you are helped by a player that is experianced with the Labyrinth, they may nudge you in the right direction otherwise challengers cannot skip threads.

2. Challenges and How They Are Handled

There are typically two types of challengers, those who wish themselves away and those who wished away others. Both must complete the Labyrinth within the allotted time to be considered victorious. For each of them the price and consequences of the journey are different.

Those who wished themselves away- If you WIN, the Goblin King will grant you one wish, within reason mind you, either to stay or to go back home. If you LOSE, Jareth has complete control over your fate then, you might be sent back home and with your memories of the Labyrinth wiped from your mind, or he might take pity on you and let you stay as his slave/servant.

Those who wished other people away- If you WIN, the Goblin King will return the person who was taken, and you have some leverage to bargain with him. Again keep it within reason, even when defeated and weakened it's not like Jareth's alone or defenseless. If you LOSE, Jareth keeps the one taken and sends you back to face the consequences. Being the generous monarch that he is, the Goblin King is open to exchanges and other types of negotiations. Keep in mind though he has power over you so you will just have to accept whatever he offers.
