It was as if he had Super Enviromentalist Senses that had gone off as he was among the first, if the not the very first, person down at the beach cleaning up. For those looking closely or those that knew him they could catch sight of him in the news report as he moved about his work. Masaya had his pants cuffed up above his knees, while his shirt, shoes, and socks were waiting out of the way on dry land. He was wading and cleaning things up with a net that he'd brought along with him, helpful for catching all of those smaller bits that floated amongst the waves.

Such a mess... he wondered what they would find to be the source of all of this, it hadn't been so bad the last time he was down here. Masaya wasn't sure why but when he picked up a bit of metal and looked it over he had this moment where he turned to look over the water, eyes sinking half shut as he starred at the glittering surface as if trying to look through it.

They seemed for a moment to freeze over... then the moment passed.

The boy shook his head and was back to sifting out the bits from the water. When his net was full he brought it out of the water to dump it into the growing pile that would be sorted out later for recycling.

(( For anyone that wants to see Masaya in the background on the news (or just wants to jump in) and help with clean up. ^_^ ))

Ume had been watching TV on the window displays at a store when the news report came on. Though she had felt for the plight of the animals (she knew what being homeless and hungry was like), but the thing that had really driven her to come here was the fact that some of that junk was simply glittering in the sunlight at her. Taunting her. Calling to her.

She couldn't resist, even if it was trash. So she'd caught the first bus across town to the water.

And now, here she was, pausing awkwardly at the edge of the beach, not sure where to start or who to talk to. She could see some people wading in the water with nets, and there were some others picking up the larger chunks off the beach. All of it was being dumped into one nearly irresistable pile in the center of the beach.

Ume found herself staring at with wide eyes, one hand fidling with her blonde hair, but managed to tear her gaze away so she could ask, "Hello! Is there anything I can do to help? You don't need someone to sort through that, do you?"

Masaya turned towards the voice asking if she could help and he made his way over to her, smiling, "Hello." He greeted, glad to see another person here to help with the clean up. If people kept showing up at this rate the beach would be back to its true and beautiful state in no time. His smile on seemed to grow at what seemed to be an offer, "Yes, actually we were going to sort it out into smaller piles to be recycled we just haven't go to that yet. With so much debrie floating around in the water we decided to start on that first but if you would like to start on the sorting that would be wonderful."

Things would go quicker if someone was over here working on this task as well as the cleaning, his attention turned to look towards those that were still fishing things up from the water before he turned back to the newcomer, "Since we have a few people already over there then I can help you out here."

Ume smiled brightly and gave him a cheerful thumbs up. "Great! Oh, my name is Ume, Ume Kondou," she added as introduction. She looked over at the pile.

"It'll be nice to have some company for this. A task is always more fun with someone to talk to. How will we do this?" she rambled a bit as she circled the junk. Various bits caught the light and glinted at her, and she couldn't wait to get them out and look at them.

"This is mostly metal, it looks like... was it a plane? Oh, I hope no one was hurt. If it was a plane, that means there'll be wires, and they should be separate. What else?" she continued her stream of consciousness, pausing to look over at the other teen with an inquiring smile.

"Its nice to meet you Miss Kondou, my name is Masaya Aoyoma." He said, then looked over the daunting task that was getting this all separated out in various piles, "Well for the moment we will go with metal bigs, plastic though there is only a small amount of that, paper, and glass." He said, "After that we will separate it out into more specific piles.

A plane? He glanced down at it. Ume was right, it did sort of look like that and to have such an impact to cause the water to rise like it did the thing that had hit the water would have to be big. Then on top of that having nobody telling them any details upon how the search was going... could it have actually been a plane? "We can hope that it was something other then that." He said after a moment, worried a little now for the passengers that could have been aboard.

"It's nice to meet you, too!" she said. Masaya Aoyoma. Ume tried to commit his name to memory, or she knew she'd be asking him a dozen times. Then she nodded at his instructions, and reached forward to begin the sorting.

"Definitely. Or, if it was a plane, that it didn't have any people on it. Like... some test flight went bad, or something, right?"

She pulled on a piece, and it came free from the pile, but it was tangled in a bunch of wires, and was blackened from some sort of fire. It wasn't at all attractive to Ume's klepto part of her brain, and so it got placed aside into the 'metal' pile.

Several other pieces of junk later, the piles were growing, but it didn't look like they'd even made a dent in the larger pile. But this time, when Ume turned back to it for another piece, there was one that looked as though it had been melted, then cooled into a globular, enlongated shape.

It was an interesting 'sculpture' and Ume immediately felt her fingers start to itch. She bit her lip, and picked it up, running her fingertips over it's rippled surface. A deep breath later, and she had dropped it about a foot away from the metal pile, hoping Masaya wouldn't notice.

A short while later, another sparkly bit that looked like it might have been buttons or something was added to it. She glanced over at Masaya to see if he was noticing. She hoped not... explaining would be awkward. She'd probably be asked to leave. And she really did want to help.

Masaya had noticed her pile but really thought nothing of it, there was no doubt a reason for why she was making that one and while there was a moment of curiousity he figured that the mess they were working on cleaning up was far more important. He could ask her later when the beach was back in better shape. He gave a smile as he tossed a couple of more things from the big pile into the glass pile, mostly glass bottles, "Its a shame." He murmured as he realized that while there were bits of metal and stuff from... whatever had hit the bay more or it was trash. Things that the humans... ahh... that they had throw into the water or throw out and on the beach.

It was a mess and it hurt to see the damage, it only got him to sorting faster as if he could make all the difference with his two hands. While he couldn't change the world he could do what he could in hopes of helping it to survive that much longer. He didn't want to live in a dark, dirty and desolate world again.

Masaya paused in his cleaning, lifting a hand to rub the back of it against his eyes. There were times his mixed memories, those that were his as Masaya and those he retained from before when he was Deep Blue were a bit of a pain. Those days were over and done with those, he was just Masaya now instead of a Messiah. He had worked that had to be done without worrying over the passed. The aliens had gone home after all and all the power he'd once had was lost to him. He would do what he could even if that were just sorting through the recyclables and cleaning up the beach.

His eyes caught site of something sitting on the sand and he walked over to it reaching down to pick up a pretty, pink sea shell. He looked it over, brushed off the sand then gave a smile as he pocketed it. Ichigo would love it, it was just her color.

Ume noticed Masaya's glance over her pile, but smiled when he didn't say anything. After that, she relaxed more, and she began to ramble on about the weather and the things she found, and whether or not they ought to move the piles a bit further apart...

"They really are kind of close to each other, but I think they are okay. What do you think?" she asked.

Soon after, she was onto a different topic, talking about who she was and asking Masaya questions, instead of talking about what they were doing. She kept her hands busy, though in more ways than one.

"I just moved here a little while ago. I travel a lot, but I think I'm going to stay here and try to enroll in a school. It would be nice to find a school I can stay in for a while, but I have trou- oh, look!" she exclaimed, and pulled out a piece of metal that was burned a bit, but seemed to have some sort of writing on the side.

"Was it the plane's company? Or maybe a number telling which plane it was? I can't really read it..." she turned it this way and that, trying to make out the words past the burns. They may not have been words at all, but whatever they were, she had been distracted enough to completely forget what it was she had been talking about.
