This belongs in the spinoffs subforum. Im going to move it there.

And Genesis is pretty much a prototype version of what Sephiroth became, just minus the Jenova cells.

The one winged-ness is pretty cool.

It says that they mention the "S" in the game (haven't played) Which I'm guessing is Sephiroth, so there has to be a huge connection between them.

Shu is right, im guessing, though.

(If anyone has beaten the game, could you break down the whole story for me please? I don't have any money to buy it right now, and I wanna know the story gonk *is anxious* It will be most generous, and maybe a reward if it's really explainitive!)

S is the soldier program.
G is the Genesis program.
Gillian was a carrier of Jenova cells, which had mutated and adapted to her DNA, essentially being the source of the entitled "G Cells"
Her DNA was injected into the unborn fetus of the Rhapsodos family, but the offspring, Genesis, turned out being a normal child with signs of degradation.

Know that we know who he is would any of you like to tackle what he was after? Playing through the game I felt a little lost as to what his true motives where. What did he really want. What about his actions allowed him to reach his goal? Did he achieve what he was after? Was he thwarted?

Genesis wanted everyone to degenerate, just like him. He wanted to be a famous SOLDIER....even better than Sephiroth.

Those are only MY speculations though.

Genesis was obsessed with the epic poem LOVELESS. His Goal was to discover what the gift of the goddess was and thus discover the secret of the missing final act of the poem. He determine that the gift of the goddess was the banora white "Dumb apples" but also more or less said that he may not be right.
::SPOILER::
here is a relative idea of part of the conversation between zack and genesis before the final battle.

genesis: the gift of the goddess... a heavenly boon found only in Banora.
zack: But I thought the cells were the gift!
genesis: there are... various interpretations....

oh and the jenova project. preoject G refers to Angeal's mother Gillian Hewly, who was inject with jenova cells to test two theories on creating an "Ancient". the first was to transplant the cells from Gillian to an unborn fetus in hopes of enhancing the child's abilities, which brought the birth of Genesis Rhapsodus. The second theory was to have Gillian (who was injected with jenova cells) have a naturally born child in hopes of passing on the abilities of the cells to hte child, which brought Angeal Hewly into the picture.

Jenova project S was the project that gave birth to Sephiroth. It involved inject jenova cells directly into the unborn fetus (whereas with project G they were injected into the mother first then to an unborn fetus) which apparently worked as Sephiroth was the only one to never degrade. The process that incoming Soldier members go through ins based on the research done in project S, only instead of an unborn child, they inject the cells into a fully grown Adult.

sorry for the rant, hope that cleared up most of your questions about genesis and the Jenova Project

edit: oh and for the record. Crisis Core was pretty much a half-baked made to explain who the hell that random guy is that shows up when you collect all three G- Reports in Dirge of Cerberus. In Crisis Core, you may play as Zack, but the real main character of the game is Genesis Rhapsodus

Xepher, you are right on all of that except for the real main character being Genisis. That's just like saying the main character of FFVII is Sephiroth. Zack IS the main character, and it was made to fill in all the holes made by the other final fantasy VII game's storylines, like who Zack was, the legacy of the Buster Sword, the truth behind Sephiroth's disappearance and his hatred of mankind, and all those other unanswered questions. Also, you missed Genisis's real objective, which was to stop the degradation and become a human instead of what the Jenova cells had made him.
