Barton is a bustling, somewhat industrious city. It has a lot of stores and homes and is a nice place to live. There is a small amount of crime, but the Barton Police patrol regularly to keep the city safe. Aside from several fistfights in bars, and of course, the colloseum matches, it is a very peaceful and calm place. Fights in the streets are not tolerated by the Barton Police.
Important Places:
Colloseum- The colloseum is where duels are held. If you have a problem with someone from another clan, or simply want to test your skills against a fellow fighter, you can go here to legally duel someone or just watch a battle. Guild area- There are several guilds in Barton. The archery, swordsman, and mason guilds are the largest. However, several smaller ones are in the city, too. Bars and stores- Several bars and many stores can be found around Barton. Many people go here to shop for goos or just have a drink. Barton Square- A large square with a fountain in it is located in the center of Barton and is a popular area to hang out in. Most people in Barton can be found here in their free time.

Al'erka was going shopping. The competitions hadn't started yet, and she was looking to have some fun and perhaps meet some members of the other Clans. She tied her red-streaked ebony hair out of her face and glanced around with large, clear blue eyes at the guild halls and shops. SHe was specifically looking for a new bow, so she made her first stop at the Archery Guild. The people seemed so pleasant, here. Not like the Gambino Slums, where she had grown up. Everything seemed sparkling and beautiful, especially around the fountain, with people laughing and chattering away.
When she finally found the Archery Guild Hall, she managed to get a good price on what she thought was an exceptional bow. She even managed to rent herself some time on the practice field with her new beauty. When she walked out of the Hall woth her new bow and new set of arrows, the day seemed to be going just perfectly, for her.
((Yes, this was supposed to sound unfinished. I'm hinting at people to come in and RP!))

The city was as animated as it has been this season, but even more so today as the sun soared along the sky accompanied by thick white clouds. The smoke which rose from the chimeny's and stack easily dissipated into the clearing. The birds perched themselves along the edges of the city's buildings, watching all the busy bodies along the city streets. Though the streets were a bit empty as usual.
The old men to children gathered at the fringes of the town with their homemade toys made from layers of paper, and bent pieces of weightless sticks. Their heads, and eyes set to look up at the sky. The heavens were fillwed rainbow coloured fishes, flat wide animals, rigid birds, and various simple to intricately designed geometric kites. Some handled their kites well manuevring them across the sky as if the kites were born from the heavens itself, and some just anchored itself to the flowing breeze, man made ornaments in the sky.
A large black goldfish shaped kite with wings separated itself from the rest it rose high above all others, swimming by itself in its on wind stream. Its cords were thicker than most, and were made of several entwined cotton cords. They were attached at different edges of the kite which allowed the kite flyer to manuever it in the sky at nearly any direction. They string were dyed red to separate it from the rest as well, so it could be traced from the flying fish to the giant who was flying it.
Laying down in the field of grass was the silent sentinel called Paddy, with the kite's strings wrapped tightly around its wrist. The giant lazily laid down along with the rest of the populace, enjoying the nice the day with their kites. His eyes seemed to be as light as the coarse white hair on his head with little speckles of black. It was also filled with various colours as it watched the clouds hover above him. His mighty arms were bent, and placed right behind his head as a cushion. His tree trunk legs were bent up as well with his knees pointing up to the sky, and was easily visible in the field where the grass grew a couple of feet up. Like usual, it seemed that all he was wearing today was his feet wraps, and his floral white and red swimming trunks. He didn't bother to worry about to wear. He didn't really want to worry about anything. It's been a while since he had done this. This was a nice way to spend the day.

Lilith Inoue glanced up at the sky from her seat at one of Barton's most expensive cafes. Of course, it was nothing compared to the stuff in Gambino, but she wasn't there right now, was she? Dozens of kites soared in the sky, and she remembered - wistfully - those days she had spent with her nanny doing the same exact thing. Watched the kites from afar, too aloof, and perhaps afraid, to join them.
The wind picked up a bit, tossing her long silver hair this way and that as she was uncharacteristically lost in a day dream involving nothing but sky, ocean, and a few puffy clouds. Her single bag - the product of an entire half a day's worth of shopping - rested at her feet, feeling rather lonely. Usually, there were at least two other bags to keep it company, but not today.
The bag was empty as well, it's contents draped around the archer's neck, blowing with the breeze. Absently, she smoothed her long hair back, still lost in that dream. Her childhood had been short lived, and she had never had the chance to merely enjoy such mundane activities like flying a kite. She had been in the spot light, the center of attention at parties and school alike. To fly a kite was to be childish and immature, something that could cost her that attention she had worked so hard for. And look where that got her.
She was twenty-five years of age, wearing top designer clothes of the latest fashion (right now, it was a mid-length checkered skirt with a crimson sleeveless that showed off her arms nicely) sipping a latte at the near deserted cafe. What friends she had usually ended up backstabbing her, or being backstabbed by her. Of course, there were a few who'd managed to survive all those years...
But she still secretly longed to fly a kite in the gentle breeze and watch it just flow with the wind. No.. such a thing was unthinkable. What would society think if they saw her, leader of the sky clan flying kites like a child? Weak, they'd say.
Then again... nobody was around. Another bag joined the empty one under the table, it's contents a secret to the world.
Screw the world.
With that thought in mind, the silver-headed lady got up, letting a rare, genuine smile adorn her face as she began to walk in the direction of the big fish kite she had seen. Perhaps Paddy would teach her how to fly.

((OOC: MINMIN, when you read this...do what you were going to do. I'm gonna...have some...target practice. twisted ))
DeMarkcus walked swiftly down the street, dodging all the running child with their silly games. He was slowing entering from the dark, sun-ridden slums of Barton, to its bright, rich community. All the colors. The happiness. All the things he had been deprived of as a child. No. This is not the time to dwell on the past... Then another thought entered his mind. I should just Lich the place. Destroy this area. These people..and their happiness..no, they're not worth my time and my energy. Another day...
DeMarkcus continued on down through Barton, searching for any members of the other Clans, until he came to a relatively open area. A cafe. Hills. More children and their laughter...what's this! Jackpot! The Leader of the Sky Clan!
DeMarkcus decided to remain hidden in the shadows. And to make sure they could not get him, he cast Shadow upon himself. Time for some target practice... he thought to himself. Energy surged through DeMarkcus's hand. He wound up, like a pitcher on a mound, and..."Unholy.." he muttered under his breath.
Down, down, down, plumetted first the Heavenly Kites. Next went the Rainbows. Then the rest of the odd ones...peace finally attained. Finally, some quiet...now I can simply relax here in the Shad-what? A fish...still flying? I must have missed one.. DeMarkcus sent a final barage of Unholys.
((BWWWWAAAHAHAH! I ARE THE ONE WHO TAKES TEH LAUGHTER! xd ))

"-what?" After her shopping excursion, Al'e had been lying on her back in the grass, watching all of the beautiful kites, but then soething caought her eye: alsmall ball of-- something-- that went through all of the kite strings. She sat up. "A bird? Not likely, unless someonne's lobbing birds around all of the sudden." She slowly got to her feet and tried to look nonchalant. Her guess was that it was some boys who were throwing sharp rocks that needed some stern words. She followed what she remembered as the path of the "things" that had broken the kite strings and stopped at the entrance to a dark alleyway.
At this point, she had two reasons to stop right there and turn back. One was that there were so many convernient dark alleyways in this area and her memory of the line of fire was bad enough that she could wander around for hours and still not find the culprit. The second reason was that she was getting a very peculiar and unsettling feeling from one of those dark alleys. She decided to calmly pretend to examine the mouth of one of the alleys and calmly stroll away, though with that feelig at her back, she wanted to walk a little faster than her leisurely façade permitted.

Machina Aquarius was meditating, his mind open to the world around him. He often did this, as it passed the time quite well. "In hindsight," he thought, however, "I shouldn't have tried in a place as busy as Barton Square." He was sitting cross legged against a building, and though people didn't bump into him, because he wasn't blocking anything, the noise of people talking- "Wait, something's wrong. Where's all the talking?" He opened his eyes. As he did, he saw black orbs hitting the kites that had been flying in the air. "Death magic." he thought. "I know it's not Sky, The color of the projectiles rules out Life, and I don't think Earth can do that either..." He stood up. From that new perspective, he saw that one kite hadn't been hit. He ran over to see if he could help.

Decira leaned back on a smooth bench, legs crossed daintily in front of her. She was enjoying the beautiful day, soaking in the warm sunlight and watching with half closed eyes the kites in the sky waver back and forth. Hearing light crashes and exclamations of anger and disappointment, Decira opened her eyes and leaned forward. The pretty little kites were getting shot out of the sky. Some plummeted to the ground, while others floated away on the wind high in the air.
"Oooh," Decira groaned. "Well, that's unfortunate. They were rather nice." Tossing her long blonde hair behind her, Decira stood and stretched her arms. Smoothing out her coat, she began to make her way across the field of thick grass towards Paddy, hoping he could tell her why they fell.

Selikia looked out the window from the dark corner of a bar she had settled in. Bah, what an annoyingly cheerfull place, she thought. Too many happy people, and too many bright colors. It lacked something that she was used to having around her, but she couldn't quite place it. She was becoming agitated, having to stop herself on several occations from killing the annoyingly helpfull bartender. This, like it or not, was a town she needed to spend some time in.
"So, you new here?" Selikia tried to ignore the bartender, her ussual deterents had done little to discourage him. "Yeah, its a nice day out," continued the bartender. "You should go on out there, plenty to do, you should enjoy it, while you're still young and able." Selikia narrowed her eyes, and turned slowly towards the bartender. "I take no pleasure in such things as are done on days such as these. I much prefer solitude and silence." She carefully adjusted her visable katana. The bartender just nodded, cleaning glasses with a wet cloth. "I know what you mean. I know some people like that. In fact..." Selikia turned away as he rambled on about friends and aquaintences. What was wrong with this man? Had he no... no... no fear... That was it! Fear! This town lacked fear, it was too safe, to sheltered, particularly on such as day as this. She frowned. She could expect the people to be trusting and have little experience with danger, but the police force must be top notch to maintain such and environment. She would have to keep that in mind, however she hadn't planed on doing anything of note until after contacting the Death Clan. As if qued by her thoughts, a barrage of dark energy assulted the kites that had been soaring through the sky moments earlier. Well all right then, that makes things easier for me. Who ever did that has power, but little discretion. An interesting combination, perhaps I will be able to use that to mask my own activities. She smiled, and left the bar to seek the Death Clan.

As DeMarckus left, Leena respectfully bowed her head and sheathed her dagger. Staying in the shadows, she made her way past the crowds of people in the market. Past the little ones, the street urchins running around incessantly chasing each other.
She was making her way towards the outer limits of Barton. As she was nearing the end of cobblestone roads, she came out of the shadows, and tossed her midnight blue hair. Her cloak billowing behind her, she exited the grounds of Barton.

The leader of Sky arrived as the last of the kites went down, leaving Paddy's as the sole kit in the sky. This, for some reason, irked her. Not that she was a people person, but the sky was HER realm. And one of the children who lost a kite to the magical orbs wouldn't stop crying, and it was starting to make her head hurt. Who the bloody hell was trying to meddle with the kites? Well, not trying to meddle, but had meddled. Had disrupted her plans on having the nicest and best looking kite in the sky.
Her good mood gone, the Lilith stormed over to the group of Sky members near the lone kite (on the ground, of course), careful to keep the contents of her bag hidden from public view. Arriving, she gave a nod to Decira, Machina and Paddy, hiding her anger behind a cool expressionless mask.
"Lovely weather we're having, don't you think? Fancy meeting you all here." her voice was calm and level, preferring to let her eyes convey the rising annoyance of the whole situation. She set her bags down on the grassy knoll, in case she had to do magic. Not that she had much to set down. It was Barton, after all. If it had been Gambino, or perhaps Durem... well, there would be someone with her to carry the bags. But Barton had only yielded one bag, so she felt no real need to call up someone for that. Besides, it was nice to get away once in a while.

Xander was trying to lead his father through the busy streets- and failing miserably. The man, though only forty-seven, had the face of a sixty-year-old war veteran. Pockmarked and wrinkled from years of poor hygeine and substance abuse, little more could be expected. The patron of what remained of the Indelsson family, he looked the part of a bum: shaggy gray hair, a slight beard, filthy clothes that had probably been picked off the street. The sling which held his right arm to his body had once been white, but was now a calico of mold green, dirt brown and sweat yellow. But now, Xander hoped, all this could change.
His plan was to take his father to the Life Clan headquarter, use the holistic facilities and healing auras of its occupants to return the man to some semblance of sanity, to recover the hole that had been left in his heart- both literally and figuratively- once and for all, after seven long years.
Not only had Xander finally fulfill his dreams of magic and duty, but now he would finally regain what he had lost that fateful night so long ago: a family.

Now the fun begins... DeMarkcus thought in his head. Maybe I can actually have the pleasure of killing someone this time... A twisted, demented evil grin appeared on DeMarkcus's face. Hell on Earth... Believe it or not, all the Unholys had taken a bit of energy to preform...but, he could still pull this off, if only for a half of a minute.
DeMarkcus readied himself, the energy spining rapidly inside him. Time to have some fun... "Lich!" DeMarkcus yelled. Slowly, from around his body, darkness came, with all of its fury! Unholy energy filled up around him, all the way to the area in which the kite flyers were. Inside the houses, the bars, the stores. All in Liches path would suffer, and, if it continued too long on the mortals..they would die. Bliss...

Machina Aquarius stopped as a hemisphere of darkness erupted from near the kite-flyers. When the hemisphere stopped expanding, Machina Aquarius, cautiously, touched it. He recoiled in shock as his entire arm burned with unholy energy. "Damn." he thought. "This must be Lich! The rest of Sky was in there flying kites, as far as I know. Are they all... dead? Damn it, this spell can't last forever, when the guy who did this is drained, I'm going to step in. No use to go in until then and get killed, I'll be no help until then."

Selikia raised an eyebrow as she sighted the expanding area of darkness. Whoever she was approaching apparently had no qualms about expending energy. She could only guess that someone had taken offence at the destruction of the kites, and had confronted the attacker. Otherwise, someone was just being inefficient. Using something so powerfull just to kill some normal people would leave the user drained, and alert everyone in the area to the users presence and that fact that the user had allready expended a fair amount of power. As far as Selikia was concerned, magic was for tough situations, while killing people was accomplished with a sharp edge. She shruged, everyone had their own methods, perhaps this person knew more of magic than she did, which wouldn't be to difficult. She reached the edge of the darkness, and paused, hesitating for a moment before deciding that she could probably survive in the darkness the spell created without too much harm, even if the caster didn't think of her as an ally... yet. She smiled, slipping into the darkness, and adding her own power to her concealment, and approached the center of the darkness, seeking the caster.
