~*HellCatKiska13's Guide*~

Alright guys! Please read this ^__^

------------
Now I know some of us have brainfarts and that's okay. And some posts may be shorter than others, but that's alright too.

Tip 1:
Express how your character feels, phyiscally and mentally-

Show how your character feels and explain it. If they just got out of a fight explain how much they hurt from being wounded. Or if someone awful happened to them mentally, do a little flashback and say how they are feeling now, if they are depressed or if they are sad, angry or vengeful.

Tip 2:
Describe what they are wearing or how they look (basically for first post)-

Describe what your character looks like or what they are wearing. If they have scars or tattoo's explain them and how they got them. If they are pale or tan, if they have long hair or short hair. If they have high cheekbones or are skinny. If they are beautiful or average, if they are strong or average. Those kinds of things.

Tip 3:
Don't do so many actions in one post

If you do too many actions in one post you wont have anything to write about in the next few posts (plus it confuses people and they don't know where to put their character if they are interacting with you.) So keep it to a minimum of three actions, one big action and two little actions (such as throwing kunai, etc)

Tip 4:
Avoid Godmoding

Sorry I had to put this on here since I cannot stress it enough. Stray away from godmoding which here are a few examples:

-Taking over someones character (ex. You are Kakashi and you take over a madeup to make them do what you want)

-Doing automatic hits (ex. Lets say you are in a fight "She took her kunai and stabbed it threw his stomach. Taking it out he fell to the ground")

-Which leads me to this, no automatic kills unless said so by the person who roleplays it. YOU CANNOT KILL MAIN CHARACTERS!

Tip 5
Do not act like a n00b:

Okay this is the one thing that ticks most people off. Please do not act like a n00b. Okay one time there was this girl in my one InuYasha RP who was the most annoying thing..EVER.Here's an example of what to stay AWAY from.(taken from the InuYasha roleplay.) (here's what was happening,InuYasha was fighting Sesshomaru, right in the middle of the battle)
"She took InuYasha and placed a kiss on his lips as Sango watched"
Which leads me too........

Tip 6
Read posts!

Please read the posts as people post them so you know where your character is supposed to be and you aren't falling behind. This is another great way to make your posts longer so you know where you are supposed to be.

Tip 1
OOC Mode

People tend to have problems here.... For instance, before I was really litterate, I lost a friend because she thought I was OOC when I was in character.... Because I never used anything but a single line to show I was OOC, she thought I was getting pissed at her, when I had smiply switched to my other character and my character was mad at hers....

Tip 2
Punctuation

Punctuation is key! If you neglect it, you can make a very interesting post, into a train wreck.... It changes emotions, shows fear stress.... Take this example.

Naruto was ticked off about Orochimaru takeing over Sasukes body. He had spent hours screaming at nothing. Then he felt hopless. He gave up.

Now let's try that with some punctuation....

Naruto was ticked off! Orochimaru had taken over Sasukes body! Naruto had spent hours, just screaming at nothing, confused about all of this. Though, after time, he began to feel hopeless, and he slowly gave up hope....

If you use the punctuation, you get your point across better, and the words you use can have more fluidity....

Tip 3
Multiple Characters

Haveing multiple characters is not only really complicated personality wise, but if you do not have anything but a name somewhere in the paragraph to signify which you are, it get's hard to keep up with you, or others. One way, which is not to encouraged, is haveing a few lines between each character.... Another way, that is widely used, and makes alot more sense, is the color scheme.... Useing blue for one character, red for another, and green for yet another, does make it easier to understand which is which. Though, haveing multiple characters is not for everyone, and being litterate is a must, as well as being extremely imaginative.

Aura-dono's Guide

You don't have to read mine. But basically, I'm going to tell you how I roleplay, type out my posts and what I do before I submit them. By the way, a lot of my stuff may be on HellCatKiska/Marakathos's Guide, so don't forget to read hers, okay? :]

Note: I'm not forcing you to do what I do, but I garuntee if you follow some of these tips, it will help you in the longrun.

~~~
First and foremost... ALWAYS READ POSTS THAT TELL YOU TO READ THEM IN ROLEPLAYS!!
I know you don't like it if you make a roleplay and Person A doesn't follow your set rules. It depends on some rules, but most rules are important and you SHOULD follow them so you don't get kicked out or anyone mad at you.
POSTING
Helpful Hint #1: type your post in MSWord
This is vital. You know how Gaia has its bad days and eats your posts. I don't think anyone likes that. If you don't have MSWord (such as me when I'm on a certain computer), use your resources! There is always WordPad or NotePad in Start > All Programs > Assecories if you have Windows XP. Or an alternative-- type your post on Gaia, copy&paste it in one of those programs (sav if you want), then submit and see if it dies on you. It doesn't hurt to try! (And if you're white and nerdy enough, you can always write it down on a peice of paper.)
Helpful Hint #2: edit your post before you submit it
Edit your post for spelling errors, incorrect punctuation and/or grammar, and anything that doesn't make sense. And when you go over it, you can even change some of the words! If you followed the hint above and typed your post on MSWord, you can see all of your grammical and spelling errors. Sometimes, you use the wrong variation of a word in the wrong context, and Word doesn't catch that. So make sure you go over your post.
Tip for Word Editing
Want to make your words more exotic or interesting than simple "hit" or "run" or etc.?
http://thesaurus.reference.com/ -- Although, when using this, make sure you have the right meaning for the word. (i.e. "He hit him." Hit as in strike, not success or accomplish.)
Helpful Hint #3: make your posts look clean and organized
Sometimes if you play more than one character, you know you should use different colors (i.e. Person B=orange, Person C=green). Also remember that smaller text looks cleaner (9-11) than default (size 12). Feel free to bold out the dialouge, or something to separate it. It makes it seem organized! BBCode is your friend. :]
And when all is said and done, post that block of text!
~~~

OTHER: What does a word mean? What posts do I read?

What does [insert word here] mean? Go to http://dictionary.reference.com/ (I hope you know this already.)

If you are reading this, PLEASE GO BACK AND READ STICKIES!
On the main page, there are a few topics that you really should read. I've seen a few people who have spelling and grammar that suck a** (not saying anyone)! There was someone who frankly didn't read the front page or the Plot, either. It really made me mad. So, please, just go back and skim through the stickies. It helps prevent you from being banned.
