I think Starwars copied som things fom LOTR, i mean, in "Attack of the Clones" Count Dooku (played by Christpher Lee) says "Join me... Obe-Wan" and u no in The Fellowship Saruman (also played by C. Lee) says "Join me.... Gandalf". And in Revenge of the Sith, when Padme discovers Anakin has gone to the dark side, says "Dont go where i cant follow!" and that is soooo Sam after Frodo got bitten by Shelob and he thinks Frodo is dead. really. I like starwars, but LOTR is better.

Actually, Avacoe, you're wrong on your quotings.
I JUST returned from seeing Episode III. Padme says, "I'll never stop loving you, but you are going down a path I can't follow." which is not the same as Sam's "Don't go where I can't follow."
As for Dooku and Saruman... Dooku's a Sith... Sith ALWAYS want the Jedi to Join them. You must remember that Darth Vader, in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, said to Luke, "Join me and I will complete your trainning." It's a common Sith thing to say.
And the reason Christopher Lee was in both, is because he is one of the best Villain Actors of all time. Plus, George Lucas had worked with Peter Cushing (who played Grand Moff Tarkin in "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope") and Cushing and Lee had been in many films together (including the movie, "Scream And Scream Again", which I do own, and also stars the incredible Vincent Price). Thus, it seems like a natural choice for Lucas to cast Lee.
So sorry Avacoe, Star Wars wasn't stealing stuff from "The Lord of the Rings."
Of course, my opinion is quite biased, seeing how the original SW trilogy ties for my favorite movie of all time with the LOTR trilogy. The new Trilogy however, comes in after the POTC trilogy (which only has 1 movies so far, but they're filming 2 and 3). I adore Star Wars. I always have and I always will. I've currently read 50 of the novels to date. However, I love The Lord of the Rings as well. I always will. Both of these trilogies are dear to my heart.
May the Force be with you... and May the Valar protect you and guide you on your path.

I like them both, but I've been a Star Wars fan longer and it has quite a bit more literature and that, to me, has greater appeal.

fledge I like them both, but I've been a Star Wars fan longer and it has quite a bit more literature and that, to me, has greater appeal. While it does have more books than Tolkien's LOTR, Tolkien has a bunch of books as well. There's the 12 histories of Middle-earth, but a few others and the Silmarillion and of course The Hobbit and all three of the LOTR trilogy. Not to mention a few tiny books having to do with languages and poems and the like. But I'm a SW reader too. I've got all the books (not pre original SW trilogy or X-Wing or Bounty Hunter or the little kids publications with Jacen and Jania) thay they're come out with, and am currently reading my 50th and 51st books. heart

Vhoed Runechild I need a good Star Wars RP but people keep kicking me outta them and not letting me be a Jedi *falls over laughing* You do realize I advertised my "Star Wars RPG" on the guild like, back in May, right? It's over in a guild called "Pandangel Plus". I've taken a hiatus from it, but I plan to post in there again once I return from my family reunion this weekend. I'll let you be a Jedi, hell, nearly everyone there is either Jedi or Sith. heart

The_man_phantom i like LOTR more than star wars A lot of people do. But I'm one of the boths. I grew up liking SW, and then LOTR came along and became my fav too. Of course, by SW I'm meaning old school trilogy, not the new stuff. I still like the new stuff, but LOTR is far better. Sorry Ewan... sad heart

There's only 5 hot guys? *thinks* 1.) Orlando Bloom (Legolas) 2.) Sean Bean (Boromir) 3.) Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) 4.) Billy Boyd (Pippin) 5.) Dominic Monaghan (Merry) 6.) Elijah Wood (Frodo) 7.) Sean Astin (Sam) 8.) David Wenham (Faramir) 9.) Craig Parker (Haldir) 10.) Karl Urban (Eomer)
I counted 10....
ANYWHO!
Dazed, you NEED TO enable your PM's. I tried to PM you a response to your question about signatures, but your PM's are turned off. You turn these on in the Edit Profile area under your Profile. Here's is my response to your PM, btw...
DazdandCunfewzd I know I don't really know you but your the host of the LOTR forum im on and I was wondering if you could help me a bit. I was wondering how you get pictures at the bottom of you posts...think you can help??
Well, go to Profile, then click one Edit Profile. Near the bottom there is a text box where you can type in stuff. If you have already hosted the site (uploaded it to somewhere like http://www.imageshack.us or, better yet, http://www.tinypic.com ) then take the URL (web address) of that link (the picture) and post it in there. You will have to add the BBCode to make it an image, like... for example...
[ img ]malformed url[ /img ] (only without the spaces in between [ and img and ] and such)
And then just save it. Make sure however that it is within the GAIA Terms of Service agreement. Here's what the Rules & Guidelines of Gaia says...
Please keep signatures less than 500 pixels in size in both width and height, and a total byte-size of less than 100,000 bytes. Ability to post signatures may be removed if you do not comply with a moderator's request to follow this standard.
Try to keep your images PG-13. Tasteful nudity in the art forums is allowed on a case-by-case basis, but on the whole, it is a good idea to cater to a range of audiences. This includes the very young.
You should be good to go.
If you still can't get it, give me the website that the picture is on, I'll upload it to TinyPic or ImageShack and then give you the URL and BBCode tags to put in the Signature space of your Profile.

personally, i think that star wars is amazing, since the universe is much broader than lord of the rings and it also has TONS of room to grow in. However, the star wars universe draws heavily of other works, such as frank herbert's dune, not to say that lord of the rings doesn't draw of other stuff, whic it does (legends- i think celtic or something). Despite that fact, the lord of the ring movies are only not as good as the star wars moies because star wars was designed as a movie, wheraes lord of the rings was designed as a book, so they had to cut a ton of stuff, which made me pissed off. Other than that, though, the lord of the rings aree undeniably better than the star wars books, even though there are more star wars books, quality beats out quantity every time, and j r r tolkein is one of the best writers the world has ever seen.
okay, now i will stop my rant, otherwise noone would read my post it would be soo long
