Chloe entered into the cool interior of the cave, blinking for a moment to clear her vision as her eyes adjusted to the sudden darkness of the Dragon's Lair. She turned, casting one last glance at the light emanating from the entrance, before gulping, stepping into the cave completely.
"Come on out, Dai," she whispered, not liking how her voice echoed off of the cold stone walls. The Seadra emerged from his Pokeball, nodding as Chloe hopped on his back once more, as the large seahorse made his way across the water, following Chloe's direction as they slipped silently through the water.

Following Chloe's direction, Daimon tried to speed things up a bit, because Chloe had started to shiver a bit in the cold cavern. Being wet on top of things didn't help much, as Chloe bit back a sneeze. The last thing she needed was to catch a cold.
"Meh, I'll be fine, just head that way," Chloe instructed, as Daimon nodded, following her pointed finger as the two headed further into the cave. Thankfully, there was a faint amount of light reflected off of the water from the torches that lined the small island where the center shrine lay, so they were able to make out the shapes of the rocks and rough waters ahead.

The two tried to ignore the movement beneath them, as a few stray Magikarp and Dratini sped to get out of their way, not used enough to visitors in the small cavern to stick around the unfamiliar human and her Seadra.
Chloe didn't seem to have any notice of them, as her gaze remained fixed on the shrine in the center of the cavern, clutching her bag a bit tighter as she let her mind take her back.
"I'm coming..." she murmured to no one in particular.
She was more than suspicious she knew who had lit the torches, almost as a beacon to her. Still, caution was best, she knew, as she motioned for Daimon to keep as quiet as possible, as the two slipped ever closer through the water to the shrine.

The two finally made it to the shore, as Chloe hopped off of the Seadra, offering her thanks as she recalled him into his Pokeball for now. She knew that she would have use of him later on, so she needed him to rest up a bit before the trip back to Blackthorn.
The sound of a voice drew her from her musings, as she whirled towards the source. It didn't seem to be addressing her, however, as the voice she recalled from those many years ago spoke once again, the very sound almost drawing Chloe to tears as she struggled to remain standing.
"I will find out why..." she murmured as quietly as she could, reassuring herself.

As if in answer to her revelation, Raef turned, smiling faintly to Chloe.
"I've been waiting..." he murmured, stroking his hand along the Ampharos' back as the Pokemon helped him stand. His leg was bandaged up, and, although the lighting was dim, Chloe could still make out the dark stain of blood.
Chloe dragged her thoughts away from the past that was luring her back into a state of contentment and ease. After all, Israfel was siding with Notaro! There was no way for her to rest easy with that fact hovering above her like an ominous cloud.

"Oh, I know what he's done alright... all too well...." Israfel murmured quietly, looking to Chloe.
"He's taken countless lives, destroyed both People and Pokemon, and is a demented, twisted, insane man," he continued unabated, just as Chloe was about to shout out something pretty much along those lines.
"So why would I side with him? Easy, I had no other choice," Raef smirked sadly. "I had no other options, and its as simple as that. Siding with him was within my best interest, to say the least. And you'd find that he's not too forgiving for those who want to leave his little fold."
"So why not come with us?" Chloe insisted, grasping at straws. "After all we've been through, you know it'll be alright if we stick together."
"Heh, its not that simple, little one," Raef chuckled. "He's always watching. I wouldn't be suprised if he even knew I was here today. There's no escape when you're on his good side, so you can suppose the problems if you insist on leaving while you're on his bad side," he motioned to the bandages with a resigned smile.

"I knew I had to get it, before he does," Chloe steeled herself, "With you working for him, I knew it wasn't safe here any more."
"Ah, a valiant effort," Raef smiled coldly, "You've grown stronger, even if you're shaking right now," he suddenly sneered, "My little puppet seemed to not be able to do the job after all..."
Chloe's eyes widened, looking up at Israfel in fear.
"Wha... who are you?" Israfel's eyes stared blankly, unseeing at her, as he continued to speak. It was indeed his voice coming from his lips, but something was off...

"But, I'll be sure to leave this little fact between myself and my puppet. The third party here is unfortunately, not going to last long enough to pass on this info," Israfel's hand waved the Ampharos forward, who gave his trainer a questioning look.

Chloe winced, not wanting to fight Israfel. After all, Raef had been the first person she considered a friend. Even if he did have a tendency to steal things...
But the figure before her wasn't giving her the option, as the Ampharos finally grudgingly obeyed Notaro's orders, since they had been coming from Israfel's mouth. The electric type stood before Chloe, tail brightening as it charged its electrical energy.
Chloe instantly called Mikami to the area around the shrine, as the Trapinch emerged with a cry, instantly recognizing the Ampharos and grinning broadly. There was finally going to be a battle!

"Mikami, use Earth Power," Chloe murmured reluctantly, looking to the Ampharos. "I'm sorry...." she said, shaking her head. Mikami paid it no heed, as it wasn't directed at him, and instantly lashed out with a ground-shaking tremor that knocked the Ampharos from its feet as the ground shifted beneath it.

"Signal Beam," Notaro ordered the electric type, who nodded, getting into the mood of thing as it whirled, the orb on its tail shooting out a beam of light, striking Mikami hard, as the Trapinch growled, struggling to keep his footing on the soft clay of the shrine's island.

"Keep at it, Mika," Chloe growled determinedly. There was no way she was going to let Notaro win, even though it was technically Israfel.... No time to think about that now, she told herself, motioning Mikami forward.
"Use another Earth Power!"

"Fire Punch," Israfel demanded, motioning the Ampharos to stand once the tremors settled. The electric type nodded, dashing forward, fists first, as they glowed with a fiery power, he slammed into Mikami with a strong punch, sending the small Trapinch flying. Mikami grumbled the whole way, flopping on his back and scrambling to right himself as he hissed at the Ampharos, clearly ticked.

"Alright, finish it off with one last Earth Power," Chloe instructed her friend once the Trapinch recovered from the punch. Mikami easily agreed, and the strong tremors shook the cavern once more, dust falling from the ceiling as the island shifted on its foundations.

Israfel recalled the Ampharos with a sneer, "Such a weakling..." he muttered, as Notaro's words came over him, continuing on. "My Magmortar would have wiped the floor with that bug..."
"Then why don't you fight me yourself! Instead of hiding behind Raef!" Chloe shouted, anger boiling over as she tried to be as brave as she could.
"Because, my girl, that simply wouldn't be as much fun," Notaro sneered, using Israfel's arm to reach for another Pokeball.
