hello everyone. got what it takes to stabd up for your rights. each week or two ill post a topic. anyone can come and express what you think and so forth. people must respect others decison so no fighting used your words caustiouly.

thats settled. today's topic.

do you considered gothic to be held responsible for against religion? many parents are concern about their children and many think gothic is a way to satanism or other things.

tell me your opinion of it.

I think it's very stupid and close minded of parents to think that the gothic culture and satanism are one in the same, when they are in fact different. Some goths are satanics, but I know way more that are Wiccan, Pagan, or even Christian.

Because of the mainstream of most gothics who are Satanic, Many religous parents are afraid that thier children will phase into the "dark side" which isnt true at all. The gothic culture, in all its form is like the Renaissance age. People express themselves as individuals by cutting themselves from the mainstream of society. Dousnt actually mean they go off and worship Satan or any other pagan religion. The culture gives individuals a chance to show the world that not everything is all puppies and candy, Like most preps think... Being gothic isnt about religious views, its about deep individuality and freedom. Why most people think gothic people are evil and strange is because we accepted the unpleasantries of life. We dont hide the fact that goodness resides in everyone and everything, because everyone has done a sin in one time of thier life. Why most of us wear black? Idk, I personaly LOVE the color.

Hey...i remember him...I was one of the first people to tell him off...
He then started saying that we were all gay, and he just said that to see what sort of response he would get, and that he bet his friend...some stupid stuff like that..

Gothic people are not all satenists. Just like Romanians aren't all Vampires. It is sad that there are so many people so quick to label groups of people based on their limited experience with a few of them or the media's view of them.

Heck my church (is christian) youth group had an illustration where a girl wearing a black hoody and baggy ratty jeans was supposed to represent goths. OOOO KKAY! Was she way off. I had to go and correct my dear youth pastor. He appologised and made a formal appology to all the goths he offended in the group the next week. He said he fell prey to stereotyping.

Sad to say but most of the people in the world, especially Americans, do this. I wish they didn't but I have experenced this 15 years now. (I am 28 ) Just because I wear black paint my nails black, wear too much eye make-up and have a thing for biting my mate doesn't mean that I am a bad person, or that I worship saten or that I am wiccan. Not that people who do are better or worse than me they are just not me.

New motto: "Let me be me and you be you"

My thoughts have already been said... but I became long ago when I was still a christian. And it wasn't being goth that led me not to believe anymore, it was extensive research and thought process. Nothing to do with being goth.

Oi! Amazingly, the Marquis de Sade led me to Goth (long story), but I researched (another part of said long story) the culture. I was enthralled with a world as close to my inner-darkness as I, and sought it in any way, grasping what I could.

The problem today is a lack of understanding. Mainstreamers see kids in black, and go "Goths", but the 90's started a whole new system-- the "cool". Goth became in, and its origins were set aside, an arcane lore long forgotten. Then, anyone who listened to "The Cure" or such and wore some semblance of all black was "Goth", or, as I prefer, Neo-Goth. The Neo-Goths lost interest in their roots, and "classical" Goth music and such.

ANYWAY, to the point: Goth is a lifestyle, not a religious choice. It's a comment about the person, not their belief in God (though I'd suggest researchign symbols before you wear them...).

I dont think that being a goth leads to a lack or loss of religion. Some goths are actually very religous Catholics or Christians or whatever religion they are. The mainstream does'nt understand the culture and distorts its meanings. Like the Columbine shooting really made the culture infamous and the media convinced everyone that the kids who shot up the school were goths and that only satanists could do such a thing. The kids were just ******** up, not goths. But not enough people realize this, have any of you heard about the Blue Springs case? The city spent 200,000 something dollars to research the goth kids in the city to see if it was a religous cult or some kind of mind control. The link is at http://www.gothpunk.com .

I read the bloody article. What the hell? They wasted money looking for illegal activities of the gothic community? It is the dumbing down America as we know it.
