The year is 3024. Peace has ruled the land for over one thousand years, humans, and demons have lived together in harmony. Everyone has forgotten the long, bitter battles they once fought. Most thought this was Utopia, the final peaceful state their world would experience. But nothing lasts forever. Man-kind is inherently power hungry, and in 3025, The Peoples Government ( P.G ), an assortment of humans to govern the land, proposed stricter laws on all demons, not allowing marriages between the two. This stirred an outrage in the demon society, and many revolts broke out between the P.G and the demons. After much fighting, in 3028, the government formed a new party, The Federation of Demon Control, aka F.D.C. Despite its name, the F.D.C was ruthless, they hunted down demons and half demons alike, whether they commited a crime or not. The demon population dwindled, and once again, humans became the dominant species.

10 years later, the FDC held the land with an iron grip, seeming more like a dictatorship than the freedom they had hoped for. An outbreak erupted in the demonic society, and a huge revolt was set up on the FDC headquarters, leaving nothing but dust in its trail. The FDC, while planning for an attack was quickly overrun by the sheer physical and mental strength of the demons. The FDC were forced into underground facilities, and the demons arised victorious.

They were not quite as mercifull to the humans

They tortured anyone, and everyone who even slightly resembled the FDC, and demons had seemingly dominated the planet. They thought the FDC had truly fallen. How niave they were.

A will such as man's is not easily overcome. For 15 years, the FDC conducted secret experiments, and finally, in 3053, Doctor Vincent Blackfire had done it. He had made a weapon, capable of sapping the demonic energy from the posseser, and giving it to the wielder. This new weapon was to be called the Crimson Butterfly. The FDC would not be made a fool of again.

As in every battle, there are heros from both sides
~Main characters~
Shinji Sonsaku( Taken by MezzoForte ): A strong, and valued member of the FDC, Shinji was named "Supreme Officer" At the young age of 15. Many adults stand below him in strength, and determination. Shinji is avenging his fathers death from the demon side. Although his rank sounds merciless, often times, Shinji is too kind hearted, and is often a pushover
Takeda Malice:Another member of the FDC, Takeda is not far behind Shinji, yet still behind. His blind hatred, with a zesty mix of jealousy of Shinji, often clash with situations he is faced with. He has worked for the PG, and then for the FDC for 14 years, and hates demons with a passion
Vincent Blackfire( Taken by Alsehr ): A scientist on the FDC's side, Vincent is nothing short of brilliant. His nonstop work on the Crimson Butterfly has finally payed off, and he is now very rich, and very powerful. An egotistical and self righteous man, Vincent is 35, and yet looks to be well into his 50s from the overwhelming stress
Ky( Taken by Asmodiaus_Fire ):When the FDC thinks trouble, Ky is the first that pops into their heads. Ky is a full fledged demon, the only one to have not a drop of human blood in him. A calm, and collected man, he cares only of riding the planet of the "putrid FDC pigs". He would stop at nothing than to kill.
Alice Frans( Taken by Aenakume ): Torn between her human father and demon mother, Alice was forced to kill her father, driving her mother to suicide. She has a positive attitude towards most everything, despite her tear jerking past. She does not share the same hatred for the opposite side, being a half demon like most. She is deeply in love with Ky, who does not share the same feelings for her
(( Custom characters are DEFFINETLY wanted, those are slots that also must be filled, however ))

~Rules~
1. No Godmodding, Spamming, or disrespecting another in any way. These will not be tolerated
2. Romance is WANTED, but keep it PG-13, please
3. All Gaia Rules apply
4. Make a first Post with the words "Jacob's Ladder", so that I know you read this disgustingly long first post ( I know its a lot to read, but its very important )
5. Have Fun!

I've been wanting to try this Rp with some sensible/serious people for quite some time. I'm eager to see how it turns out!

A sigh escaped the young man's lips as he stared at the white ceiling in a daze. Shinji, the boy wonder, the cmmanding officer of the FDC lie there, bored on his white bed. That's all the world was to him now. The white walls, the white ceiling, the white bed with white sheets, white floors, and white doors. Mono-toning consumed everything.

Being in hiding for any amount of time could really mess with one in the head, but not Shinji. Oh no, he kept sane. He would not let the demons frighten him. It had been...Oh...How many years? 7?...No, 8 years since the tragic death of his parents, and yet he could remember it vividly. It still haunted him, to this day. Flashbacks still found a way to sear into his mind. But, all would be ok. an occasional tear here or there would touch his face, and he'd be right back to being Shinji again.

As he layed in thought of many random things, he heard heavy footsteps from outside his door. With a grunt, that sounded more like a bored sigh, he sat himself up in his bed. The cursed raven black hair spilling into his eyes like it always managed to do ( Damn do I need that cut! ). His white casua button-up shirt clinged to him from sweat, and his blazing sapphire blue eyes followed lazily to the door. The heavy footsteps stopped at his door with a clumsy thud. Before they even knocked, Shinji said simply "Come in".

A heavy set man, well into his 50's barged in from the door. He wore a frown, as usual, and walked like his "gun" was too big for his belt. Shinji gave a quick roll of his eyes
"What is it, chief?"
He said in a barely audible mumble. The chief really did disgust him, in more ways than one. The chief grinned at Shinji, and pulled a stogie from his pocket, procceeding to clip it
"I have a job for ya, Shin"
He said gruffly, pulling a lighter from his pocket. Shinji looked towards him, half interested. He turned away, and motioned with his hands
"Go on..."
"I need you to head to the surface, you know, check things out for me. It should be easy enough, even for you, my boy"
He gave a low mumble of dislike, and eyed his sheethed katana across the room. It looked as if he'd have to use it, again. Things on the surface weren't in the best state. Hell, he'd probably get mowed down just for looking like a human

With little interest and effort, he made his way for his weapon, grabbing it securly. His boots, although very big for him, made little sound as he made his way down the whit hallways, and past the security. He supposed he had a job to do. He could feel an immediate surge as the air tight doors open, of demonic energy. This...Was not going to be fun

(I would like to join, and play the character of Vincent. He strikes me as the type of eccentric that I enjoy playing. I believe that I could adequately create a niche for myself in the first RPing thread on the Guild. By the way, the idea is wonderful and I love how well thought out it is. You are definately welcome here. Jacob's Ladder, I'll edit this post into roleplaying, if I am acceptable. =) By the way, you should specify just how it is that one goes about making a "first post".)

Vince gave a sigh and brought a hand up to brush his messy black hair out of his eyes as he lay in bed. Light white tinse littered the once-midnight scalp. He slowly got up from his bed and glanced towards the massive armoir of his, his bedroom was full of items that he had collected over the years, things that interested him. The scientist was more than eccentric. Many of his inventions had come as daydreams, simply from staring at an item or somesuch in his travels. Slowly, he stood and hopped from the edge of the tall bed. Vince was not the tallest of men, but he was by no means the shortest, either. But his body had taken a good amount of damage from all his work on the Crimson Butterfly.

He moved across the room and dressed himself, tiredly. A pair of white pants, a white undershirt, and a white overcoat. A long white, broad-shouldered overcoat with a massive leather belt at the middle that he fastened before placing a pair of sunglasses upon his nose. He stared at himself in a mirror for a moment. "Vince, when did you turn into an old man...?" He asked softly. Only a moment later, he turned and walked through the door. Of course there was always cosmetics, and Vincent was a very rich man.... Unfortunately, it went against his principle.

Though Vincent was one of the best, if not, the best scientist in the FDC, he was kept in the dark most of the time. He knew not what projects were going on, or who exactly was engaging in contact with the upper levels. Blackheart moved down the hallway quickly. The entire human settlement underground was a honeycomb of attached areas. If you were not connected with the rest of them, chances are that you were either a radical, an outsider, or simply too dead to care. Vince took his pathway to the laboratory where he spent a good amount of his time. Just because he had gotten rich and could retire, didn't mean he wanted to. Of course not. Not until the demon scourge was put back down.

He shoved the massive metallic door aside and stepped into the lock, closing it behind him. He fumbled in his pocket for a small card of sorts and placed it against a small reader. Within moments, the door in front clicked and opened. The door was not to keep the lab sterile, Vince was just incredibly paranoid. Any number of things could go wrong if another person had gotten into his lab. Any experiment could be changed, the effects altered for the worse.

But finally, he stepped inside and looked around, happy. This was his real home. He moved over to a table where several unfinished experiments lay, and looked at them apathetically. Today was his day off, he just realized. But then again, any day he chose could be his day off. He turned back towards the door and exited the lab, to go searching the halls out of boredom.

(( Thank you! Of course you can have Vincent. You can do one of two things on your first post. Either make a profile that states whatever you think would be important, or, which is prefered, make a descriptive first post that fits in everything that a reader or another poster would want to know. Ultimately, it comes down to whatever you feel more comfortable with ))

_____________________________

The surface... now ridden with strict, demonic dominance. The air was rank with it, among other things, like the common stench of the city, and people in it. Provided it was a little different with demons being the main populace, the general idea was still the same nonetheless. Despite the time of day, the air seemed dark and stagnant, enough to choke any optimist's spirits within the hour, and gnaw at the minds of the masses if they cared enough.

To a certain, ebon-haired 'human' on the surface, this was of no concern, as he'd gotten numb to the prominent, unholy presence years ago. Despite his appearance, he rarely was disturbed by the resident demons; in fact, they often ignored him, though that didn't mean he wasn't well-known. The sort of peace that ignorance usually promised was what the tall, burly male hoped for this day, though something told him such would not be the case.

Running a solid hand through his hair, he let the tousled bits of shoulder-length black flop right back over his forehead and the sides of his face, eventually stuffing the very fingers into their respective pocket as he continued at a steady pace along the empty sidewalk. He was a big man, at least six and a half feet, and sported a notably bulky build, which offered the illusion he was even larger, and made him look rather imposing. His complexion was of a somewhat tan hue, though he didn't spend any real prolonged amount of time in the sun, and he had rather unusual eyes, shaded a honey gold. His attire was rather simple, and remained relatively the same regardless of the time of year; a simple, moss-green muscle shirt, and faded black pants.

While passing the end of a narrow alleyway, the end of a human ear twitched to the noises emitting from its confines, like those of a small group beating. Not even offering the passage a glance, the man lowered his head with a quiet snort, continuing steadily forward. He had no desire to nose around in things that didn't concern him, thus, he saw little point in actually looking, and would have preferred if he couldn't hear anything. Alas, before he finished passing, he'd been noticed, and a rather unfamiliar voice called down the way towards him.

"Oi, Tyr! We've found a human we think might be with the FDC! Wanna see?!"

Mid-step, the solidly built fellow paused, eventually drawing back to set his foot on the ground, and slowly turned his head. Tyrrandus Sihlbatael was his name, and despite the claim of his appearance, he was no human, as only his eyes hinted upon. Looking down the way, he narrowed his eyes, slowly turning, before beginning down the way. He paused and looked around at the small group of three demons to summon his attention, before his gold gaze shifted upon the quivering mass at their feet, twitching his nose, until lifting his lip with a deep, gruff snort.

He may have been inhuman, but he did not bear the same ill-will that tainted the judgement of most demons. He did not share the same ideals as the humans did, either, instead only caring to avoid any overly unpleasant dealings with either side. "This had better be good, else you'll rue having dealt so crudely with a young woman," Tyrrandus growled, slowly striding past them.

And so, Shinji stood there, a "woosh" of air hitting him from behind from the air tight doors slamming shut. He stared out in front of him, the blackness of the night consuming most everything. It really did look ominus. The streets were dirty, and the buildings run down. The street in front of him had more potholes than a teenager has pimples. A sign, hanging off of its hinges read "Welcome to Turrington", it had been vandalized many time. Shinji looked in disgust. Truly, demons were pigs

He took a careful step forward, eyeing a coffee shop up ahead. He supposed he'd take a peek in there, and hope that no one would maul him. Maybe he could even grab a cappucino while he was at it. His katana was at his side, clipped onto his belt buckle, and dragged a little on the ground, from Shinji's laughable height of 5'5. A high calibur pistol at his other side, several times more powerful than a cougar magnum. It was a proto-type Blackfire's lattest and greatest invention, the Crimson Butterfly. This thing could tear open a hole the size of a grapefruit.

He approached the shop, with a yawn. I had been awhile since sleep granted him. The bulding was wooden, and old fashioned. The door still had a bell on it, and the steps were also wooden, rotting from age. Bracing himself, he stepped through, careful to make eye contact with no one, and sat at a table on the far edge, facing a window. He pulled a tooth pick from his pocket, and began to dawle with it in his mouth, a nervous habit, as he waited for the waitress.

Outside, it turned from a light drizzle, to a heavy rain. It was dusk, and yet, it looked gloomier than night. He faced the window, keeping his black sheeth, with the hint of a hilt of a katana, close to his right side, as Shinji was left handed. The eyes on him made him feel like the walls around him were closing in. Paranoia? Or yet another percaution the FDC had drilled into him?

After what seemed like an eternity, the waitress arrived, wearing a friendly smile, and carrying his iced cappucino. She set it onto the table in front of him, and Shinji in response made a simple "Thanks". The waitress looked to be human, although, Shinji supposed she wasn't. Filth, they were, really. and the even scarier thing is that you can't tell the filth from the humans, sometimes...

She walked away, seemingly offended by Shinji's rude nature. Not that he cared much. and so, he sat there, sipping his drink, andwaiting for a lead, or for something to catch his 9interest outside. It would only take about an hour, then he could go back underground, and report that nothing was happening. Only an hour....Only an hour...

Stepping closer to the traumatized, sobbing human lass, Tyrrandus kneeled in a slow, fluid motion, reaching down for her shoulders, where he turned her towards him, and lifted a hand to cradle her battered chin. Despite the rainwater dripping into his face from the ends of his hair, his eerie gold eyes, perhaps even slightly luminous, narrowed in a piercing stare upon her features, before his rumbling voice drifted forth over the rain hitting the ground around him.

"Fair lady, what is your current alliance?"

His words only provoked a body-wrenching shudder from her form, while the grimace on her face intensified, and she tried feebly to pull away, clamping her eyes shut in an effort to block out the flicker of Tyrrandus' eyes. She opened her mouth to try and speak, only for her voice to reduce into more horrified sobbing before she could even form a single word, her frail shoulders racking as a slender hand reached up for her half-blooded face.

Tyrrandus' eyes frowned first, before his face eventually followed, and he cautiously released the woman, slowly rising to his feet with his head angled downward towards her re-curling form. There he remained still a moment, before slowly turning to the three behind him, who seemed eager for his verdict, and directing his gaze to each of them in turn. Not one of them noticed his air of utter disgust, until a deep, threatening growl rumbled into the trembling air, at which point he watched all of them freeze, and the eagerness fade from their faces.

"All three of you are blinder than rats without eyes," he snarled, before twitching his fingers, which had turned stark-white and armed with lethal, serpent-like claws, and he slowly turned entirely around, gold eyes flickering furiously.

Within no more than three minutes, a number of inhuman shrieks rent the night air asunder, echoing off the many walls populating the outdoors, and the pungent stench of blood flooded the mist that drifted along the ground with the falling waters, as if to tell of a recent slaughter.

Blackfire gave a massive groan and kicked the large door open to one of the lounges near the labratory. The door had been broken for a while and he had been meaning to put a work order in to fix it. He stepped inside and glanced around, seeing several other scientists and workers chatting around their respective tables.

A few people stared at Vince and whispered to eachother as he made his way to the counter, grabbing up some packets of sealed food, grown underground with the aide of sun lamps. He chewed the packet open and walked out, his large black shoes thudding against the ground. Vince was horrible bored, and this was not a good thing.

For you see, when someone eccentric like Vince gets bored, things tend to happen. He walked further down the hallway, his sights set back on his lab as he ate the processed food. He pushed his way back into the lab and stared around through his dark sunglasses, balanced delicately on his nose. He adjusted his white overcoat and found a large holster with one of the previous weapons he had created on it.

"How about a walk, ol girl?" He asked of the weapon as he picked it up and tapped the mounted lazer sight on it. Hardly a powerful weapon, the true strength in it lay in the ability to cause horrible pain. Acid-filled shells would burst upon impact and cause horrible scarring. But for the larger opponents, it did little more than piss them off. He holstered the item and looked up for a moment at a computer console in the corner of his lab.

Vince was tired of being safe. He had done more than he needed to for this damned place. If he lived, great. Oh well. Bored has it's ways of causing problems for eccentric people like Vince. So he started waling again, through the hallways. This time, towards one of the elevators that led up to the main floor. From there, he would go walking outside.

Even though he was away from his experiments, the eccentric man was still in his own world. Daydreaming as he walked. His light, formerly blue, but now gray eyes seemed all too dull for a man who was so rich and important. Almost apathetic. Pity.

((jacobs ladder Mezzo, you know who popping in. For Ky, of course...))

Ky growled low and held the man by the throat, his elongated and razor sharp fingernails digging into the man he held above his own head.
"Tell me where Blackfire is!! NOW!!" He commanded, sick and tired of the coy game he played with him. This contact was getting sickly exhausted.... and useless.
The other man grunted and gargled, ripping at Ky's hands unsuccessfully and kicking his legs. He looked once, through dimming eyes, the guards that lie dying on the ground, three or four...
"FDC....tomorr...ow..." He managed to get out, and finally Ky was satisfied.
These tiny little words had let him know exactly what he wanted to hear, and that was all the man was useful for now.
"thank you. Good night." He said, and with a tiny flick of his other hand the man's throat was slit open. The man fell to the ground, and Ky walked casually to the stairs, up the wooden steps that threatened to cease at any moment, and opened the door at the top. There was a kitchen, and he walked past them all sticking out a tongue as his black longcoat, fitted with chains and spikes, and his blue hair, whipped in the artificial breeze. He even grabbed a melon and no one stopped him. He grinned.
He came into the restaurant and passed a few people before, suddenly, he caught the sight of someone familiar.
The boy wonder,.... Shinji of the FDC. Well how about that...
"Shinji!!" he said, and walked over to the boy, towering over him and then sitting down.

Shinji sat there facing the window, the rain coming down like a waterfall now outside. He sighed. Such a gloomy time. The weather had been rainy for years now...Pollution had seen to that

Shinji heard faintly, the sound of his voice, not because the person spoke faintly, but because he was off in his little dream world. He said, very absently, and with a boyish grin on his face "Yes?"

Just then, reality snapped back to him. He was in a pool of demons, and one knew his name. Quickly, he whipped around. The figure in front of his was a ravishing young man, looking to be in his twenties, with long blue hair, and beady eyes. It was Ky

Shinji had never met Ky in person before. But then, of course, no one that lived had. Ky was sort of the "overlord" of demons. He lead all the attacks on the FDC, and he always seemed to be there whenever there was trouble between the humans and demons, which was all the time.

Shinji practically fell out of his seat, and practically screamed
"Ky?!"

"How's the FDC treating you? Good I hope,.... that will come to an end soon enough." he said, a promising tone in his vioce as he started to peel the melon in his hands. He let his jacket fall to reveal the gun in it's holster, the crimson Hornet he'd stolen from Blackfire's lab before the building had collapsed.
