Around the fireplace is set a circle of various chairs, both comfortable and roomy, small and non-impressive. In the center sits a chair with its back to the gently glowing fire, in its wood is carved a multitude of beasts and plants, woven into a neverending tale of strife and triumph, heroes and villans, the rise and fall of kingdoms.

This is the Circle of Tales, set up specifically for this years halloween event in Mansion 19 for the entertainment of its guests. But be warned, there is a set of codes that must be followed to recieve the greatest amount of fun...

-Only one person may sit in the Telling Seat (the carved chair) at a time.
-Listen respectfully to the one sitting in the Telling Seat.
-When it is your turn in the Telling Seat, you may choose to tell one short tale or to continue on a previously told tale, to create a long, elaborate story.
-When you are done with your tale, you MUST get up from the chair to give someone else a chance.
-This is a G-rated game. Keep profanity to a minimum and NO CYBERING in your tale.

For Future Reference...
I think it would be most fun if everyone treated this thread as a Role-Play, and bold their text when they are "telling a tale". So, you would RP yourself sitting in the chair after someone else has gotten out, and you could rp yourself gesticulating in certain points. You don't have to, however. Just have fun and tell us your stories! They could be scary, fun, sad, or anything else you think a good story should be.

Salahare settled herself down in the Telling Chair gently, letting her hands glide over the carved images as her story shuffled about in her mind. As the first Tale of the night, she had to leave a good first impression.

She looked up as the first curious people came and had a seat in the circle. "My tale," she began, "Will start us off on a humorous note."

It was a dark and stormy night. But what it definately wasn't, was a spoon.

The angry steel clouds hovered and cackled over our little encampment, the meager fire we had coaxed sputtering under the intense winds as it barely heated the meal for the night, and still all that Ben could think of was if the clouds above became a spoon.

Ben, Ben, Ben... huddled in his parka, muttering how the great stormy spoon would sove our eating dilemma as of late. Hunger must have finally gripped him hard between the eyes, I think.

For how does a night like this resemble a spoon?!

Not at all, one would think. There I sat, poking at the fire's last attempts to live, wind and rain finding every gap in our lean-to to drive its ice-cold nettles down my spine, and I wondered.

"How the heck would a night like this become a SPOON?"

Ben turned to me and stared, giving me the distince feeling that I had somehow allowed a Brownie to steal my prized bowler. Or else he thought I was insane. As if he had room to think that!

Ben continued to ogle me for long, stretched moments. "Sal..." His voice drew out in a long, low moan. "It's not the night that will become a spoon, but that a spoon, in all it's shoveled glory, will begin to descend upon each snake of light from the sky when the time is right.

"You see, this spoon... like any other spoon, intends to be used to heave material from the bowl of humanity so that the One Above may eat his fill. And with this in mind, the spoon will make sure his master shall devour only the tender, juicy broth of pure souls and that no fly may unwittingly be caught amidst the soup."

At long last Ben ended his speech and rolled up into his parka prison to sleep, and at last I knew something that I should not have had to learn at that moment, besides that the fire had gone out.

Ben was insane, and he had our only spoon...

The tale ended, Salahare rose from the Telling Seat and chose a spot nearer the fire, waiting for the next person to rise and Tell A Tale.

Toan took a chance to tell his own tale, and sat down in the proclaimed Telling Seat.

"Well, then, it looks like I'd might as well tell of an interesting thing that happened one day at the lab.

It was a quiet summer's evening, and my friend Eduardo and myself were working late at the research lab. Well, it so happened that there was someone else working late that neither of us knew about, and what happened that night I think drove Eduardo insane.

So, as I was saying. I was in my office, cleaning up before I went home for the night, when Eduardo came into my office. 'Toan!' he said to me, 'I need your help, man.'

I turned around and looked at him. 'Eduardo, I'm about to get going. I have company tomorrow and I'd really like to-'

But he cut me off. 'Toan this is really important!'

'Alright, alright. What is it?' I gave in. Hopefully he was just having another issue with his lights again.

'My lights keep flickering man.' I smiled to myself, having thought that I had successfully predicted his problem.

'Let me guess, they keep going out.' I started walking towards the door.

'No, there's something IN them!' I stopped dead in my tracks.

'What? What do you mean, like a bug or something?'

'No, this thing... It keeps talking to me!'

'Fine... Let's go see what's going on.'

So we went into his office. I started examining the light fixtures, and after about a minute, Eduardo yelled out 'You see?! Do you hear what it's telling me to do?!'

I jumped and nearly hit my head on an overhanging bar. 'What are you TALKING about? I don't hear anything!'

'It keeps telling me to do things, man!'

'Alright, look, Eduardo. Tomorrow's my day off. I gotta get home, because I have company, ok? You should do the same.'

'Alright, Toan... If you say so.'"

Toan stopped at this point in the story and shook his head.

"The next day, Dr. Eduardo Chavez went into work and murdered his assistant. I heard about it when I returned to work."

"Well. That was it for my story." he stood up and took a seat around the fireplace.
