I wish more people new how to properly use the market place. I placed an item in there for simply one gold less than the lowest ( think about it, people will buy your stuff if its the lowest, no matter how much lower) and then i was under priced by 5k. Then that person was underpriced by 12k, then the same pattern continued until the price had dropped to about one third of the starting price. This huge drop in price occured in only 5 people. If each was to drop their prices by just 1g each, then they would still have sold at the same speed. In my opinion, with each price drop more than 1g, your either ripping yourself off, or your donating that much to the person who buys your item.

Another thing is, the Market Place newbies who try to make profit off of the store items by selling them for more than store value. (for example, look at the zorro mask mst of the time) I think that it would make perfect sense to edit the Market Place to have store value be the limit that one can sell store items for. I asked why this was not the case, and i was told that it would stay the same way so that one can sell items with sentimental value attached. The example i was givin was a mod's panties. So in other words, the madness won't end simply for this rare occurance.

The market place is like Ebay, people would sell just about anything on there. And i'm sure they'd buy just about anything too.

I've noticed that the prices fluctuate a lot, and it makes it hard for when i want to sell items from my inventory. I can't quite tell what the true price is supposed to be in the market place, and it takes quite a while to search it all out in the stores. I'd like to atleast make some profit without being greedy and cheap. :/
I know there's probably a forum out there somewhere on Gaia that'll tell me each and every price i need to know but i haven't found it yet. sad

If you wish to sell your items quickly, then just search the lowest buy price of the item you wish to sell, then put yours only 1g lower. Despite what the values is "supposed" to be, the actual value (i believe) is how ever much the lowest priced item in the MP is. For store items on the other hand, I am currently clearing out my inventory and it is slightly anoying that I have to go to stores to find out how much I paid for my item, then go all the way back to the MP and sell it for 1g less than store value.

As for the forum. I know there used to (about 1 year back) be a really informative forum with everything (current value, past value, predicted values, reviews, information) about the donation and other rares (holloween, x-mas event items). I think the thread was called EVIL. Something like, blank, vending, items, list. I don't remember what the "E" stood for, but yeah, it was supported by the Gaia Online Admin as an offical thread for such questions. I haven't heard or seen anything about it sense then though.

Tis most true. It seems that even these non-existent credits take the reign sometimes, you know?

Most of my inventory is commons, and I try hard not to sell anything, but if I do try, I find it really difficult to use the market place. And I always have second thoughts when I use the exchange. xD

Actually, I'm one of the people who overprices store items razz
I do it because most people are too stupid to check the store price, when it actually says how much it says before you buy it. I don't extreamly over priced them, just maybe about 25-50% profit. At the end of the day if they can't do their research and compare items in stores and the market, then it's their problem.

If I want to get of something quickly, I make it cheap. I go into the market and search the item I want to sell; I always make sure "Start with lowest price" is up, so I can see what's the cheapest on offer.

I guess at the end of the day, buy cheap and sell so you get a bit of profit, even if it's only something stupid like 10 gold, because if you're like me, you can easily make 1-3000g in a day, making a profit is a bonus 3nodding

3nodding a quick profit though often goes out the window quickly.

ROAR! It's people like you who make me have to go back to the stores because the prices are all higher than that of the store value! Just kidding. I do see your logic in overpricing, but I guess I’m just one to try and move the products quickly.

1-3000g in one day? Pretty good. I don't make my gold. I buy allot of donation items (currently the proud owner of multiple Ancient Katanas) and then they become worth more. Hell, some of these katanas that I have where worth only 24k when I got them. Now I can sell each of them for a 16k profit. In only about a month the katana's prices have doubled.

Sometimes I take advantage of the lowest buy prices when people under price an item. I bought some really jacked up pants and turned right around and sold them for a 9k profit.

They way I buy stuff is buy the cheapest stuff I want/need first then start saving up for the bigger things. I try to make sure I at least have a minimum of 3-4000 gold in my wallet at all times, in case i find something dirt cheap that i know I can sell for more wink

I'm also going to buy some donated items once in a while (as in I'm going to Donate to Gaia, not buy them from the market), wait a couple of months and see how quickly the prices go up. I sort of know what people 'want' so if I get the right donated item and keep it in my cold hands for a long while I will probably make a profit in some shape of form.

What can I say. I'm skinking ebay-style whore! whee

Yeah. That's why I spent all my spending gold on Ancient Katanas. In about a months time, they have already doubled in price. Not exactly sure where that stands in the market place history, but I do know it's pretty damn fast for a donation item these days since so many people donate now.

somebody did that to me, with my coco kitty actually. they placed theirs 1.5k below mine, so i just lowered mine by 50, and ten seconds later i had more gold, and one less coco. 3nodding

What Kitty said. It is like eBay. There are a bunch of idiots out there who sell things 10000000x the orignal price. Do they honestly think someone is going to buy it, when many other people sell it for the store value, or less?

But I have to admit, I love those idiots. They make my day when they post publicly how stupid they are, and how they think they can easily rip off people. Most people on gaia are not that dimwitted.
