It's possible. But I don't think so. I know that in Greek mythology that the name Kratos means something like strength and power. Also there was a guy named Kratos that was basically Zeus right hand man in a point of time. I don't remember the website I found it at, but that's what I read. I think the story of God Of War, what with all the conquering Kratos did and all of the things he did is totally original, from the head of David Jaffe.
In Greek mythology, Kratos ("strength") was a son of Styx and Pallas, brother of Nike, Bia and Zelus. He was the personification of strength and power. Kratos and his siblings were all companions of Zeus.
The spelling Kratos would be more faithful to the original Greek spelling, which is Κρατος. The Latinized spelling Cratus has also been used.
Kratos simply accepts Zeus' orders completely. Zeus' justice, for Kratos, is the only possible justice. Kratos cannot understand how someone might fail to hate an enemy of Zeus. He shows an absolute identification of a slave with his master, taking Zeus' thoughts as his thoughts and Zeus' orders as his maxims. Unlike Hephaestus and Oceanus, Kratos experiences no friendship or pity because he has no value system outside the one imposed on him by Zeus. The name Kratos means force, so as a representative of Zeus, this character demonstrates the nature of Zeus' rule.
In some accounts, Kratos along with his brother, Bia, were ordered by Zeus to bind Prometheus to a pillar in the Caucasus Mountains at the eastern end of the Black Sea.
"Operation Kratos" was the name given to the London police shoot-to-kill policy made public in 2005.
