Here is a basic Question/Answer sticky for those confused as to what, exactly, yaoi is and any question pretaining to this subject. If there are any question not yet posted that you would like answered, please post your question in this thread. <3

Q: What is yaoi?
A: Yaoi is boy love. Also known as shounen-ai, bl consists of two boys (or men) that are romantically involved.

Q: What is yuri?
A: Yuri is girl love. Also known as shoujo-ai, gl consists of two girls (or women) that are romantically involved.

Q: What do all those weird Japanese terms mean?
A: There are three distinctive terms that define different characters in yaoi - seme, uke and seke.
Seme litterally means "attacker" and denotes a character that is domminant. It also means "giver." Semes are the taller, more masculine and generally swoon-worthy, handsome guys (the phrase "tall, dark and handsome" can be applied here). They are the more manly, masculine side of the relationship.
Uke means "receiver." Ukes tend to be shorter and more feminine... "pretty," even. They tend to be the cute/kawaii portion of the relationship. They are generally petite.
Seke means "flex" or "switch." This is someone who can be either seme or uke (therefor combines to become seke). Sekes can be tall, petite, medium... anything. They're flexible, after all. :"D
When a profile asks for "position," this is what it is refurring to. <3

Q: Do I have to be gay/bi to like yaoi?
A: No. Just open-minded. Plenty of straight girls like it and even quite a few straight guys.

But remember, if the thought of two guys together makes you burning_eyes then the chances are that you probably shouldn't try RPing it.
