User Image #152, Chikorita
Intersting Fact:Chicory is an herb, and the suffix 'ita denotes small size. Hmm....
Pokedex Entry:Chikorita, by nature, are docile Pokémon that love to soak up the sun's rays. This can be attributed to the benefits of the photosynthesis process that occurs when the rays of the sun impact the Pokémon's leaf, and its body, for that matter. The leaf serves multiple purposes; in its natural environment, its leaf detects the density of humidity and temperature in the atmosphere to help it seek warm places. The pleasant aroma that wafts from the leaf can be used by Chikorita in battle by waving it around to becalm the foe and keep it at bay.

User Image #153, Bayleaf
INterseting Fact: Bayleaf looks like a Sauropod
Pokedex Entry: Bayleef looks like a cartoony sauropod. It has a pale yellow body supported by four legs and a rather long neck and tail. On top of its head is a single large leaf and around its neck are seven oval-shaped, striped leaves. Bayleef's most defining trait is the "necklace" of seven tubular leaves that is located around its neck. Each of these curled up leaves contains inside it a tree shoot. From these leaves wafts a spicy scent that has stimulating properties to those who smell it. It can cheer people up, restore their health, make them more energetic and even heighten their drive for competition.

User Image #154, Meganium
Interesting Fact: Meganium's name is the same in both japanese, french, and english, which isin't very common!
Pokedex Entry: Meganium is a large, imposing green creature resembling a brachiosaurus, but with antennae and a large flower growing around its collar. Despite it's feminine appearance, it is primarily a male species, female individuals outnumbered seven to one by males, so female Meganium are understandably a precious commodity.
The pheremones within its flower are its defense against those who would attack it for its size; they give off a fragrance that can instill feelings of peace and calm in all around it, thus suppressing their need to attack Meganium for food. This fragrance is effective enough to affect even a Pokémon like Primeape, which is noted for its unmatched temper.
Meganium also has magically natural powers in its breath, which somehow is able to restore life to dead plants and grass.

User Image #155, Cyndaquil
Intersting Fact: Hinoarashi, Cyndaquils japanese name, can be tranlsated into 'fire storm' and is a pun of yamaarashi, the old owrd for 'porcupine'
Pokedex Entry: When not seen curled up, Cyndaquil are covered with dull-yellow fur with a rich streak of blue running from the tip of its snout over its head and spreading out to cover the majority of its back. There are also four spots of red fur on the back; these have special characteristics (see below). Due to its timidity, few have ever seen Cyndaquil with its eyes fully opened, so a proper eye color has not been documented. While it is a quadruped, Cyndaquil is more than capable of maneuvering on two legs.Though it is called the Fire Mouse Pokémon, Cyndaquil bears a closer resemblance to the echidna, porcupine or hedgehog than the mouse. Although it is not covered in physical spines like these animals, when Cyndaquil is frightened or angry, it can focus its internal energy to produce blazing "spines" of flame from the red vent spots on its back. Cyndaquil's fur is flame-resistant, as is that of the other two Pokémon in its evolutionary line.

Cyndaquil are generally timid and not naturally aggressive, and are often seen curled into a ball for protection. This action leaves its back and special flame-emitting vent fur exposed. When predators and enemies stalk too close, Cyndaquil unleashes a furious flame from the vents as a deterrent. If provoked further, Cyndaquil will intensify its flames, creating a smokescreen that will buy it some time to escape

User Image #156, Quilava
Intersting Fact:'quils' are hollow and are genreally on porcupines for protection. They pierce the skin and are very painful
Pokedex Entry: Quilava are noted for their speed, and can nimbly evade attacks while scorching their enemies. They can also create gusts of superheated air. The non-flammable fur on a Quilava's back allows it to withstand any Fire-type attack, as well as burn enemies in close contact. PLus, they're really cute!

User Image #157, Typhlosion
Interesting Fact: The name Typhlosion has several possible origins. It could be a combination of typhoon and explosion. Another possibility is that it is a combination of Typhon, a figure in Greek mythology, and explosion. Typhon in Greek mythology is said to have had children with a monster named Echidna. Since the echidna is also a type of animal, and since Typhlosion's base form, Cyndaquil, is classified as an echidna, this is also a likely source of the name. Its Japanese name is a likely a misspelling of the word bakufū, an explosive blast
Pokedex Entry: Unlike Cyndaquil, Typhlosion bears no relation to the echidna, instead resembling something of a massive biped weasel, ferret, badger, but possibly even a bear by its great size and strength. Its body is heavy, but despite that, it's capable of obtaining incredible speeds. The number of special vents it possesses has dropped to the row on its upper back; however, it can put forth a tremendous amount of heat. Typhlosion could also resemble a lion because of the ring of fire around its neck much like a mane. Typhlosion carries the same coloration of its lower forms. Its yellow fur is brighter than it is on Quilava, yet still duller than Cyndaquil. Its fur is incredibly coarse and somewhat shaggy, but it is still fire-proof.
Far more aggressive than either Cyndaquil or Quilava, Typhlosion are exceedingly hard to find out in the plains. They are a known cause of grassfires as the heat they expel is hot enough to cause the air around them to shimmer. It viciously assaults its opponents, reducing them to ashes from its incredibly hot fire.
Though not color-blind, Typhlosion have slightly poorer eyesight than Quilava due to smaller pupils. It makes up for this by possessing a keen sense of smell and remarkable hearing. Capable of moving on either two feet or four, it can also make incredible leaps to attack opponents from above.

#158 Totodile

Interesting Fact: The name Totodile comes from the words tot (a word for a small child) and crocodile. For the Japanese Waninoko, "wani" (ワニ) means alligator and "ko" is a suffix that means "child".
Pokedex Entry: Totodile's appearance is based on amphibious reptiles such as the crocodile or the alligator. It has a short blue body broken by a yellow band on its chest. On its back and tail are four red spikes. Totodile has a big and prominent jaw, filled with many sharp teeth. Its blue colour resembles water - its type.

Despite its small size and unevolved status, Totodile are surprisingly fast and have very powerful jaws, strong enough to cut down a tree. It has a rough and tough attitude, and is not a Pokémon to be trifled with. It's very energetic, cheerful and rowdy, and occasionally can be seen running through swampy areas, biting and chomping at everything that moves. There have been rare instances in which Totodile have been found roaming the sewers of large cities.

Totodile itself does not seem to realize its own strength. It may be causing serious injury while it thinks it's just playfully nipping. Therefore, constant supervision is required on the part of Totodile's trainer.

#159 Croconaw

Interesting Fact: Just as the last part of Totodile's name is the last part of crocodile, the first part of Croconaw's name is the first part of that word. The second part is most likely a misspelling of gnaw because, just like Totodile, Croconaw will clamp onto anything with its jaws.
Pokedex Entry: It opens its huge jaws wide when attacking. If it loses any fangs while biting then new ones will grow back in its place. This means that there are always 48 fangs lining its mouth. The tips of these fangs are slanted backward. Once Croconaw has clamped its jaws on its foe, it will absolutely not let go. Because the tips of its fangs are forked back like barbed fishhooks, they become impossible to remove when they have sunk in. This means that the prey has no hope of escape. The pattern on Croconaw's belly vaguely resembles a jungle tunic or loincloth.

Croconaw live in or around swamps. When they evolve into Feraligatr, they move into an area where there is a waterfall.

#160 Feraligatr

Interesting Fact: Feraligatr's name is derived from a combination of the words feral and alligator. Rumor has it that the full spelling should be Feralligator but the names of Pokémon species, as dictated by the code to any Pokémon game, are limited to a maximum of 10 characters, so the second letter "l" and the "o" were discarded.[citation needed] Its Japanese name is a portmanteau of ō (大, ō?), large, and kurokodairu (クロコダイル, kurokodairu?), crocodile.
Pokedex Entry: Feraligatr have long, blue bodies with four legs, although they may also stand upright on land. Its appendages have sharp claws at the ends, and its jaw is lined with teeth. On its head, back, and tail there are red, jagged scales. The yellow band it had as a Totodile reappears when it evolves from Croconaw. Feraligatr resembles a two-legged alligator with a hunched back. This gives it the appearance of bending over. As stated in the Pokédex in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, "Feraligatr intimidates its foes by opening its huge mouth. In battle, it will kick the ground hard with its thick and powerful hind legs to charge at the foe with incredible speed."

#161 Sentret

Interesting Fact: Sentret's name is a portmanteau of Sentry and Ferret. Its Japanese is a portmanteau of 尾 (o, 尾?), tail, and 立ち (tachi, 立ち?), stand. Otachi thus translates to "standing on its tail".
Pokedex Entry: Sentret bears some resemblance to a flying squirrel, but with rabbitlike ears and a long, round tail. A very cautious Pokémon, it raises itself up onto its tail to get a better view of its surroundings. While standing on its tail, it can see a long way. If it spots an enemy, it will cry out loudly to warn its kind. It will also hit the ground with its tail.

A Sentret will only sleep when another one is standing guard. The Sentret will wake the others at the first sign of danger. Because of this, if one is separated from its pack, then it will be unable to sleep due to fear.

#162 Furret

Interesting Fact: Its name is a portmanteau of "fur" and "turret". Furret may also be taken from the Interlingua name for a ferret, "furretto". Its Japanese name is a combination of 大 (ō, 大?), large, 尾 (o, 尾?), tail, and 立ち (tachi, 立ち?), stand. While its preevolution was described as "standing on its tail", Ootachi, however, is much "larger".
Pokedex Entry: Furret is a long, slender ferret-like animal similar to Linoone but with very short paw-like limbs and a body that appears to consist mainly of one giant tail. In fact, it is impossible to discern where its head and body ends and where its tail begins.

Furret live in colonies much like prairie dogs, with tunnels much too small for normal Pokémon to traverse, yet it is a perfect fit for the slim build of Furret as it hides from the outside world at the surface by traversing through these tunnels like gophers. These tunnel colonies become very complex, especially if they are very deep, and can potentially stretch for miles. Occasionally, these colonies are found intertwined with Diglett colonies.

Furret’s rudimentary paws and legs are deceptively nimble, making Furret a quick, unpredictable predator especially skillful at hunting Rattata, its main prey. Also, the fur of the Pokémon is thicker than it appears, and Furret can fluff up its fur to make itself look much stronger and larger than it actually is as an intimidation tactic towards potential foes.

Furret is normally beige with brown stripes. However, its shiny form is pink.

#163 Hoothoot

Interesting Fact: Hoothoot's name is the word hoot (onomatopoeia for the sound made by owls) repeated twice.

Hoothoot is also the name of this pokémon in German and French. In Japanese, its name is Hōhō (ホーホー).
Pokedex Entry: Hoothoot is one of two owl pokémon; Hoothoot is the smaller of the two, and cannot fly, being similar to the burrowing owl. It is omnivorous and nocturnal.

Hoothoot's most notable feature is that it seems to have one foot. However, it actually has two feet; at least one is retracted against its body at all times, and Hoothoot can switch between one foot and the other at speeds almost too fast for the human eye.

Hoothoot is also known for having precise senses of time, due to a special mechanism in their brain that measures the rotation of the earth. Properly trained, they can be more accurate than all but the most precise of clocks. In nature, they always begin hooting at the same time every night. The feathers (or what could be described as feathers) on its forehead also slightly resemble a clocks hands.

#164 Noctowl

Interesting Fact: Noctowl's name derives from the words nocturnal and owl. Its Japanese name is a portmanteau of 夜の (, yoruno?), of the night, and 青葉梟 (, aobazuku?), the Brown Hawk Owl. Its name thus translates to "owl of the night".
Pokedex Entry: Noctowl is a nocturnal Pokémon. Like most Pokémon which are active during the night, Noctowl possesses superior eyesight. Its eyes are specially adapted so that they can concentrate even faint light and retain satisfactory visibility even in almost complete darkness. This ability is shared by real world animals such as its counterpart, the owl, as well as cats.

When hunting, Noctowl puts its prodigious eyesight to good use to hunt down prey without fail. It is also very good at sneaking up to its victims unnoticed thanks to its supple, soft-feathered wings that allow it to fly without making any noise.

In the Pokémon world Noctowl, just like the owl, is regarded as an icon of intelligence and wisdom. When a Noctowl needs to ponder especially deep thoughts, it can rotate its head 180 degrees, which serves to increase its intellectual faculties. The ability to rotate its head is another trait shared by its real world counterpart.

#165 Ledyba

Interesting Fact: Ledyba (レディバ in original Japanese language versions) is a corrupted version of the word ladybug.
Pokedex Entry: Ledyba resembles a ladybird. It has a red thorax with black spots, a cream-coloured underbelly, six legs and two black antennae.

By itself a Ledyba is very timid, to the point of being afraid to move. When Ledyba become part of a swarm, they become much more active and can cluster next to each other for warmth in cold weather.

A Ledyba communicates with others through an aromatic fluid excreted from the points where its legs meet its thorax. By subtly changing the fluid's scent, the Ledyba can convey a number of different feelings. The fluid can also help to determine a Ledyba's location as well as its current feelings.
