#388 Grotle Interesting Fact: The name Grotle is a portmanteau of the words grove and turtle. The Japanese name Hayashigame is a combination of the Japanese words for forest (林, hayashi?) and turtle (亀, kame?). Pokedex Entry: Grotle lives alongside water in forests. During the daytime, it leaves the forests to let the trees on its shell take in sunlight. Its shell is also strengthened by soil. Very slow and gentle, they only battle when needed, and in battle they will fight valiantly for the trainer. These are Pokémon who come to eat the seeds which have already grown into trees. Its main colors are brown and green. It resembles a snapping turtle, Ankylosaurus or Stegosaurus. Owned By: Whysperwind, Dezaki

#389 Torterra Interesting Fact: The name Torterra is a portmanteau of the words tortoise and terra. Its Japanese name Dodaitose is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for foundation (土台, dodai?) and the English word tortoise (トータス, tōtasu?). Pokedex Entry: Torterra possess a giant, flat-looking shell that resembles those of the ankylosaurs. The rim of the shell is white and above their heads is a diamond-shaped extension of the rim. Torterra carry on their shells an enormous tree with soil nearby and three mountain peaks on its back, giving the impression that one is looking at a landscape from a distance. Their bodies are bulky and seem to be too big for their shells. Their bulk no longer allows them to withdraw into their shells as easily as they could as Turtwig, though it gives a sufficient amount of protection from foes. Their main body colors are a dull green on their backs and heads with a brown underbelly and legs. Torterra have several vertical lines running across their backs, though they have fewer lines going across their bellies. They bear two large spikes that jut out of the sides of their heads, making it look somewhat like an Ankylosaurus. Torterra's eyes are intimidating, encircled by a black ring and bearing small red pupils. Their mouth is jagged and at the end of their snout is a dark brown beak, giving them the appearance of a snapping turtle. Their thick, tree trunk-like legs are massive and powerful in order to hold up their enormous, heavy bodies. They bear three toes on each of their legs and appear as if they are actually jagged stones. Their shell is the basis of their classification as the Continent Pokémon, befitting not only for their shell's appearance, but also for the size of Torterra's actual body. Despite their great size, these Pokémon are peaceful in nature and enjoy being with others of their own kind, preferring to bask in sunlight as they do not like to fight. When immobile, they look as if they are part of the ground upon which they rest, not as though they were a sleeping Pokémon. Because of this appearance, there are occasions when small Pokémon will gather and build nests on the shell of a stationary Torterra. When Torterra do move, they often move in herds in search of water. These herds give the impression of a moving forest. Torterra is the heaviest of all the final evolved starters, and the second tallest, coming in only behind Feraligatr. Owned By: No one yet

#390 Chimchar Interesting Fact: The name Chimchar is a portmanteau of the English words chimpanzee and charcoal, while the Japanese name Hikozaru may be a portmanteau of the Japanese words for fire (火, hi), child (子, ko) and monkey (猿, saru). Pokedex Entry: Chimchar are based on chimpanzees. Being very agile, Chimchar are able to climb the rocky ledges of tall mountains, where they live. The flames on their rears are produced by burning gas in their stomachs. Chimchar also has a swirl-like symbol on the chest. The flames do not go out in the rain, and, unlike the tail flames of Charmander, those of Chimchar go out when they go to sleep. Despite being based on chimpanzees, Chimchar's "cry" is actually much more similar to that of a spider monkey. #391 Monferno Interesting Fact: The name Monferno is a portmanteau of the words monkey and inferno. The Japanese name Moukazaru is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for roaring flames (猛火, mōka) and monkey (猿, saru). Pokedex Entry: Much of Monferno's hair is a bright orange color. Monferno now has a tail, unlike its previous form Chimchar. Its tail is similar to those of Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard and Magmar due to the flames at the tips. This flame is often used as a weapon. When threatened, Monferno increases the size of its flame in order to appear larger than it really is, which is useful in scaring off attacking foes. It has white hair around its neck and gold arm bands. The blue-and-red markings on its face are similar to those of a Mandrill, an animal on which Monferno may be based. Owned By: No one yet

#392 Infernape Interesting Fact: The name Infernape is a portmanteau of the words inferno and ape. The Japanese name Goukazaru is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for hell-fire (業火, gōka) and monkey (猿, saru). Pokedex Entry:Infernape's body is a brownish-red color and it has a large flame on its head; this flame burns throughout Infernape's entire life. The tail flame it had as a Monferno has disappeared, and Infernape wears a gold chest ring in place of a chest plate. It also has gold shoulder pads, knee pads and wrist bands. The blue and red markings it had on its forehead as a Monferno have now changed to a deep blood-red color. Its hands, feet, and inner ears are blue. It uses its hands and feet to pull off special fighting attacks. Infernape uses a unique fighting style that utilizes all of its limbs. It is most competitive when it comes to speed. It is the shortest in height of the fully-evolved main series starter Pokémon to date, being only 3 feet and 11 inches tall, although this can be due to the fact that it is always standing in a crouching position. It is mainly based on the Sun Wukong or otherwise known as Monkey King; also his name seems to represent this, as the Japanese interpretation of his name is Son Goku. Infernape also may be a bit based on Hanuman the Monkey God of Hindu mythology. Owned By: No one yet
