DO NOT POST UNLESS YOU ARE Faevan & Dio da Goat.

Welcome to the scrapbook of Shin Daiko. This message thread is for the simple purpose of allowing both Faevan and Dio da Goat to record information and keep photographs of their Elemental Spirit child, Shin Daiko. Please be mindful and do not post in this thread unless you have been given explicit permission by Faevan.

Shin Daiko's Phase I Information:

Speech: Shin Daiko seems unwilling to formulate speech on his own. He has a habit of repeating the last few words which are spoken by another person. When he speaks to his master, he calls Dio "Papa."

Appearance: A strange ruffle of leaves grows from the top of his head, much like a dense bush. His "wings" are more like the branches of a tree than any anatomy of an animal. His skin is somewhat coarse, but much more like the texture of a young sapling.

Abnormalities: Like a young sapling, the body of this fae is very frail. Although he is energetic like other children, there is something dangerous in allowing him to run about carelessly. Tender parts, such as his wings and fingers, could be easily broken off if not cautious!

Behavior: Very much a spirtely creature, Shin Daiko is a cheerful and healthy child. He enjoys climbing upon objects (perhaps he will develop a love for ascending trees when he is older), and exploring his environment. However, he is not entirely prone to clumsiness, as he is very coordinated for a child his age. He seems to dislike eating meat, but has developed a fondness for water and other liquids.

Behavior Changes: Shin Daiko has seemingly developed a fear of flowers! Though he is afraid to touch them, they seem to make him somewhat angry and defiant. Otherwise, he remains cheerful and inquisitive regarding the world around him.

Shin Daiko's Phase II Information:

Speech: Shin Daiko is now capable of speaking in whole sentences, though his sentences are still somewhat simple. He enjoys speaking to those with who he is close, and tends to be more quiet around others. His curiosity hasn't ceased and he has developed a habit of asking questions regarding why things happen, what many items are, who certain people are, etc.

Appearance: Shin Daiko rises above many of the children his age. His fingers have elongated like long tree branches, and the leaves covering his body have become fuller. His feet are somewhat large and clumsy, like the roots of a tree.

Abnormalities: Although age has caused much of his body to stiffen and be not quite as frail, it is now cumbersome with its weight. Because of the awkwardness of his feet, he tends to drag them as he walks.

Behavior: After experiencing Dio's strange illness, Shin Daiko has developed an almost fearful behavior. He realizes the paranoia of Faevan towards the other villagers and has begun to fear and dislike the villagers as well. If he feels that Faevan is distressed in a social situation, he will suddenly become angry and attempt to protect her, regardless of whether she is in any true danger or not.

User Image

The crystal! It dissipates in the harsh light! The entire room is cleansed in white brilliance.

Shin Daiko has been born!

Shin Daiko's First Word!

User Image

Shin Daiko's face suddenly becomes determined! eek Clenching his small hands into fists, he declares, "Flower!"

User Image

How odd...I though Shin Daiko liked flowers.

User Image

Oh, Shin Daiko is doing something by himself! Wonder what he's doing? Oh, oh!! eek It's a crushed flower! Did he do this?

User Image

Shin Daiko Grew!

User Image

Wh-whoa... eek I think the warmer weather has done something to Shin Daiko! Does he seem a little...bigger to you?

User Image

Shin Daiko is Gone!

!!!
...A VOICE...

User Image

The children freeze in their tracks, turning their faces to the outer reaches of the village... There's something...there's something... There's a voice loud within their minds!

"We know you are hiding, little rats. It's time to show yourselves!"

Without warning, the children storm out of the village in a panicked run...straight into the forest!

We finally found Shin Daiko!

User Image

Wait a second... Isn't that--? It's Shin Daiko! eek He's been hiding in these old ruins!

User Image

Shin Daiko looks at you somewhat confused, saying, "Auntie FaeFae...I heard that the others like me are in trouble. Aren't we going to help them?"

Dio da Goat (RPG page 88 )
And then Dio was struck by lightning and died a horrible death. And the sparks from Dio's smoldering body ignited Shin Daiko, who went up in flames and caused a brush fire so bad the entire town went up in smoke.

THE END!!!

Dio da Goat (Main thread page 1304)
I need to win the auction and get a fresh Fae. You know, one that I can traumatize again. This time, I'm really gonna die and come back as a ghost. And then the ghost is gonna die, and come back as a frog. And I'm gonna kill all of Kizzy's frogs. And then my Fae is going to eat me. And choke on me. And when they're dying, and I'm dying, I'm going to say "Ha HA! I am your father! You have killed us BOTH!"

Pilfered from DS's journal

Oh, thank the gods, we found him! We found our little Shin Daiko!

User Image

I was begining to fear that I would never find Shin, no matter how hard I searched. With all the creatures we encountered, how could a small child make it all on his own? But yet here he is, hiding in some old abandoned Fae ruins. All I want to do is bring him home and never let him out of my sight, but there are other children here. And further more, Shin seems intent to find them as well. Knowing my joy at holding Shin my arms again, I could not deprive that feeling to another guardian? We will stay and find the other Fae children.

By my hand,
Faevan

Another seedling...
User Image

We found one in the early hours today while venturing through the forest. In our relief in recovering Shin, we didn't see the harm in stopping to relieve some blackberry bushes from their bounty, and there in the midst Shin himself found what he is now calling his little brother or sister. He's carrying it about in a travel mug Dio produced for him. He transplanted it all by himself, with Dio's supervision. It seems the little sapling has taken an interest in farming as well! This day has been full of suprises.
As for the seedling, I don't quite know what we're going to do with it.Dio's decided to take it with us, and both Shin and I have given our blessing, but where are we going to put it? Dio's ranch barely fit himself and Shin, and my farmhouse probably couldn't hold four comfortably. Well, it did before...but still... I'm afraid of what Dio will choose to do. If he wants to live with both children, we may need to add to his ranch. But if he chooses to live with just the new seedling...well, I just don't know. He is Shin's Papa after all...
Or perhaps he'll let Shin decide?

I have my reservations, but it seems our family is going to grow even more.

By my hand,
Faevan

SPECIAL EVENT for Dio da Goat AND Faevan!

User Image

BOO! eek Hey, where did he come from? It's...It's Nekura... Was he standing there before...?

User Image

"Well, where are the others? You don't expect so few fae to be able to break that barrier ahead, do you?"

Finally, this ordeal seems to be over. At least, for the present. Shin has now beheld a sight I had hoped he'd never see. Unfortunately, we encountered the pure Fae in the heart to Faslin Forest. Deranged creatures, all bearing a third eye like the child Absalom. In fact, they seemed quite interested in him. Thank the gods, they released the faeling and left, but I don't think we've seen the last of them. They suspect something of us. I don't know how much longer we'll be able to hide in the village from them. Only time will tell. There is much we need to tell Shin when we return home.

That in itself poses another problem. Shin is terribly unhappy. I can't blame the child. His father nearly dies, and now this mess. And the magic...he has discovered his magic. And as always, I am at a loss for answers. Perhaps something positive, like a small trip, just he, Dio, the new seedling and myself, would brighten his spirits. I think my fields can manage for a day or two without me.

Faevan
