Ja. I noticed it in volume 10 of Fruits Basket when Tohru and Kyo were talking about Tohru smashing watermelons with her mom. And then in volume 6 I noticed Kyo's mom and Tohru's mom kinda look alike, I mean their hair and stuff. So, am I right? Are Kyoko, Kyo, and Kyo's mom somehow linked together?
EDIT: 'Kay, I read volume 16 and know now. Feel free to keep posting, though. :3

Yes but not in the way you're thinking. Kyo's mum killed her self when he was young after a fight with his father. It seems its possible that he beat his wife and so she threw herself infront of a train. Tohru's mum however died when she was hit by a car in their first year of highschool. Kyoko did know Kyo though, she met him when he was young and remained friends until the incident when Tohru went missing and Yuki found her. Kyo had been looking for her that day too and when he saw Kyoko had his hat that Yuki kept started blaming his problems on the rat as usual. Kyoko saw that he was using Yuki as a scapegoat and told him so, Kyo called her a traitor and ran off. He didn't see her again until the day she died. He noticed her at the crossing and went up to talk to her when he saw the car coming. He realised Kyoko was going to cross and reached out to grab her. He realised though, that if he did he would transform when he grabbed her and so let her get hit by the car. In a way he killed Kyoko. Before she died Kyo thought he heard Kyoko say she won't forgive him. He assumed it meant for killing her and so he had a mental break down. That brings us to when Kazuma took him to the mountains to train, it was actually for him to recover as we see in vol 10/11 (?) when Kyo is a wreck. When he returned he was shocked to see Tohru and felt as if it was Kyoko saying he'd never be allowed to forget what he did. When Tohru finally confesses to him he rejects her telling her that he killed her mother. After the accident of course he realises he turned down one of the best things in his life and when she's released from hospital he finally tells her how he feels. We've only just learned that what Kyo thought he heard her say was true. He took it the wrong way though. Kyoko's final thoughts were of Tohru and that she was leaving her alone in the world. She was trying to say "If you don't protect that child (tohru) I won't forgive you" but of course she was dying and only the second part came out for Kyo to hear.

It has been raining and when she stood on the edge all the dirt broke off.

They used to hang out when kyo was little, but tohru doesn't know that. He also blames himself for Kyoko's death.

monkeyjj im in the middle of book 16 rite now but i dont get why kyo is afraid to tell torhu that he met her mom? Because he was involved in her death. You'll find out more later but the basics of it is that he blames himself for her dying.
