If this should be in Self Help, or if this should be here in the main forum. I'll trust in the modly wisdom of others.

I did a tarot reading on myself very recently, and was amazed with the accuracy. The cards nailed it, hit it right on the nose.

Before I can really rapidly progress, there is a fear I need to overcome. I think I know part of the reason why this fear exists, but I'm not sure how to get beyond it. One contributor is part of a song by the band "System of a Down" in particular the song "Dreaming." when that song is played, I immediately think of the Lovecraft story "Hypnos." When I think of that, I remember what happened to the character in the story. The song and story fit all most perfectly together.

The gist is this: The song says "You went beyond, and you lost it all... why did you go there?" In the story, the main character and his only friend in the world had been delving into some pretty deep "stuff." Mostly involving the dreamworld and farther reaches of space. At the end of the story, the "friend" is destroyed, and all that is left is a marble replica of his head. The main character is brought to an asylum, and hailed as genius. The head is an exact duplicate of his own, when he was younger... and time had not damaged him as much.

That story haunts me, a bit. The veil is getting weaker, people are saying. In the story, they came across what could be considered the Veil. One character pushed through, and wound up being a marble head. They had drawn the attention of some more powerful being... and could do nothing against it.

All I have looked at, and the readings I have performed (yes, more than one) point towards my need to "go beyond." I need to be able to "leave" the physical, and travel the "other" places. I'm basically saying, I need to start trying to go Astral. I've noticed lately I've all most been able to see the energy fields or auras of certain people... but I have only seen my own once. I have the fear that I don't know how to alleviate, that I will get stuck some where. What if I am somehow detained? What would happen to my body? I have far too many responsibilities in this world, so just "going with it" or "riding the storm" isn't an option.

I've read things about how the body will be fine, it is just the conciousness leaving... but what assurance is there that the conciousness will return? I would literally be respnsible for at least one death, if something happened and I couldn't get back... Wouldn't it be possible for something that exists astrally to "posess" my body, or to remove my connection to my body?


I think it is needless to say at this point... but... I have a few questions and concerns... and I need some help/guidance/reassurance/information.

Yes, as Joshua_Ritter said, Possession is a possibility but to sever the connection of your soul in body astrally? I'd say the chances of that are very, VERY low, but not 100% impossible.

And if you DO get possessed or something of the like and happen to have some control over your body and mind at the moment, contact me; I'm getting bored just sitting around anyway.

I suppose what I really want to do, and what I need to do, is get past it all. What needs to happen, and I must do it myself, is I need to get over my "little" fear... the trick being in the "how."

I understand that you would be skeptic. I doubt that I am lying to myself, as I actively try to be as honest as possible with myself. Honesty with people I am not so familiar with may vary, but "honesty is always the best policy."

I would like to doubt that any spirits would bother communicating with me, as I really am not a person of importance. I'm only recently bringing myself back into the occult, so I would know nothing of past lives (as if I may have been important at some point in time). It is possible that it was being sympathetic, as I had held some concerns before hand, and the things I'd mentioned above had been troubling me (very very slightly).

As for the cards... I reviewed each one, knew what each position signified, and checked the meaning of the cards twice. It all pointed toward the same basic idea. It all very strongly pointed towards my need to move beyond just the physical, and connect with the spirits (of nature, and of people). Progress will be slow and might come to a halt, if I don't venture out at some point. The message given by the cards just seemed to fit.

However there are also self-fulfilling prophecies. I can't deny that my feeling this way may be the very thing that causes it to be true. Nor can the possibility be denied that it is true... and it is an onstacle.

Another option being that someone out there is just messing with my head.
