The most stylish of all DB/Z/GT Games and even included some Gt and movie characters never before seen. The character selection was large (for the time) and feature most of the same stuff as Budokai 1 and 2 like form changes(B2) and a simple combat system (B1, B2). I also Slapped in some in game mini games to keep you on your toes. The story mode was changed from Budokai 2's board game to a full map you can freely explore and continue certain character's stories. This game is still highly revered by DB/Z/GT fans today.

And it is revered for a good reason because it was pure awesomeness! heart

I love the concept of Dragon Universe and flying around to find the battle points. It was great. And then finding the Dragonballs seemed to be like the closest to the show you could get since you literally had to fly around using the Dragon Radar to find them. 3nodding

This is definitely my favorite Budokai game so far (but maybe I shouldn't say that so quickly since I have yet to play Tenkaichi 2).

T2 has the same story mode kind of thing, but dragon balls are mostly found in the fighting stages, very few are in the lading zones, which is cool because you can land now and walk around a small area. Dragon radar doesn't even work all that well though (considering only in fights).

Best DBZ game I've played, hands down. I don't have a favorite character to use just yet, though. I can't make up my mind. I'm like that, though. sweatdrop

Well that's a pretty awesome concept as well. It's great to know that Atari built upon something that worked very well in a previous game. 3nodding

So far the best Story mode for a DBZ fighting game, definately. Exploring the world map by flight and discoving capsules, battles, and zeni. So far the best DBZ game i've played so far. I have high hopes for Tenk. 2.

T2 falls flat on its face by comparison, it follows a neat template but it doesn't quite work. It took out the dragon balls being able to be located with the radar while exploring the map, they only apear in the battles(an the occational city but the radar still can't find it). Two of the biggest improvements is to the areas you land in where there is no battle. Those areas usually had some kind of picture and you'd get a capsule or talk to someone.

In T2 you can walk around a bit and pick up the s**t yourself. Another improvement is the fact you'll have mor thasn one dude up there with ya that follows you which will make you want to fly around when ther next battle is accually just right next to you on the mad when the map loaded. In the rare situation you'll have to catch someone while flying on the map to start the battle, too bad there is only 4 such cases.

Should I but this game for the combat expirience instead of for the storymode?

since in dbz games the focus is on the fights just like the show and the story mode is more of a requirement its important to purchase the games based on its engine.

The story mode for most dbz games(fighting) are usually short lived and have so many load times(with the exception to Tenkaichi 1 which did not feature a middle ground like the world explore) which can slow down the action and take you out of the experience.

I buy most DBZ games knowing there will be some fun to be had considering I'm a fan of the series. This also contributes to my criticisms of these games.

I'd pick a game based on how good the combat system is and how much fun it is to play, not on specific modes, but you will be disappointed sometimes too which doesn't mean you don't like the game any less.

Yes. It's a fun game. Just don't expect anything too deep. Really, the only thing that I felt added any sort of depth was teleporting. Everything else is rock-paper-scissors and rotating joysticks. It's a fun diversion, though. And it looks good.

I hated all the dragon rush and super finishers or multi hit combos and beam struggles.

Man you just listed everything that was awesome in the game. I loved all of those, especially the rush attacks except for the fact that the ai constantly cheated on it,but they looked great. BTW incase none of you have figured it out cus i didnt until much later in the game when it first came out, you can fly at any time and also at any angle, you dont have to just be hit into the air. I know it's kind of obvious but since you couldnt in previous Budokai games i didnt think of it till later. lol

Pressing all those buttons in the right sequence. I so remember my hand slipping and screwing up the Gotenks fusion during like the worst time possible. xd

Plus, with the Dragon Rush, your chances of hitting your opponent was based more on luck instead of skill. sweatdrop

I've never pulled of a fusion when I've needed it, only when I'm allready digging a grave for my opponent.

That probably would have been a better strategy. xp
